Birmingham Half Marathon this coming weekend, trained well for it, done my final prep run today, looking forward to the event now.

2hr I'll be happy with, think I'll be just outside it though...

So I was stood on the start line & happened to spot the 2hr pace man about 7/8 rows in front of me, got myself ahead of him within the first half mile or so then continued to open up a decent margin on him throughout the next 4 or 5 miles to the extent that at the half way point I had a look round and couldn't see him at all. Knuckled down through the hard miles then low and behold we took the turn at the top of the hills and down Broad Street and the cvnt came zooming past on a sprint finish :eyes: I had to try and go with him finishing a couple of meters behind him legs completely turned to jelly, I clocked it at 2hr1m but my official time from the event was 1:59:28, which I was well happy with. Coventry HM in February which I'm assured is a lot flatter and a lot faster, hoping to try and push the 1hr50 barrier.

Do you do hill sprints Trev? Sounds like they would've come in handy. If you ain't been doing em that start. It'll improve your times no end.

I've signed up for a half marathon next year, struggling with the motivation at the moment though to be honest.

You're right there mate, I did very little hill training leading up to the event, I live right next to a river path nature trail which I do 90% of my training on, which are obviously pretty flat. The hills wiped me out to be honest, my mile time went up over a minute per mile for the three main hill miles, coming down the home straight I was properly in auto-pilot, my legs were shot :sur:

Start the Cyprus international challenge today with a 6k timetrial, gruelling 11k hill run tomorrow followed by a half marathon and finally a 10k on Sunday, can't wait.
Great weather to wake up to this morning too!
