Couldn’t be arsed with rail replacement buses today. Glad I didn’t; it’s all depressingly predictable. Injuries and our enforced winter break have ruined us, but we should still be scraping the odd result. The next two months are very kind in terms of fixtures - a trip to see our mate Ebou aside - so we’ll either have ensured a mid-table finish before the run-in or be absolutely fucked by Easter.

Maybe I'm going soft, but I thought Adams' interview was quite reasonable. At least he answered the interviewers questions, which were quite challenging, without getting exasperated.
I recall the last time Bradford went up, we beat them 4-1 around this time and it looked like we were destined to at least get a play off place.
But we didn't, and Bradford went on a great run to finish the season and go up.
So I wouldn't rule them out yet.

Gerrin FT!! Only our second away win of the season :woot:
Never in doubt mate held on comfortably in the end

Lee is definitely proving me wrong. We look very well drilled at the back. He also seems to learn from his mistakes and is getting braver. The players are obviously motivated to play for him everyone worked their bollocks off and he's really getting a tune out of Crawford in midfield.

We didn't play that great but what I liked was Lee saying he'll not put up with a performance like that again. We definitely underestimated him.

Bogle was a handful all game and will be at this level. Knew he'd be a good signing as he's the main man here (which I reckon he needs) and our forward play brings his strengths out. Lovely finish as well.

I'm sticking my neck on the line, I reckon we're safe this season. Could even kick on and finish top half if we keep this up.

Trust me mate, no late run this season.

This squad is light years behind the squad of 2013. If it wasn't for the 'distraction' of the amazing League Cup run that got us to the final the same season, we would have gone up automatically with that squad.

That is horrific.

Meanwhile Premier League fans lose their sh*t for weeks because a referee gives a corner instead of a freekick

that'a a tweet from a Stevenage fan,,, says it all.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Having watched a bit of game now think Carlisle did about all they can do in the situation.

Seems apparent this side isn’t going to keep possession, control games or create chances. If you take that into account there is only one approach, worked for Atkins in 2000, Curle a few years back. Set up a massive defence job and try and nick goals……some weeks they will get hammered for it, but if they can get more effective in defence wins may come easier, just won’t be pretty.

Saying that to survive they must shore up, the two goals conceded were simple not good enough, first Colchester goal they had about 4 defenders around one Colchester player who was left totally unmarked to head home…….no point in numbers of no one marks up.

Second goal their player had 3 stabs at a shot, and then our goalie seemed to just allow shot in with zero attempt to stop it.

Positive is two goals by newer players from a very defensive tactic, only way it will work is if you can be effective on the break. Think they need to persist with it, fans will hate next week at home playing in effect 5-4-1 but it’s about points now.

If the Colchester player had "3 attempts at a shit" in the box i'm not surprised no-one went near him.....

He's probably too arrogant to realise this but the moment a manager starts talking like this about his own teams fans then it's a matter of time really for them to go. Not very smart really from him.
This is how it went we ended up sacking him. That same season he called the fans that booed him either “ Yobs” or “Thugs”. I can’t remember which but it was one of them.

It was when we were having the grandstand done so the tunnel was right between the Devonport and Lyndhurst stand. It used to get pretty hostile.

Derek is a great manager when he’s the underdog and he can spur his team on with the underdog mentality. Look at his success with Ross County and Morecambe. A real “ us vs all of them” kinda thing.

We were never an underdog but he did sign Graham Carey, one of the best players I’ve ever seen in L2. How that bloke never reached the Championship I don’t know. When he was here he always commented on how average our budget was etc, and to be fair to him he did get the best out of some pretty crap players, including a Latvian centre back, Jordan Slew and Jimmy Spencer to name just 3 of many.

But when the going gets tough he just becomes more and more arrogant, fans grow to hate him and it’ll never end well. Bradford may have a pretty mediocre budget but regardless they are a big football club for L2 and the fans rightly so have expectations of playing at a higher level, especially when you see the likes of Fleetwood, Morecambe and Cheltenham in the division above. (No offence lads)

He’s also not a tactician at all. He’ll play the same old 4-2-3-1. Big lad up front, 2 wingers and a creative player ahead of a ball winner and a box to box midfielder. When he was here it was Reuben Reid / Jamille Matt / Jimmy Spencer / Ryan Taylor. At Morecambe he had Cole Stockton. With Bradford he’s got Andy Cook and now Tom Elliot.

He really is the definition of marmite. When it’s going well his winding up of the opposition is hilarious but the minute it begins to go wrong his arrogance becomes infuriating.

He’ll end up being sacked and go to a small club up north somewhere like Barrow (just an example) and no doubt do well and overachieve, because that’s what he does best. Bloke’s a cock.

It’s a bad state of affairs when the opposition manager is bigging our club up while our own manager slags us off! That said there are more problems at the club than just him, he’s one of many the club is a joke and we’re set for 11 managers in 4 years to go with the 3 CEOs the latest of who was the Twitter boy when he came. We’re a club on the decline no doubt about it, the next appointment could be do or get relegated tbh.

Our game yesterday was just so poor. Suited Walsall how scrappy it was, we countered a few times but were very wasteful in those situations. We probably shaded the game, but for Clarke to throw away a point was bizarre.

Desperately unlucky this season with injuries to Paul Glatzel. Had he played enough I’m sure he’d have established himself as the best 10 in the division but he can’t seem to put more than 3 or 4 games together before getting injuries.

Expect a backlash against Hartlepool.

I was only half listening to QUEST when one of the guys apparently said that FGR had equalled best ever League 2 away record for any team from start of season in not losing a single match after 15 games.
Is that true?

Clarke seemed more interested in trying to be hard then moaning when he got some back good player though tbf amazing he is still that good at his age.

Depends what you define as a record.

Unbeaten at this stage possibly yes, but just for example the Carlisle title winning side of 1994/5 at this level had only lost one match all season at this stage and granted that was away, but…….

It had taken 34 away points from 15 away games winning 10 of them while FGR have taken 31 points only winning 8

Depends what you class as stronger points or being unbeaten, although team wise that Carlisle side just p*ss took this league only dropped points at the end because they gave up about a title race and focused on first trip to Wembley. Their home form at this stage was 11 wins, 4 draws and no defeats. So had 71 points on 30 games.

I’d say there are other sides have more point totals than fgr both home and away at this point, but it doesn’t matter as long as the records end of season keep you top
