The beginning of a harsh run of games for us, will be OK with a draw here but a narrow defeat isn't the end of the world here, just got to keep an eye on the GD as that may well be worth an extra point when it comes to the difference between the drop and not.

Bolton could have scored an absolute hatful against us at their place and we were battered by Pompey last week. Against all the top teams we have looked handily outclassed and I dont see that changing this weekend. A few players were returning from injuries to make the bench last week but think its too early for the likes of Fox and Sherring to start. I will go for a 3-1 win to Bolton.

We've played Stevenage 3 times this season, drawing all three, should of won 1 comfortably but Crosby made some ridiculous subs with us coasting in the cup, the other 2 very close games however we are a shadow of that side at the moment which played them the other times, riddled with injuries and low on confidence.

Hopefully we've had some time for Ryder and co to work on a few things and we can change the system but we've been well outplayed in 3 games, should of lost 4 or 5-0 in the last two home games and you feel sooner or later if that continues a side is going to take those chances we have presented.

Fans vocal against the DOF, Carol staunchly defending him, protests potentially...

Can't say I am overly looking forward to it, but we need to find a result from somewhere.

Away to a Carlisle team seemingly in freefall. I'll take a scrappy 1 goal win and no f*cking major injuries.

Lincoln away and going into this match confidence will certainly be high. A number of our players are really hitting form at the moment, Wiredu, Lawal, Coughing and Stockley. Jay Lynch our goalie has had a somewhat indifferent spell prior to the last few games but on Tuesday he made some outstanding saves at key moments
That's the good news, Lincoln will be a very tough game, they are keeping clean sheets so goals could well be at a premium. I think Fleetwood have a good chance of picking up a point 0-0 or 1-1

Take a point. Wigan have beaten us twice, both being smash and grab types, so we are due one especially given the Caldwell links.
It will be my first visit, looking forward to it..
Presumably Aimson will be dropped and he may start Eisa.

Barnsley away. They were good, not great, at our place in a pretty even 1-1 draw. I’d happily take the same again but I suspect we might well get edged out. Omar Beckles should be fit to return to what is likely to be an otherwise-unchanged starting XI. Hopefully one of the new EPL kids do well enough in training to spare us Ruel missing sitters but I won’t hold my breath.

Truthfully our enjoyable little run has been just that and there are a hell of a lot of significant obstacles in our way before the season’s end (we still play 10 of the top 13 sides in our last 16 games). But we can keep dreaming until Saturday evening at least.

That's all we need, that fat cock on the touchline winding everyone up. Cue their usual tactics of direct football and gamesmanship plus our multitude of issues and I can see the atmosphere being quite fraught.

Our team as it stands isn't good enough to get points off anybody at the moment. We've got to play like a non league side in the FA Cup. Scab a few undeserved points here and there until our better players are back.

Cheltenham at home.

WHO KNOWS?! Really fancied us on Tuesday until it turned into Boat Race weather, Cheltenham could be 1970 Brazil or they could be 2024 Bar Hill. WHO KNOWS?!

I'd whack a fiver on it not being a classic, but beyond that NOBODY FUCKING KNOWS.

Football.

Basically this.

How's the weather been in Cambridge? Is the game likely to be on?

This is one of our biggest games in years. Hoping for a new manager bounce but Reading are in good form and Jones has a real task on his hand to get this team playing coherently.

Aneke is back in full training and his cameo appearances off the bench for the rest of the season (until he gets injured again) could be the difference between relegation and staying up.

Pressure is off us to a degree this weekend after 3 wins in 4 games. We’ve shown we can beat teams in the top 6, so no reason why we can’t beat Wigan, who, arguably, would be play off contenders without a points deduction.

Caldwell will want to get one over his old team and our squad is in good shape too for once. We’ll hopefully drop Aimson and Niskanen in favour of Sweeney and Rankine. Also would like to see Eisa get his first start.

A point would be solid but think we can nick this 1-0.

It should be fine. Tuesday was our first abandonment or postponed game due to a waterlogged pitch in about 20 years. It was a quarter of February's average rainfall in the space of a couple hours. Think I saw a stat which said it was 10mm of rain in the hour around 8pm, which simply meant the drainage that is usually good just couldn't cope quick enough.

