Just watched the 'highlights' of Crawley v Cambridge.

I did think the first goal was a foul but then I've spouted off before about keepers being given too much protection so I can't really complain when it goes against us.

Both sendings off were correct.

Crawley have one of the worst disciplinary records in the division. Yet we are one of the most bullied teams in the division. Every other team is bigger and stronger than us. Our trouble stems from petulance. Shoved off the ball for the 3rd or 4th time our players react and gets booked or in the example of yesterday, grabs the player around the neck and throws them to the floor.

These are my toys and I'm throwing them out of my pram sp there!

I wouldn't though unless we'd achieved something, thats just the way I think - the next game is the most important.

You wouldn't see the elite sides like Peps City, or Fergies Man Utd or Wengers Arsenal doing those over the top things for a game in isolation.

But maybe my expectations are too high? :dk:

Spot on. I remember Arsenal players reacting perfectly rationally after RVN missed a penalty against them.

Absolutely hilarious that you’ve just compared league one Charlton Athletic to the elite sides of City, Arsenal and Man United

I would say your expectations are astronomical which considering the team you support is very, very funny, you must have never smiled at football once in your life.

You can keep your way of thinking, thanks, it sounds utterly depressing.

As I said previously, I have no issue with players giving it out on the pitch to their opponents after a certain moment/goal, they all do it. Then again I could argue that 12 months later RVN scored in the same fixture and ended thier unbeaten run and football bit them back.

Well I have been watching my team since 1994 so not really no! Thats the way it goes I am afraid.

I would say I am realistic, I prefer celebrating actual achievements rather than one off games. When we reached the League One playoff final 11 years ago I was pleased of course, but didn't dart onto the pitch like most others seemed to, we'd still achieved nothing and we stil achieved nothing that season because we lost the final so IMO it shows a bit of small menality to celebrate things when the main objective still hasn't been acheived.

Fair enough, we’re never going to agree. I’d be surprised if there’s anyone on the planet that agrees with you to be honest, maybe Roy Keane because he’s a miserable bastard.

So I’m going to enjoy my day with a big smile on my face, courtesy of my wonderful football team whilst you can wallow in your constant state of discontent.

The general consensus on our message board is we can’t understand how the first goal was given. It was a definite foul on the keeper. We got a massive break there.

Both were reds as you say. I don’t know what Hepburn-Murphy was thinking of with that. Gibbons’ challenge was just one of those that happens in the follow through. Not deliberate but still dangerous and right to go.

Big win for us. Still a long way to go for us but at least we’re putting up a fight.

Stay humble, get down the tunnel, don’t celebrate unless you achieve something.

Sounds like Monday night football in here.

I think you have a short memory tbh. You can’t compare Charlton to the best teams of all times, winning 70% of games over 10 years - that’s just ridiculous.

I remember city players running the length of the pitch celebrating, Liverpool players holding hands raising them in celebration drawing 0-0 with West Brom, Newcastle going absolutely mental for drawing 4-4 at home to Newcastle. There are hundreds of times it’s happened at every level

Let’s not pretend this is an every day occurrence. Who knows, maybe it is for you and you’ve got too used to winning recently.

But for the rest of us, it’s absolutely not. Seeming as it’s also every team here agreeing with Charlton fans and just the Orient fans contesting that, I’d argue that it’s just sour grapes from you lot tbh

Yeah but you've still achieved nothing so far this season? Thats why I would never do it and haven't done for a long time, you learn your lesson that football can bite you on the backside quickly, why over celebrate one win when theres still so much to play for and your season objectives haven't been completed?

As correctly pointed out by the Wrexham fan earlier - we went over the top when we beat them only ten days ago, since then we've lost 3 games in a row - football bites you back quickly because we've still achieved nothing this season, the bigger picture will always be more important.

For what its worth I didn't even clap my team off when we beat you 3-0 earlier in the season, I read nothing into the game at all, because your team clearly had its issues and downed tools which I thought was a disgrace to the fans that went to the game, as someone who goes to every single game I could relate to the performance your team unfairly served up to your fans because I've seen my fair share of those.

I know I said I was done but this is just getting even more mental.

I don’t think you realise how flawed your argument is, the fact that you could just as easily lose your next game, go on losing runs etc is the exact reason why you should enjoy moments like we did yesterday.

From everything I’ve read, I genuinely have no idea why you follow a football side at all, you clearly get no enjoyment or satisfaction from it, ever. I feel a little bit sorry for you in truth that you’ve never enjoyed all the delights this beautiful game can bring because of some blinkered view.

Well I have only missed one of my teams games this season and missed only about 16 in the last 21 years, so I know when the right time to overcelebrate is :) and beating a team who have clearly downed tools isn't one of those moments.

I think we’ll just have to agree that we’re different people and different things affect us differently.

I think the point is that you’re happy at the time and going with your emotions. That was an absolutely massive win for Charlton. I remember us beating Southampton many years ago 3-2 at St Mary’s and 3.5k fans staying singing for 20 minutes after the game.

On the other end, I remember beating FGR in the play offs and no one really celebrated, we had a final to win, whereas Grimsby stormed the pitch. I didn’t even think about Grimsby storming it because it was pure elation for them to get to Wembley, enjoy the moment lads.

Charlton were celebrating a big win that keeps their promotion dream alive. I’ll tell you what’s too early, Rovers fans running on the pitch against Scunthorpe before the game was over

Although I must say, you sound like a hard man to please if you didn’t applaud Orient for beating us 3-0! Just checking what you do when Orient score goals? :P1:

Usually a low key fist punch to be honest, with the odd polite applause!

Only have to go back to May last year....We lost at home, but beat Barnsley to get into the final of the play-offs
Doubt we celebrated more in 1958 when we won the Fa Cup against Man Utd.
The final against Oxford was just a formality and a piss-up

Enjoy the minute.....but always stay humble

Any chance you can get total and away attendances from your club?
Would be a big help for us statisticians…

I was having a dig at ourselves as we are shit. Never got to the bottom of it despite contacting the club over the years. Still bad even though we have new owners.
Why I don’t know. It’s just very tinpot.

They normally announce it in the ground but I didn't hear it for this game.

I've asked on our forum if anyone knows and will post it if I find out. Looked a fair few Cambridge fans there...and noisy as well.

Laird is rolling his way to a champions medal :)

Was a dreadful challenge, a day late and a dollar short. Red was harsh but there does seem to a a crackdown, plus only big clubs get those decisions....

Wycombe played better and were more ambitious with 10 men than they were will 11, we were awesome till the red card and then the game became a bit of a damp squib, with Wycombe pushing forward but with Allsop having no saves to make.

Onwards we roll to Bolton in this farewell third tier, we fancied a change tour. This will be tough and would take a point right now.

I can also be sarcastic and I wont nibble.

I expect a tough game, would defo take a point, saw the Wrexham highlights and Bolton deserved their point at another tough place to go

Point is not good enough.........We will at least give you a game. Earlier in the season Evatt handed you the points on a plate before a ball was kicked
