Rivalries (real, tinpot and imagined)

Stevenage for me.

Couldn't really care less about Dagenham or Borient.

I remember personally immensely disliking Notts County for several seasons. Games between us seemed to have an edge. I don't know if that came from Ian Hendon putting two penalties past them in a 2-1 win, or the Neal Bishop saga.

Peterborough's fans were always good for donating loose change to us at Underhill, I bought a hot dog with a £2 coin that hit my mate in the head one Tuesday night.

The Cons tried and failed to start a rivalry with us in 2006.

The as previously discussed Carlisle rivalry which isn't really a 'thing' anymore stemming from the 2004/5 season. Other honourable mentions for Northampton and Woking. Odd bunch them Woking.

It can only be Stevenage or Enfield for me.
We're too small for Orient to care about us and even from where I live Dagenham is miles away, besides I quite like Daggers as a club and I think most other Barnet fans do too.
I'm pretty sure Ian Hendon put in some dodgy sly tackles in that 2-1 Notts County match too!
Woking are indeed an odd bunch (shakes net) and we do have a rivalry of sorts with the Cobblers which seems to date back from the FA Cup tie in 1990. I also think both of their grounds were/are rubbish.

Not that I think we are a derby but Dagenham to Barnet is 20 miles (I used to drive it as a commute) and much closer than some so-called Derbies. Isn't Oxford to Swindon about 35-40 miles?

It's a London derby as we're both, strictly speaking, in London, but that's a name, not much else. Like you, I quite like Barnet. I think working there gave me a soft spot for them.

Yeah, I know that nationally 20 miles is nothing but applied to a London context Barnet and Dagenham are two completely different areas. It's a derby but there isn't any rivalry between us. Besides Oxford and Swindon have played against each other for a lot longer than we have (We played each other in the early years of the Alliance Premier League but at the time we had Enfield and Wealdstone as rivals and also hardly anyone supported either club) and there's probably specific regional reasons why the two are rivals.