Raining on and off throughout the day today but the weather tomorrow is looking much better. Our groundsman, Ian Darler, is usually very reliable too. Has a great record, up until Tuesday, of keeping games on.

Not sure which Port Vale games he has been watching but we were the team in white!

We were the better side against Pompey, unlucky against Orient who put a low block in and Crosby did a fantastic job and decisions (assume he means the Pompey penalty) cost him his job and its not fair referees get away with bad decisions... and another long chat with Carol.

Maybe he's angling for the job here! but a bit unnerving Steve Evans being incredibly nice about us!

Away at Derby.

First time it’s Paul Warne vs Paul Hurst since Wembley 2018. Games don’t get much tougher than this at League One level. I hope we go into the game with a back four and have a go at them and not revert back to Taylor tactics with a back five and 20% possession. Good news is that these days we don’t have many injuries (been a long time coming) so we’re fairly at full strength now.

Won 12 out of their last 16 league games, second in the table, big crowd expected… all points to a Derby home win unfortunately.

Derby 2-1 Salop

Barnsley away - Not a place we've visited many times down the years, our last visit was in the 2014/2015 season when we went down from here, that was our first visit there for a very long time, my only visit there too, so for once an away game I'm not too familiar with!

I'd imagine George Moncur will be dropped for this one after playing two games this week, playing against stronger opposition as well so we will need legs and pace in the midfield. The other questions will be whether Omar Beckles will be fit enough to return to the squad and Theo Archibald looks like he's injured so Ollie O'Neill will likely get a full debut. Dan Agyei is gone for the season too.

We've managed to beat Portsmouth and Barnsley in the last 4 weeks, so we will give them a game but our unbeaten run has to end at some point and I wouldn't be suprised if it was here, we're still the lowest scorers in the top half of the table partly because we tend to miss chances.

Home to Fleetwood.

Burroughs (injured, out for a month) and Mitchell (suspended) are the only additional absentees on top of the two long termers. O'Connor will come in for Mitchell.

Interesting to see what formation we go with, we've got a fair few options at the minute. From what little I've read on Fleetwood recently, they're a low possession, deep block and direct side? So I can't imagine it's a game for someone like Taylor who needs space in behind.

Either way, they're in decent form at the minute and it's rare that Stockley has a bad game against us.

Hopefully nothing like the dreadful insipid performance against Lincoln which was worse than under Dino.
We have about 16 strikers now so for fucks sake please try and score.
Prediction- 3-2 defeat

We were the better side against Pompey

Evans clearly has an axe to grind with us after we beat them a few weeks back in a tight game.

Pompey stats Vs Vale:
xG 2.01 (against 0.15)
Shots on target - 7 (against 0)
Possession 64%
Corners 10 (vs 3)

He clearly didn't see the game and is talking his usual shite.

I was there to experience it unfortunately. Can only think he got the dvd from our meeting in 2000 or something!

Evans just says words without thinking about them or regardless of any basis in fact. There’s a point in that article where he talks about us being successful at home against the best in the division. Since our return to L1 across two seasons our home record against the top six is as follows:-

P11 W0 D1 L10

Could be better one would suggest.

It's not literally a must win for us tomorrow but it feels like it. On paper this month always looked like it would be defining and if we start it with losses to Wycombe and Cambridge that might just break us. Flip side, win and we're in with a shout.

The results don't reflect it but our away performances have been pretty good for the last 5 or 6 games. We need to cut out the stupid errors and we're due some luck after some horrible officiating recently - maybe tomorrow is the day.

Prediction: CUFC 1-2 CTFC - a dodgy late penalty to win it for us.

Basically? But yeah, you're a bit less sweary in fairness!

Think my compadre covered the weather, sounds from the club have been positive about it so bodes well.

Dunno why this match gives me the willies, probably due to us generally not bothering to turn up when we play you but still. Take a point in your position?

Not sure how we are going to score 3. We only have one striker in Marquis available, and he doesnt ever look like scoring.
I'll go 1-1

We’ve started so slow though. Their goal stunned us at the start. Slow in possession. Not winning many second balls. Need to improve massively
