Do you know what the violent conduct was?

Smith held his face but your management claimed the Ref said it was for a stamp?

Agree with your other comments above.

The Ref was very erratic in dishing out cautions. Smith had 2 cynically wild swipes, with absolutely no attempt at the ball, at Harris in the same move near your penalty area with the Ref waving play on when MH got a shot away. All the Ref did was have a word when he ran by but could have cautioned him but he booked players for less. Both challenges could have been cautions in their own right.

He was also erratic in decision making both ways.

None the wiser now to be honest. Because it was so far away from where the ball was haven’t seen it picked up on any camera angle. It looked to me like after the card Harris was trying to protest he was just trying to push him off him. Guess it will come clear if the FA give him the full 3 game suspension.

Your manager says he apologised so assume it was one or the other.

There was one also where Brannagan appears to kick out at Cass as the ball comes in for our first goal which Doha on here has put on OVF so seems like frustration set in.

That said most Valiants there said your by the far the best side we've faced so plenty to be positive about for both clubs so far I would say.

I don't doubt he did something, just curious if anybody saw what.

That is what I mean by erratic from the Ref. Some things he ignored one moment then penalised the next. The Smith hack just sticks in the mind as it was at our end and what he'd given before, was a blatant caution.

I wasn't there so only seen highlights but our POD says he was terrible for both sides and the guy on the POD is a referee himself, there's an image of Funso Ojo's booking for a high boot and its ridiculous as the Oxford lad is diving into the header, and apparently one later was head height not given.

They aren't great at this level, just want consistency really.

I think every club needs a bit of a shithouse in their ranks.
We had a great one in Paul Coutts while in L2, but he was clever in how he went about it and controlled the refs without them even know he was doing it.
Only shithouse I can think of now for us is Sam Finley who is a walking red card (e.g got taken off early Saturday when on a yellow). One time Port Vales Conlon stamped on his foot (missed by ref) and retaliated (not missed by ref) and got sent off.
It's pretty much the reason we have Joe Garner, Jon Mellish can be a bit of a shithouse at times too.

Yes, don't mind them being wrong as long as they are consistently getting that decision wrong in the same way over a game.

Should be an interesting game this tonight. Personally didn’t think much of Reading when we played them but they’ve changed a few players since then. Fancy Cambridge to get it done though.

We've been the better side in that first half but poor decisions and finishing is the reason we're not in front.

If Cambridge don’t win this they’ll be kicking themselves. Look a threat every time they’re on the break. Reading also really don’t look comfortable with balls into the box. Reading had a lot of the ball but none of it has threatened a great deal.

I can't work out whether there's a bit of quality in this game or it's just full of endeavour and lacking it, hence the basketball match type tempo. All a bit chaotic and lacking any real control from either side.

Lovely move and finish. Cambridge deserve that.

Reading look in trouble, very youthful and the inexperience seems to be telling. Would be interesting to see the last minute “goal” ruled out again. Looked close but Reading seem out their depth at this level at the minute.

Cambridge did well, very direct, physical and play to their strengths.

Decent watch that. Better team won overall. Reading to me having seen them twice now are rather one dimensional, could be a tough season for them even if they were unlucky at the very end. Bennett for Cambridge looks a real player.

A lot of huff and puff from both teams that did lack in quality at times but I think over the 90 minutes we were the better team and deserved the 3 points in the end. We're not conceding silly goals like we were last season and have options from the bench to win games.

I said to my mate the game would be won from the bench but I couldn't say which team but thankfully it was our sub who got the winner. Fantastic start to the season and another clean sheet is a bonus.

Pleased with that - fairly even game but on balance I felt we were the better side.
Up to sixth…

Thought we played ok without being brilliant, created the better chances and had more of them but that reading chance at the end was bloody close, certainly some of ball over the line.

Pleased for fejiri, he’s someone I rate and not for the first time he’s come good for us, absolutely love thomas, he brings that quality to our midfield that we’ve been missing since wessi.

Delighted with that, we really took it to them and felt we always looked more likely to score, though Reading did miss a couple of chances. How dirty were they haha, that was three pull backs in the space of about 10 mins in the second half.

Although it’s early days we generally look alot more solid than last season and seem to have more options from the bench to win a game. Liam Bennett is epic, I could watch him play all day.

Was a good win but I didn't think that was a particularly great performance from us last night, we've definitely played better this season.

Mannion getting a lot of praise tonight and he deserves it, been second choice to Mitov and now Stevens and whenever he's been called upon he's helped us out. Not sure how much more he can do to become first choice.

Biggest points total from our opening 6 games since our promotion in 20/21. Everything started to go tits up around mid September last season though, so can't get ahead of ourselves.

Very happy with those 3 points, hard won if a bit scrappy at times particularly in the first half. After the break we looked far more effective and dangerous and were deserved winners in the end. Great to have a subs bench that can impact the game this year. Not sure if it was a good watch on the telly, but one of those games that despite not being top quality, sucked you in as a committed fan.

it was a very good watch on the telly and the standard looked high. George Thomas had a blinder I thought
