Just waiting for Burton to announce they’ve finally binned off JFH. Almost always happens just before a team is due to play us. Though they are I think the team closest to us geographically in this league nothing but respect for them and how they are run.

We need to start being more incisive up top or at least with some more pace. We’re doing a fair amount of good stuff without really threatening too much. Seen enough already this season to say you are more likely get punished here than we would have last season.

Some good fixtures again, obviously Bolton Vs Wednesday the pick.

My bets have been terrible so far but Bolton @ 15/8 and Barnsley @ 13/10 look good value.

Won't be taking Rovers for granted but confidence is growing in this group of players.

Big game for us at Burton, we've got to try and get a result of sorts here or the meltdown from yesterday night will intensify!

We have rested a few key players last night so look likely to have Mal Benning, Lewis Cass and possibly Gavin Massey back, Worrall I am not sure, he is back on grass but doubtful.

Exeter aside we are playing well enough but lacking that real killer instinct in front of goal, Procs only played half hour so I would be tempted to go two strikers with him and Harrison, bring back Mal Benning who has been decent and go as strong as we can XI wise rather than rotating and resting with a week until the next game.

My first away of the season (being from NW Leicestershire its my most local!) so hopefully we can take the points and have a similar decent away day to the FA Cup one last season.

We will be without Jevani Brown, the first of three games on international duty (i know).
But we are supposed to be getting in a new signing by the weekend, and a striker is top of our shopping list (despite being the top scorers in League One...)

Clearly we won't win 7-0 again but I still fancy us to edge this. 7000 crowd possible

Also not expecting another 7-0 as our first team is at least competent - however we can't buy a goal at the moment and your good form suggests you should win this.

It's only natural therefore that we'll win 1-0 :gr:

You’ll come good at some point, so I’m not getting carried away to think we’ll win this. And I imagine you’ll want to ram any talk of that 7-0 down our throats, so it’s probably going to be a very tough game.

Also no Jevani for us is a big miss which could make us a much weaker threat going forward.

Fancy a draw. 2-2

Expecting a defeat to Barnsley, a narrow one is OK, a draw would be good just to steady the ship but I’m taking nothing for granted.

Opening day aside, there’s no question we have started poorly, or that we haven’t quite strengthened where we needed to if we are even serious about another playoff shot.

Confidence and solidity in the defence is the biggest concern from a side used to being pretty tight at the back.

Plus we are used to playing with a target man (Vokes) and I think he’s barely been injured since he signed - now he is injured, it’s clear we desperately need to have a backup up front to be a physical nuisance, as our tiki-taka skillz are far from enough to magically pass it into the goal.

So I’m not being a bedwetter, we’re not a bad side, but we are clearly off the pace right now - at least Ainsworth has admitted it, some managers wouldn’t. I think we’ll come good, but not by Saturday vs yet a presumably strong Barnsley side.

We have a horrible record at Pompey. However we’re pretty game on/game off in performances so hopefully we turn up on Saturday.

Desperately short of a squad, hopefully we get 1 or 2 in before the weekend

Marquis guaranteed to scuff one in and cup his ears to the Fratton End. You'll have to work harder than us to get a result. Our players and subs run and run all day

We played better last night - although I did not go as I have boycotted into he goes ( so have about 1,000 of our fans too ). The fans are split - most want him out, some are happy with last night and see some shoots of recovery. I’m not sold on that.
When JFH did his post match interviews some fan in the boxes opened the door and shouted down to him to fuck off. He called him out and invited him down to talk / he declined.
So the manager is well aware the fanbase is hacked off.
And here is the thing - the squad is capable. Kellor dunne looks good and scored a hat trick Saturday. But the manager puts people in the wrong positions and brings people off at the wrong times. It’s why he has to go ( and the Barnsley affair )
But he will be there Saturday
Lose and he is gone I think.
Win and he stays another week.
I think it’s got 0-0 written all over it.

I would be VERY happy if we can avoid defeat. However I think Peterborough will have too much for us and run out comfortable winners.

really? Did he leave under a cloud?
Pompey fans couldn't stand him near the end. Very pleased to see him go. Paid £1.5m for him and just didn't do it for us. He'll get the "we've seen you before, your f'ing useful we've seen you before" chants

Not really. Just disappointment all round that it never really worked out.

However, if Marquis does get stick from our fans then he'd be perfectly entitled to give us the ear. He's more likely to do his silly walk though.

Hard work isn’t our problem, we’ll work as hard as any team out there. Skill and composure would be our downfall.

We were deers in headlights at Barnsley

I don't see us scoring 2, but I do see it being a draw, either 0-0 or 1-1.

What chant is that cos it is very very camp and being useful is hardly an insult.

The win on Tuesday has taken a little bit of pressure off heading into Saturday although I suspect Posh will have a bit too much going forward for us. They always seem able to offer the opposition one or two chances so hopefully we can take advantage of that.

It seems as though we've put all our eggs in one basket for Saturday after a really disappointing result on Tuesday. MK looked no better than league 2 , yet we gave away 2 very poor goals and don't look very cohesive in attack.

In fairness, we started last season a bit like this. Pretty decent in general play but lacking in the final 3rd . Then we went away to FGR, beat them easily and went on from there.

Clarke has said that we're likely to have some disappointments over the next month or so. I'm convinced that he's virtually writing off these first few weeks until everyone is fully up to speed, so any points gained are a bonus.

We're still 'miles off' where we want to be according to the manager, so it's a good time to play us. Hopefully the negative atmosphere at Burton will play into our hands.

We were far from our best against Burton and it was clear for all to see that we missed Burns & Donacien's link up down the right flank. Winning those kind of scrappy games 1-0 though is a very good sign.

I expect a similar approach from Shrewsbury and another test. Could really cement our good start with another away win, and with Burns likely fit I'm sure we'll cause them problems.

0-2

Yeah I reckon a draw might be on the cards. A little bit of overconfidence perhaps following the Wycombe result and the 7-0, plus no Jevani. Even if we get someone in I doubt they'd start so soon. MJ up front probably?

Could see a 0-0 or even 0-1, possibly in the manner of those results last season where we have 20 shots and no goals.

Rams at home and easily one of the biggest games of the season. They've sold out their ticket allocation and truth be told could fill half the stadium given the opportunity. Looks like we'll be with Callum Morton and Carlos Mendes so light up front, mind you Joe Garner will more than make up for it. If we get a draw that will be a tremendous result.....
