Another Six-Pointer Saturday.

Bolton v Stockport
Cambridge v Posh (game of the day, both a local derby AND a six-pointer)
Shrews v Burton

and what's that game at the bottom of the list...oh

great that Wxm were (apparently, according to their own fans) absolute wank tonight v Reading, but less good that they will desperately want to bounce back on Saturday.

From what I have read, they were playing for the draw tonight and it went a bit tits up, ironically if they play pure negativity-ball against us then that should stand them in very good stead as we're really not very good against it, and they could well scrape yet another 1-0 against us.

Will be a big result morale-wise if either of us wins on Saturday, but Wrexham's run-in is easier than ours and the bookies already have them as favourites to finish 2nd.

You're being too kind if you saw us call ourselves wank, wasn't even that good. At least that ends with a happy ending...Our performance was utterly utterly shit. Don't think I got even remotely excited once. PP has to shoulder the blame for the way we set up.

Loving this quote from the Wxm forum:

“We’ve lost our identity since all these new signings we’ve made. Smith looks a very capable signing but he should be playing with Fletcher, Palmer or Mullin, not Dogriguez.”

I’ll see your “lost our identity because we signed some players” and I’ll raise you a:

  • we lost our manager
  • we signed a bunch of players, most of whom have barely been in the squad let alone actually played
  • None of these were chosen by the new head coach and so he faces the odd task of having to integrate new players he may not even rate at all
  • We have a new club record 1m EUR signing who has played a full 30 mins of football since arrival…WTF would you sign someone who can’t hit the ground running?
  • We seem to have largely lost our attacking mojo and are feebly over-reliant on Kone
  • We’re crap at hold-up play and therefore helpless v a resolute defence
  • Can’t cross any more
  • Crap at set pieces
But anyway, maybe it should be Charlton everyone’s looking at for second instead, who knows.

Thankfully this looks like a nothing game, a chance to tease Evans about eating pies and shout 'Cameron Dawson, he's better than you' at Phillips as the third goal slams in.

Sounds like Saturday should be a classic!

Expecting our bubble to burst at any moment but if you two draw and we win, we will be 3 points off although with Wycombe having the game in hand. We play both of you in the last 3 games. So if we keep our really solid form going and stay within a couple of points, it could potentially be in our hands going into the final 3 games. Watch us lose to Wigan on Saturday now

Really enjoying the Wycombe v Wrexham humbleathon, "our wheels will fall off quicker than you" "no ours will", apparently stumbling towards that second place finishing line like two dehydrated marathon runners with a bit of poo dribbling down their leg.

Considering our position, beating the scum is the only real objective left this season. They bloody well better be up for this one.

the reverse trash talk can only intensify from here.

It feels incredibly sulky and spoiled to be whining about the prospect of maybe having to stoop to the playoffs (albeit those are still far from guaranteed) when my pre-season prediction was an 8th-10th finish, but it would still feel a bit disappointing at this stage.

I do think that others are coming into form at the right time for the run-in though, whereas we're very much not.

I'm really looking forward to this game. Pressure is off a bit, plenty of opportunities for good craic. New ground to tick off for me, since the last time I was up there it was at the Don Valley watching us get promoted. Night out in Sheffield should be fun.

Would be a travesty if you didn't at least have one in the Sheffield Tap (to righthand side as you exit the station) bloody lovely in there.

Quite frequently have a 50 minute stop over in Sheffield for the connecting train to manchester if leave it too late getting back so manage to get a couple of sneaky Jaipurs in if Ale is your thing.

The Tap isn't the same since they stopped you entering from the platform

Agreed, but folk were doing it to avoid going through the barriers, crafty sods.

Still worth a visit.

I think I'll take a comfortable 2-0 defeat and one DKD goal, with no celebration.

Surprisingly he hasn't been better than Phillips.

I fully expected Dawson to be the No 1 this season but it hasn't worked out for him so far. I don't particularly rate Phillips either, but he has been the better of the two.

We need a new No 1 for next season, neither of these two are good enough if we hope to try for the play offs.

Obviously we were spoiled by Victor Johansson, I thought Dawson would be a good signing.
Maybe he'll come good next season, who knows?

Safe journey up, it looks like being a nice sunny day but a bit cold.

I'm ready to campaign for 1 up 1 down in this league.
