Anyway I have my doubts about this match even going ahead looking at the forecasted temperatures.
Hope not, or this will be our third away game postponed and our three longest away trips at that! You would join the tinpotteries Barrow and Fleetwood...

If it does go ahead, you have the two worst form teams in the league battling it out. 0-0.

Wow I hadn't realised your form had nose dived so much.

Our pitch is great in terms of drainage. Been a long long time since we had a waterlogged postponement, but we don't have undersoil heating so freezing temperatures will do it.

It's going to be -6 Thursday night, then -3 friday night, barely getting above 0 on saturday. I'd be amazed if it's not frozen solid.

I expect it will be called tomorrow afternoon.

new boy Jarvis all on the bench.
Weird circle of life stuff going on in that then new boy Harry Wood on loan from Hull and had previously done well at Shelbourne came off our bench for the final equaliser in the 5-5 last season.

Is our game even going to go ahead with all these below freezing temperatures?

Current forecast for Cleethorpes isn't as bad as most of the country, seems to be above freezing for the majority of the time, crucially even more so throughout Friday and Saturday. It will be absolutely baltic for anyone at the match but early signs suggest it will be on.

I think you'll find Grimsby remains sub tropical year round, despite what happens in the rest of the country. Pack your bermudas
It's true, the soft clear blue waters of the Humber Estuary help to keep the ambient temp well above the norm. We have dolphins, leatherback turtles and bird of paradise flying overhead. Love Island is filmed on one of the old defensive forts just off Cleethorpes pier.

Why do we only ever play you at Blundell Park in the middle of winter? It’s never bloody August or May. Every time I’ve ever been that walk along the seafront from Cleethorpes station is like something from a Lowry painting.

Haha yeah that's true actually. In contrast, I've worn shorts to your place a few times. We always seem to come to you in August, September or April.

Sounds good and should do the trick but what is the likelihood of another pitch collapse?#sinkhole

That was due to the back flow from the local drainage being more powerful than the release from the underpitch pipes into said drainage. Could happen again but unlikely.

Some of the stuff I got up to in my younger days on the beach around Cleethorpes pier after nights out wouldn’t have looked too out of place on Love Island. :bg:

Can't see many of the league 2 games being on this weekend. Not sure what swindon is like but it would definitely be off if the game was played in Crewe

Oddly the past two days Vale Park has been glowing Bright Red from inside in night time... not sure what contraption is causing it, be it a heater or maybe just one of those machines that help the grass.

The club still posting game previews etc on Twitter. No mention in local press of pitch inspections. Having said that its cold. Going to be -3 overnight and only get into positive figures at midday tomorrow

Apparently you've got some sort of big fuck off heated tent/cover.

Crewe have been told the game will be on, and they are travelling today.

Sky provide them for TV fixtures I believe to try and keep games on and they are apparently available to rent according to our POD.

We had an inspection today and the pitch is perfectly playable.
Depends on overnight though and we have another inspection at 8am tomorrow.
Hopeful.

Inevitable ours would be off really. Right decision call it early today save any wasted journeys for Barrow. Should look to slot it in for the Tuesday after the Newport game as think both clubs are free then.
