After a week off, we're back in action. Can see this one ending a draw. Apart from a 4-0 win their the other year, we never really do that well at Spotland but seem to beat them at Glanford Park. Rochdale also have a very good home record, would take a draw.

That 4-0 sticks in my mind. Both games against you in that season were embarrassing. Think we had 2 sent off in both?
Sadly Xmas shopping with the mrs is taking precedence so doesn't look like I'm going. If we play as well as last Saturday I think we'll win but it'll be a close game. 2-1.

You had two sent off at Spotland and one at Glanford Park.

Any chance Canavan will start today? Really hoping he does as that would boost our chances of winning. We're probably gonna be missing Dawson which is a big loss, we looked so much weaker without him against Oxford.

He could start, he's solid enough sometimes but if he gets a booking he usually ends up picking another up in the second half. We know ourselves how big an influence Dawson has, for us if he's missing it will help. We had a few injured during midweek for our clash with Chesterfield in the Checkatrade trophy. Hoping to see Keane, Rafferty, Camps & Rathbone back in the team. Calvin will probably be on the bench after serving his ban, he's been lucky to only miss 4 league games, the other 5 were in the cup.

As for the result today, we haven't drawn for ages so possibly 1-1. If any team does win I'd expect it to be 1-0 either way maybe.

As if I wasn't already regretting traipsing around a heaving Manchester city centre we're now 3-0 up. Typical.

It's alright, we're gunna blow it arent we?

Absolutely cruising, two very soft goals had us all worried. Second looked offside though. We got the win we deserved though! 8 home wins in a row in the league!

Well that was poor. Rochdale were the better side by a mile and could've won by more. Gotta be better next week. Congrats on the win Rochdale.

3-2 gave a misleading reflection on a game that we could have won at an absolute canter.
Was worried that Dawson would boss midfield, but today, Lund, Camps and young Rathbone were the better players.
We missed 4 clear chances, and had Scunny managed a draw it would have been the escape of the season.
Maybe a combination of us playing well, plus an off day for Scunny??

Whats with the Scunny knuckle draggers? Pissed up...late arriving, hardly watched the game, made little noise and then left the ground 15 minutes early to get at the home fans . They were threatening anyone who went near them after the game. Pathetic scum. No reflection on the decent fans by the way.

One of them managed to get into the TDS at one point and kicked off with our fans. The police and stewards didn't do a good job of stopping them.

Another excellent result by Dale who are going terrific, the question is are you peaking too early ?
Erm no. We were bottom after 7 matches with 3 points. We still have a number of players to come back from injury too, so I'd like to hope there is more to come.

We are fantastic at home but poor away. We have a decent playoff shout if we can start picking up more away points.

Saw it mentioned on twitter and I'm confused too.

Calvin Andrew played and scored today after serving eight games of his nine game ban, did the ban get reduced further or something?

EDIT: Seen suggestions that EFL Cup games don't count either, this is a confusing situation.

He's missed 9, 2 were EFL games though, which don't count if it's a normal red card but I've heard if it's a proper FA ban they do count.

We lost this game in midfield to a much stronger and technically better Dale side. Alexander stuck to 442, which upon reflection should have been 433. We were overrun in midfield and it need a change to get us into the game. He did change it and we came into the game and at least got our goal difference back on keel.

To answer your question directly, it was not really the combination you state. Yes, you played well, but it was not an off day for us in that we have been poor recently. We scrambled an undeserved win against Oldham, scrambled a point against Oxford and were held by Morecambe only to come through the penalty shoot-out in the Checkatrade thingy. Recently, we really haven't been as good as it looks. The 3-0 slamming (and it should have been greater) was waiting to happen. Yes, we gave you a bit of a pinched sphincter moment at the end, but let's face it, the game was over at half-time. By the time you scored your third, it was just a matter of how many you would get. For a team with such a strong defensive record at home, allowing those 2 goals for us late on was odd. I'm not sure we did anything special.

We have a difficult holiday period coming up, when we play the remaining 3 play-off placed (currently) teams. I'm not expecting many points return out of that, so the top of the table could look a lot different after New Year.
