Mansfield v Bolton game still to be played, which will slightly alter a few league positions.
Both clubs last 6 results will also be incorrect but everything is good as at 4pm Wednesday.

Hopefully a new manager bounce. No idea how we will set up or what personnel they will go for. Since Tranmere 11 days ago the club has been overhauled behind the scene.

Danny Pugh, Frank Sinclair and Billy Paynter is now Darrell Clarke, Danny Pugh and David Flitcroft so hopefully that will see us better set up.

All players registered given a chance so Theo Robinson might claim a stake at the club here.

Felt we were absolutely mugged at Vale Park against Orient, second half we battered them but undid ourselves first half with a colossal mix up at the back and a typical late defeat once the hard work had been done.

Would like to win this but who knows? Injuries as far as we know are clearing up and with a break and new management team hopefully we can start to turn the mess around. Have the players for it but need to sort the errors out.

Recent results veer towards a FGR away win.
Newport have had some excellent results against one of their near neighbours but they now have that monkey on their back in that no home team has won against other team.
Newport's pitch is notorious which will prevent FGR's smooth passing game. However FGR's last win against Oldham was one where they got the rub of the green.
Teams near top of table consistently get that bit of luck so Lady Luck is in our corner.
My prediction is an away win [Joker] for FGR although I would not be surprised if Chris plumps for a score draw.

Feels like ages since we last played.

We tore apart Harrogate at their place, it was one of our rare performances where we were better than the opposition. I don't think it'll be as easy this time.

Cheltenham away - always goals in this fixture. Fairly awful league record at Whaddon Road, though. Haven’t won their since 2009 - James Hanson scored his first goal for the club.

I can only see one change - Rowe coming in for Cook. The latter certainly puts in a shift, but is very ineffective in comparison to Rowe - in particular around the final third.

GK: Sam Hornby

RB: Anthony O’Connor
CB: Paudie O’Connor
CB: Niall Canavan
LB: Connor Wood

DCM: Levi Sutton
DCM: Elliot Watt

RW: Charles Vernam
CAM: Callum Cooke
LW: Gareth Evans

CF: Danny Rowe

I’d take a draw, but given our form, I wouldn’t be surprised to see us return to West Yorkshire with all 3 points.

hopefully see some sort of bounce, big rest for the players, chance for some of the injured players to get fit with missing a game last weekend, and a week of working under a new manager, assuming they're going to want to try and impress.

not sure on the injury status of a lot of them hoping Gibbons is fit at least.

going off clarkes interview i can't see us going to try and grab a point. i think this game is more about signs of life than the result though.

Despite drawing loads at Walsall he does seem keen on winning every game so hopefully we will go there and be positive, we had a right go second half at Vale Park against them and they were exposable but we lacked the cutting edge on the day.

Just need a real positive result to get confidence going and not against one of the bottom 2.

Intrigued to see what happens with the lads who’d been pushed out such as Leggey and Theo and what formation we go for.

Exeter fans, it’s supposed to be pissing it down all day tomorrow and Friday, I’m going to guess the game is in serious doubt?

Im hoping with all your millions in the bank that you may have covers?

Ideally we'll start creating chances for our strikers, the amount of goals we score is crazy really considering we don't really ever seem to create clear cut chances for them. we've passed to Gurthrie about 6 times since he signed for us, feel sorry for him really.

Crawley v Colchester

Two mediocre sides on a run of poor form. This could be the cure for insomnia.

7-5 either way it is then.

We’ve won on our last two visits to Exeter so therefore I’m presuming we’ll be favourites to win there again.

Tranmere vs Oldham, I'd have been looking forward to this needle match. Plenty of history between the sides. Bloody Covid.

I had Oldham down as this seasons basket case with the Lemsagam circus in control at Boundary Park. Kewell has done well considering the shenanigans going on.
Should be a good game with plenty of goals!

We haven't played for 2 weeks due to the weather with 2 away games being called off, so its back to back home games.

Hoping the break has meant we can get a few of our injured players back - particularly Danny Johnson, this 2 week period with no game may benefit it in that way with him our best striker fit and ready again, or it will go the other way and when the fixtures do come thick and fast we will lose more players to injury quickly.

We've also had 2 0-0's in a row as well, we've looked alot more solid as a team since Nick Freeman and Adam Thompson have come in.

Be interesting to see how Darrell Clarke sets up Port Vale to play against us, his Walsall teams were quite fond of balls over the top of our backline, which have worked in our last 2 games with Walsall.

New managers first games can end in defeat as much as win in my experience, sometimes the new bounce can take a few weeks to come into affect. We shall see, I would expect us to piss around with possession at some point.

All the best really hope he does better for you than he did for us have you got a giant upfront that he can hoof it up to? thats all he did here sometimes it worked but it was awful to watch.

