In seasons gone by Mansfield v Carlisle would be a nailed on candidate for its own thread but things are a lot quieter here these days sadly.

Given we struggle to put two wins together am fully expecting a huge letdown performance from Vale against Salford. Just the nature of where we are at presently as a team. At least can confidently predict whatever happens we will finish the day in 10th as per usual.

Maybe not we will finally have a chance to go upwards!

Its a tough test again and at home we have been different gravy so have a chance. If we can win we head into a run against Northampton/FGR/Col U which would be huge games if we are on the verge of the top 7 with a win Saturday.

With the top two playing each other in really hoping we can capitalize on that and get the win at Walsall. We've only been playing well in spells though over the last 3 or 4 games. Walsall seem to be on very poor form though losing to Carlisle and Morecambe in the last two. Hopefully we can bring in an extra body, either up top or at the back as were very thin on the ground at the moment.

Walsall 1-3 Crewe (Lavery, Powell 2, Finney) 4,744 (826 Crewe)

Walsall are an odd one, really struggling, then hit good form, shot up the table and then lost to two strugglers.

Need to keep our good run going, our away form isn’t as good as our home form but I fancy us to beat Macclesfield on Saturday.

Sorry but only one match truly matters - the CUFC one. Can only see another (heavy) defeat on the horizon, and with it, our chances of winning the much coveted CUFC league aka 'Ibehredivisie', 'Jaboliga' and 'Serie Jabo' :ffs:

Looks to me Shoddy is no longer up for it, and who could blame him, so here are the match results so far.

Col U 1 Cambridge 2
Carlisle 0 Cambridge 0
Col U 3 Carlisle 0

3 Macclesfield players have gone to the EFL to ask for their contracts to be terminated apparently, another uncertain match preparation for Macc

We only managed 5 subs last night, and Stephens went off injured so could be interesting.

Hessentaller has a broken rib, shoulder ligament damage and a punctured lung, so he might struggle to even make the bench on Saturday. Hopefully his teammates will win without him, it's only the villagers.

Salford playing well and scoring quite a few goals lately. We dont seem to be able put 2 wins together so a score draw 2 2 is my prediction.

I too cannot wait to lose to Stevenage with us probably battering them with chances - Only to lose 3-0, which has happened to us this season.

We're useless away from home. Oldham just beat Mansfield 3-1 who battered us 3-0 last week and we'll be missing the obvious players. No idea how this one goes.

Fucking hell if Mansfield didn’t have the best striker in the league we would be rock bottom.

Good game on Sat vs FGR, two sides playing nice passing football. First 15 mins a bit scrappy, then we scored a great team goal with plenty of passes from our own box all the way up the field with a good finish.

After that we were well on top and FGR hardly touched the ball until an amazing individual goal that nobody was saving brought them back into it.

Second half was very even both scoring another decent goal each. Draw fair result in the end but some good passing football on display for a change. If that's how Holloway wants us to play more often I'll be happy watching us the rest of the season even if we don't win, then hopefully he gets in more players up to playing like that in the summer.

Enjoyable mauling of a terrible, terrible Stevenage side in conditions that should have suited them (high winds and a bobbly pitch). We were a class apart going forward and dealt with their set pieces pretty easily. They are a typical Westley’s Land Of The Giants side, but this is probably the tallest, most physical Orient side* in living memory, so we’re well-suited to a battle.

*The Brylcreem brothers Josh Wright and Jordan Maguire-Drew dishonourably excepted.

Carlisle were completely shite too, first goal was took by the wind and was freakish and the second was purely down to Mansfield as per bottling under any pressure.

I think we were the better team, but the only reason we could score is we have a striker that has no business being at this level.

We weren't shite it was the awful conditions with the wind etc it effected every match in the country and our first goal was no fluke, just a moment of pure intended brilliance.

to be fair the wind played a big part in your first goal as well.

Delighted with the point though, however shite we were. It’s a point more than I expected.

The field mill pitch was the biggest surprise of the day. Considering Mansfield have actual footballers in their team I was surprised by the surface they are expected to play on. No wonder you’ve been shit at home.

Surface is in good condition all considered, better than the average L2 pitch - the bit under the Ian Greaves struggles but other than that it’s fine?

Also you can get fucked, don’t stop being pessimistic now because you got a point at the WORST home team in the division! Everybody with half a brain goes to Field Mill expecting at least a point.

Mansfield’s pitch was a cabbage patch when we played there Boxing Day! Right mess. Mind you Newport’s looks worse on the highlights, egg chasers play there?

For the second time in 3 seasons we conceded a 30 yarder at home to FGR, although this time it was actually one of their own players that scored it. :bg:
