Why the fuck is it always 'Port Vale' and not 'one or two fans'. Bit weird how we all get thrown under the bus for a couple of opinions amongst the fan base.

Perhaps it's because of the ludicrous statement put out on the Port Vale website whinging about refereeing decisions a while back?

The one in 2019 where they did some screenshots of bad decisions against us? If I remember rightly one was where we had a goal chalked off at Cheltenham. If so I must say at that time it was criticised heavily by most Vale supporters as it was clearly a diversionary tactic by Smurthwaite just as protests against him were taking hold.

Regards Saturday have still seen nothing to convince me either way it was right or wrong so can only stick with the referees decision should stand. As best as I can tell we haven’t appealed it either and probably rightly so.

Port Vale complaining about other teams playing the ref is very funny considering what they did against us.

Where did I complain about it? I just said Gibbons wasn't streetwise in that incident, which he wasn't.

I love big Covolan doing it! We've been soft for years before the Dazzler at it and been busting an eyeball watching teams do it to us, Stevenage, Newport, Swindon for example.

Its part and parcel of the game these days, Newport did it to get Jones off, everyone does it these days so if it works it works. We've been shithousing reactions out of players to get them off this season and its great to see us give it back. (Can be no coincidence we've got a reaction out of 3 players this season where they've elbowed or lamped one of our players to see red!)

Oh do me a favour. Your lot are just as streetwise as anyone else and milked the ref all game - the time wasting after you went ahead in the 25th minute was pitiful. Your keeper got booked for it in the first half. Karma at the end when we went in front to see him running about off his nut.

We were timewasting and our keeper was rightfully booked. Although those rules weren't applied to you when you went in front.

The ref was poor.

I agree on the Jones one, my instinct at the time was that he got the ball and their player made an absolute meal of it but we'll never get that overturned with how he jumped in.


I do think the Gibbons tackle was very poor and should have been a freekick and a yellow. And I also think that they got away with loads of shithousing - the kicking the ball away, the time wasting. When Covolan got booked he had tried to take a freekick about 5 yards further forwards, and then again tried to steal a yard. I've never really seen a linesman be so pedantic and he certainly wasn't stopping them from doing it.

remind me of the yellow Jones got at Sutton for timewasting, one of the more bizarre ones when the 4th official was stood on the touchline in his way and no one realised the game was actually still going.

Would rather our players/management had faith in themselves to go and win the game normally rather than time-wasting and rolling around on the floor. Smith and Gibbons two notable exceptions though. Come across quite a few people who were football fans as kids but have been turned off by things like that, it's bringing the game into disrepute as far as I'm concerned.

Issue is if you don’t your at a huge disadvantage. That was the problem under nice guys like Aspin and Askey, you’d play Stevenage at home watch them rolling about and be seething.

It’s a crap part of the game but unless you want to be disadvantaged you have to do what everyone else is doing.