We’ve Pope he is ideal and probably the best at this level at that... but he’s injured until April!

Guthrie is a big lad and played for Stevenage so should be ok as a hold up man.

Not sure on Swan, he looked a big lad when he came on at Tranmere, guess if you play Rodney of a big man that could work with his pace and finishing.

Our fate will be decided by our defending again I dare say, we score plenty of goals, one of the highest scorers in the league but since November have haemorrhaged goals with some ridiculous errors at the back. His main task will be sorting that problem. Sort that we will be fine this season. Easier said than done though.

Crazy to think after 10 games we had easily the best defence in the division statistically yet with the same players it’s now one of the worst!

Positive for tomorrow is looks as though Gibbo was fully training after missing Tranmere after his long term return against Southend the week before so hopefully no Mills and Gibbo starts as he is such a big player for us, like a Ferrari compared to a 90s Escort between the two!

im not one for demanding 'nice' football. if we create chances then the game is exciting and i'm happy. who cares about watching your centre backs pass it between each other for 2 minutes at a time.

that being said, the hoof ball can cross a line when it's literally all you do. the only real 'identity' that vale have is using wingers i would say, so i don't mind if create a lot of heading chances or if we football everyone to death and create a tap in.

a few people at vale moaned about Micky Adam's style, i can't comprehend how anyone would have an issue with it really, i loved it. that promotion season we went into every game thinking we'll score 3 here. didn't give a flying fuck if we went 0-1 down as we all knew 1 goal wasn't enough for the other team. it was brilliant.

that being said, Carol did make a point of saying that attacking football was a requirement for the new manager before we appointed clarke so i'm sure that will have been discussed at least.

People moaned Micky was a dinosaur despite us winning promotion, scoring the most goals in the land, hammering promotion rivals 6-2, 5-2 and 7-1 adding in to numerous 4-0 and 3-0 wins and the odd 4-1 I’d do anything to relive that season again!

That night against Burton under the lights with 10k rammed in Vale Park and the return of the old promotion squad and Rudge at half time is one of my favourite nights ever as a Vale fan. 7-1, atmosphere absolutely electric even during half time. Took them apart and they were a side right on our coat tails at the time.

They are the rare times we live through this shit like 4 of the last 5 seasons for.

As per most successful seasons Vale have had since the early 90s built on two exciting wingers JMW and Ashley Vincent were unplayable.

Harks back to the days of Jeffers, Steve Guppy, Jon McCarthy et al. Get the wingers on our wide pitch get the crosses in happy days... frustratingly Askey decided to make the pitch really narrow this year! No idea why after last seasons success at home you would want to stifle Worrall, Amoo and Rodders!

we haven't played Morecambe at home in the EFL yet - but do have 23 previous home meetings with them in non-league or cup matches. P23 W11 D6 L6.
We lost 1-0 at theirs earlier in the season - after getting a player wrongly sent off* in the 1st 20 mins or so (another rescinded red card). We owe them one. 2-1 to Barrow (please!)

Edit - in their wisdom the FA/EFL/whoever have appointed the same referee (and I assume other officials?) as the Morecambe v Barrow match.... he owes us one too after that red card.

I expect us to put in a better showing against weaker opposition than the last three teams we've played (Bradford, Cambridge and Salford), and anything less than a win is a bit useless really. However, I think Morecambe will nick it.

One of my favourite fixtures this - one of the first I’d look out for. Shame I can’t see it being on our fixture list next season!

We’ll get beat but should be an entertaining game.

Was thoroughly looking forward to beating a very out-of-sorts Vale until I saw their (excellent) new managerial appointment. Considering we haven't scored in the league in 4 consecutive games I'm expecting us to be trumped by their new manager bounce - just our luck really.

That said, we should never have come away from Burslem with all 3 points earlier in the year, thought Vale looked excellent in the second half in the reverse fixture and probably should have won that game.

We will likely have top scorer Danny Johnson back, but he hasn't played for over a month, and despite our new signings looking quite tasty the fact that we haven't scored a single goal in approximately 400 minutes of football is concerning (especially as we've played lolton, out of form Colchester and an abject crawley town in that run).

Away win, 0 - 2.

Bring on next season as far as I'm concerned.

Forgot we had Salford. I was thinking ahead to Tranmere.

We'll see how they are. If they're as bad as they were last time we played them, we'll win. But they are obviously putting in good performances here and there, usually when nobody's looking.

Chris Beech seems to think the squad are up to speed with regular football. This would be good news but also could just be him putting a positive spin on things. I wonder if we'll be making changes to the squad to try and manage the frequency of games. Be good to see Cedwyn Scott maybe get a go.
