Terrible weren't we (both). Obviously I want to win but that will just paper over the cracks for the time being. As far as us being dreadful, well, we sold Harrods players and replaced with free/cheap Aldi special buys.
Yep. It was a bit of a bore.

It looked like two bottom half scrappers attempting to play League One football (and not doing it very well).

Not long home from Pompey. Another impeccable minutes silence for The Queen.

Pompey the better side in the first half, great finish by Koroma. We had a lot of the ball in the first 20 minutes of the second half but didn’t do much with it. Got the goal that was slowly coming if a little fortunate and just like at Derby, that put the wind in our sails to grab the impetus in the game and get another.

Of course we then go and give a red card away and fucking concede for ANOTHER 2-2. Ridiculous. I even said to my mate after we scored “this is perfectly setup for another 2-2” and then not long after comes the inevitable.

Pompey played well, have a clear identity in their 4-4-2, get the ball out wide and hit the strikers, it’s direct, not necessarily pretty but it works. Marlon Pack was class in midfield.

I think we could both be in the top six come the end of the season.

I thought mk were dreadful when we played them and yet they beat us 2-0! In fairness they just got lucky with 2 long range shots. How on earth they were up there last season I am mystified by.

What's happened to Oxford? I thought they would push on this season and be up there.
We haven’t recruited at all well. Fundamentally our once resourceful recruitment in 18 months has been trumped by other clubs who adopted a similar model and generally do it better than we did so very well over the last few years.

On the pitch we don’t have any full backs (not even bad ones). We just don’t have any. Today we had a centre half and a central attacking midfielder at wing back. We also have one fit striker but insist on playing two whilst not having a single fit senior winger.

We also don’t have enough centre halves to play three. Mousinho plays right now but he’s (35?) and is considered more of a Coach.

Our goalkeeper also isn’t very good.

And we don’t have any physicality in midfielder.

Simply, it’s a bit of a mess!

You reckon you’ll be recalling Stevens in January then? He was man of the match for us at Barnsley and done well overall even if his kicking has been a little iffy.

Sounds like Robinson has lost the plot! I like Oxford and they are a team we should aspire to...a settled league 1 team, who until this season were incrementally improving themselves to push on to the next level.

He's a good shot stopper and is pretty good at claiming balls but his kicking definitely needs work!

Could of had 3 against Portsmouth and a couple on stone wallers in the two games against Burton on Garrity but otherwise yeah not really many I recall.
Wow, it's suddenly gone up to three pens now. Any more offers?

Harrison one which was a stone waller and the two in the same passage of play just before half time (although get one the other doesn’t happen).

He had a decent game against Barnsley, all be it saves you expect a L1 keeper to make, even the Cole one second half was straight at him.

Still personally not fully sold on him yet. Kicking is awful. Does seem harsh on Stone.

Fair play to Burton, they fully deserved the win and probably should have won by more.

We’re lacking defensive options and it shows, but what annoyed me the most is that our midfield were outplayed today. Very few forward passes from Harper and Collins plus we seemed to lose lots of second balls too.

Jevani had an off day but Stansfield looked extremely lively but he lacked support. For Burton, Adeboyejo was a handful and Brayford was really solid for them. I expect they’ll get themselves out of danger if today was anything to go by.

Need three points next week in the early Super Saturday game vs FGR.

Beaten fair and square at Pride Park today.

Another quality goal from Anis Mehmeti early doors - who will inevitably not be with us much past January - and we were on top in general for about the first 20 minutes, Derby looking like all pretty football and no cutting edge.

But they got better as the half went on, and the passing started to stretch us more effectively, leading to more chances.

In the second half, I don’t know whether we were just knackered from all our pressing, but we just barely saw any of the ball, and Derby were having more and more shots, and then eventually got an equaliser. We just looked out of ideas at that point, and DCFC deserved their winner.

Not counting the Tinpot Trophy, our next 2 games are Wednesday (A) and Plymouth (H). We’ll have to be far better than we were today to get anything from either of them, to be honest.

Considering your lots reaction in signing Stansfield the messiah, your lots results certainly havn’t matched the hype

I doubt it (unless a new Manager comes in and sees fit to recall him).

Stevens was being courted by Villa and Arsenal in January. Despite being (25?), due to quotas I suspect if he has a good season and is playing games he’ll be sold and utilised as a second or third choice goalkeeper somewhere.

He hadn’t been performing for some time with us so I think he’s best/we also signing Ed McGinty from Sligo so he’ll likely take over from Eastwood before January.

Felt really flat after Cheltenham, but the last game and a half have turned a relatively poor start in a decent enough one now. Shame we didn’t hold on against Cheltenham or we’d be right up in and around the play offs.

Probably around 1/4 of the way to safety though after 9 games so leaves some spare if we keep the current form over the season so about where we’d want to be at this stage.

We look much better now Wilson is back and Massey is fit enough to start and Butterworth looks promising.

Will say though for all the slating he has had as the new scapegoat DJ was probably man of the match yesterday.

Harrison is looking a steal of a signing so far, real fans favourite and 5 in his first 7 is decent. Love the fact he was really unhappy with his performance yesterday despite scoring both goals! Works his absolute nuts off and seems to really thrive under DC who gave him his chance in the game originally.

Everything pre January 2022 we had largely done well (beyond recruiting physicality in midfield and full backs but this had been an issue for years) was basically spot on for a club our size.

Now we are throwing money around (our supposedly better players are now on £6k - £10k). We just haven’t executed it at all well and it smacks of desperation and a bit of a struggle attracting players. We don’t have the squad depth and we don’t have players which are relevant to our style of football or formation. It’s a mess.

I still have a soft spot for Gobby Robby but like all managers, there comes a time when he has to go and it seems that time is now. I did think he might progress up the leagues a bit but I suspect that he is now in the league one journeyman managers group. It shows a manager has to move when his stock is high or risk getting left in the mediocrity arena.

By the way, what's Oxfords primary goal. Get out of league 1 or get out of (or buy) the Kassam. It's got to be holding you back.

Methinks Mr Diamond is going to be a marked man if he keeps this form up!
4 games with us and he's scored 4 and we've got 11 in total.
Risen 12 places in a week, just need to learn how to defend away from home!

I think you’d be hard pressed to find many people saying Stansfield would be the ‘messiah’. This was so much more than signing an exciting young player, and as 99.9% of fans realise it means way more than that. Sadly, your post just shows the small minded and frankly cretinous nature of the 0.1%.

Maybe the fact you’re in the same league as little old Exeter once again is becoming a too regular occurrence?!

Not only did Sky christen our game with Argyle the "Dockyard Derby" a few years back, I've recently heard it described as the Dockside Derby :lac:and congrats to the D3D4 podcast for now calling it the Docklands Derby. How about we just stop calling it a derby. If this is a derby then so is Liverpool vs Newcastle or Swansea vs Leicester.

If ever sky call our game with argyle the a38 derby, then you know it’s time to cancel your subscription.
