I dont understand the people saying 1, part of the fun of football is having a fierce rival, is it not? So why would you want then to go bust?
We haven't been competing with Rovers for years, and the reaction for years and years after would make it all absolutely worth it.

Ours are very hard to say, mainly due to the fact that we never play them!

Probably just all at 3's because of that.
Oxford - 3
Swindon - 3
Aldershot - 3

Maybe a 5 for a club like QPR too, but there isn't really a "rivalry" to speak of really.

Though if it was their fans talking about us i'd imagine Swindon would give us a 4, Aldershot a 2.

There's always been some kind of disorder in the past against all our South Yorkshire rivals, plus Chesterfield and Leeds aswel, i have no real hatred for any of them but i would have to put all those down has 2.

Celtic are the only club i truly despise with a passion. Obviously want wednesday to do shit but have a lot of mates who support them and as other blade said the rivalry we have with them is pretty much all we have as none of us will ever win fuck all ever again so wouldnt want them to go bust

Us Alex fans see ourselves as culturally on a higher plane than the two Potteries outfits over the border in Staffs because of the more desirable location of our homes and football club and ofcourse the better passing type of football that we're accustomed too.
Man Yoo we despise ofcourse.
Can't stand Liverpool either.
All our other local rivals now ply their trade in non-league football so perhaps waking up this morning at the bottom of div3 ain't too bad really in the wider context.

Shrewsbury - 2, kicked off massively back in 2012, 20+ arrests. Not kicked off since but that's down to the town being in complete lockdown, the police wising up and many Walsall drinking in either a designated pub or out of town.

Wolves - 4 probably, they don't care much for us but we don't like them, always heated when we play but they're out of our league.

Vale - 3, nowadays, used to be a right one back in the 80s proper nasty fixtures, old school vale don't like us and vice versa but it's a bit timid nowadays. Due to the years apart I guess.

Other than those three nothing else of real note, Wrexham was always tasty and has kicked off, Crewe is nothing but a local trip the same as Coventry.
Hednesford are your main enemies,we've heard.

Yeh,don't like the 'old firm' as they're just a convenient device for hordes of glory-hunters to attach themselves too.

The stories I could tell about our rivalry with Celtic. The Crewe vs Celtic games are just mental.
They like to think we're bothered about them but why would we give a shit about a club that plays in a pub league?

I thought this was about rivalry - not about clubs you don't like.

Since when have Gillingham been rivals with Liverpool, Man Utd, Celtic and Leeds? They probably don't even know you exist let alone care.

It is my personal rivalry based on the attitude of fans of those clubs in my home town.

I constantly have to field questions like;

What shirt is that?
Where are they?
What division are they in?
Who the f**k are they? etc etc

Is that alright with you ID?

We have played Leeds fairly recently btw, and we have a better chance of playing them next season than you do.

We've played Chelsea fairly recently but I wouldn't class them as rivals even though I dislike them.

As I've said before, every dog has his day - this may well be yours - but I'd keep it buttoned for a while as it's not November yet. I know you've not had a lot to get excited about for a long time so enjoy it while it lasts.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment that we have achieved nothing yet and there is a long way to go, your last sentence isn't really true.
It was only a couple of years ago we were celebrating our first championship since God was a boy, albeit league 2.

Look, the 82ers just wanted a diversion from losing for the first time so, en masse, they came up with all the bollocks that we thought we'd won the league, we cheated to get their player sent off, ad nauseum.

Who wouldn't be happy after beating the delusionistas! They're heading for the Champions League don't you know!

I was really alluding to the fact that, like ourselves, you've been bouncing between L1 and 2 for ages.

As I have stated on another thread, I fully expected us to be in and around the play offs, I will enjoy it while it lasts, but I am certainly not going to get all BBB. Never mind about November, lets see where we are at the end of this week
