We're at home to Newport. We both won in the cup but neither have won a league game yet. Can't say the games against Newport have been memorable. We either lose or play out naff draws, although we should have won at home last season. The most memorable moment in a game against Newport was when Matty Dolan tried to shoot, missed the ball, fell over, got a freekick and then scored from it - lovely stuff.

GK: Harry Lewis

RB: Brad Halliday
CB: Matty Platt
CB: Romoney Critchlow
LB: Liam Ridehalgh

DM: Richard Smallwood
DM: Alex Gilliead

RM: Harry Chapman
CAM: Jake Young
LM: Scott Banks

ST: Andy Cook

Same team that started against Hull please, Sparkie. I'm predicting another naff draw. 1-1.

Given the players available:
Mitchell
Knoyle Williams Long Maxwell
Clayton Biggins
Hurst Tomlin Rowe
Miller

Would be my preferred lineup.

Anderson, Molyneux and Taylor might be ready for Salford which would definitely strengthen us and Close by September

Evans never played hoofball for Mansfield, not sure about Stevenage. Gamesmanship is a given.

The defence and CM three will more than likely be the same as the opening two fixtures. We're still lacking options up top so I think it'll be Taylor on his own. Then it's two from Clifton, Kiernan, Wearne and JMD for the wide spots. Would be harsh on Clifton or Kiernan to lose their spots but Wearne and JMD have both scored off the bench in the last two matches and are both pushing to start. I'd personally switch Clifton out for Wearne. No reflection on Clifton's performance vs Northampton as I thought he did well, it was just clear to see that Taylor up top on his own is more effective with more attack minded players playing off him.

We’re at home to Barrow who’ve beaten Stockport and Bradford in the league before knocking Blackpool out of the league cup. We’ll be facing them without Ben Goodliffe who will be out for 6 months following his injury against Newport.

I’m not confident

We've got a problem with our central midfield. Darren Pratley is the only recognised one we have avaliable with Craig Clay out for a few weeks because we couldn't take him off last Saturday and he picked up a small strain in his quad and Jordan Brown only being able to last 30mins.

Wellens said after FGR Tuesday that we badly needed to bring somebody in before Saturday, whether or not that happens we'll see. If no one is brought in then Tom James will likely move there and Adam Thompson will cover at full back. The rest of the team will be unchanged I'd have thought from last Saturdays win at Crawley.

Despite the 2 wins we've been a bit hit and miss performance wise. Once we scored our goals against Grimsby we should've won by more and last week at Crawley we managed to grind the win out but didn't create too much in a tight game.

Tuesday at FGR we should've scored at least once, my main gripe with us is we can be very wasteful in front of goal, FGR should've been punished on Tuesday a few times but weren't.

Reckon this will be a tight game again, both ours and Mansfields games have been tight so far. Mansfield have a better midfield than us which might be key in this game, at least Jordan Bowery won't be avaliable to score against us again.

Up at Harrogate. No one to discuss the game with on here.

We need a win. Before the season I though this might be our first points on the board. Let's hope I'm right.

Telford might have a problem getting back in the side after our attack looked better without him on Tuesday.

Tranmere away, tough one on paper. Certainly some sense of the tide turning towards positive after the last week or so, with back to back wins and clean sheets. We might have an extra body in the building before the weekend as well based on Harris' comments today.

Not sure how we'll set up as we've played both a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 and a 5-3-2 so far, but I'd lean towards the latter as Harris did point out that Tranmere played a similar formation so we might match them up. Not sure what that means for Jordan Green, who has been our most exciting player so far this season but doesn't really fit a 5-3-2. Personally I'd prefer to revert to the 4-2-3-1 shape.

Morris
Wright - Ehmer - Baggott - Law
Lee - Williams
Green - Reeves - Kashket
Mandron
Turner, Alexander, Tutonda, O'Keefe, Walker, Macdonald, New signing/Gbode

Tranmere were good at home last season, I'd probably take a point. Any result is a possibility though.

Few fixtures on the calendar scream "home banker" as much as Northampton vs Hartlepool. We have managed just six draws there in the 28 visits since our only win there way back in 1969. Nothing about the two squads gives me much hope that things will improve on Saturday.

Salford away for us. First real test to see if we've got a team able to challenge in this league or have we dropped lucky so far in laying two poor teams in Rochdale and Harrogate. After making alot of changes in the cup, I'd expect we will go back to the team that started both league games.

Okonkwo

Mellor Mcdonald Offord Williams

Thomas Uwakwe

Ainley

Brook Agyei Sambou

I'd take a draw right now and I think we're capable of getting one.

Salford 1-1 Crewe (Asante, Agyei) 2822 (1088 railwaymen)

All reports say Tuesday was a much improved performance so i'd hope we start with the same side and carry that on.

We actually have a decent home record v Grimsby so going to back us to win. Devante Rodney to continue scoring at home... 2-1.

Swindon would be a tough game as it is, but with the injury crisis at the club it’s going to be an almost impossible task.

We now have 10 players out injured or unfit to play. We’ll barely be able to field a back 3. The bench will be full of youth team and quite possibly some spots in the starting 11 will be too.

I’d be shocked if we manage to keep the scoreline under 4. Big big concerns.

Carlisle United 0-4 Swindon
Mckirdy obviously to score.

Swindon's performances under Scott Lindsey have been crap. I wouldn't be surprised if it were Carlisle 4-0 Swindon.

Quite the regular sound track played at Valley Parade - great tune!

We don’t have the best record against you lot. Losing three, drawing twice and winning just once.

Hopefully we can put this right on Saturday.

Same starting XI as per Hull in midweek.

Cook to continue his decent start to the season - as he generally does - until he eats too much again at Christmas.

2-1 City

Would be disappointed to lose at orient, but at the same stage could see it happening - imagine as terminator said it’ll be close, even when we win away it’s not by many like some seem to do.

we’ve been very wasteful infront of goal and need to improve this as a matter of urgency.

Sutton 0-3 Barrow as we continue our unstoppable advance towards the title.

In serious terms a point would be another one ticked off towards the 50 point target and would continue our fine start to the season. All depends on how physical Sutton's defence are, despite our forwards all in good form they are a little on the short side.

They mixed it up quite well against us, not pure long ball stuff at all. However after they regained the lead in 84th minute the gamesmanship was in full flow, aided and abetted by the ref as Danny Rose went down at the slightest touch got a free-kick every time and totally killed the game off.

Having played with wing-backs both games and most of pre-season, we reverted to a back four during the Accrington game and it worked quite well. Turnbull only played the first 45 isn't match-fit, maybe a place on the bench. Nevitt also missed Accrington through a dead leg and there are other players doubtful with knocks. We've got a decent record against the Gills and hopefully spirits lifted with the penalty shoot-out win. Agree it could go any way.

Not too concerned if they are physical being honest Clarke Monthe and Daniels can handle that kind of challenge pretty easily as a Tranmere fan you probably know that anyway.
