I had a lovely time at the Hellfire Caves and National Trust Hughenden instead of watching the Alex draw with Mansfield last Saturday.

Actually last time I missed a stags match at Newport ( it was before they played at the Dave) was 2010. My wife said you can go but you have to be back for 7pm as that’s when youngest daughter’s 18th birthday party was scheduled to start. I know which side my bread is buttered so had to decline the beautiful Spytty Park.

Our game at Salford on Saturday is going to be interesting - having watched us beat Bradford and narrowly lose to Exeter on Tuesday evening where we made 9 changes to the starting line up from last Saturday - we could spring another surprise at Salford - I think we will go with the same line up as Bradford despite some good performances from Tuesday - we don’t seem to be missing any of the experienced players we let go since last season.

Better than me, i’ve never been to newport.

I’ve always thought of going there, but never had the appeal, probably a bit like a farmfoods or something.

Funnily enough I do live within walking distance of a canal which is close to where the mighty Bantams train. So I could actually Gongoozle after watching them train one day. Good idea my fishy friend

The Murenger across the road from Tiny Rebel is a good old school boozer with Sam Smiths on tap. Potters also good. The indoor market is next to Tiny Rebel - prob best option for food.

County and grimsby an interesting one, especially after not winning the opening game and then being dispatched with relative ease by lincoln and mansfield respectively neither side will want to go 3 games into the season without a win.

Looking at grimsbys august that’s a tough gig, with 3 tough home games on paper coming up too.
