In that unlikely event, the next separating criteria is wins. Which given Sutton only have 9 and Colchester have 11, would Col U stay up. I doubt it comes to that though.
You'd need a bit to go against you for you to drop out of the Play Offs but I reckon if you asked Bell and Cowley whether they'd play out a 0-0 they'd shake on it.

Surely got draw written all over it.

You can see it now, then when Crewe are basically in reverse with minutes to go them shit houses will pump one over the top and steal a winner.

This is the dilemma our manager has. If he plays for a draw, he could end up with egg on his face should results suddenly swing against us. I'd much rather he pushes for the win. Not everyone forward, caution to the wind stuff, but don't play for a point as you risk looking stupid if it backfires.

That went about as badly as it could have tonight, utterly awful in every way. Doncaster weren't even trying to score any more goals when it was 2-1 and we still managed to blow the goal difference a bit further! Horrendous evening.

Those 4-0 and 3-0 defeats at Bradford and Doncaster make sense now.

Bradford fans:
“Yes we’ve still got a shot at the play offs, just need Barrow and Crawley to drop points for us to have a chance”

“So let’s see who they’ve got, so Barrow have got Mansfield, nice one happy with that”

“So let’s see who Crawley have got…….
Oh for fuck sake!”

After last night, I'm fairly confident that one of Barrow and Crawley will drop points now. My bet is Barrow. I think Crawley win which ends Bradford's season, Barrow's season and Walsall's unrealistic playoff hopes.

But I remember going into a last day relegation battle a few years ago where if we lost we'd still need 3 results to go against us to get relegated. And that very nearly happened until Gillingham bailed us out against Notts County in the dying minutes of the season. Luckily, I think we'll have players back for Saturday that have been out for a while so I'm more optimistic of getting the result we need at Colchester now.

Would rather face MK than Doncaster in the playoffs because MK are absolutely jinxed in the playoffs. Still got no optimism we'll go up but it's cup football at the end of the day. Look at the last two playoff winners, they both entered the playoffs in shocking form and still went up. Let's just gloss over the fact that both have since been relegated back to this level...

Wild only does well when the pressure is off and he can play the underdog card. That's why I never rate him a good fit for some of the jobs he's linked to.

He may be able to play it Saturday, big up Mansfield to the hilt as League One bound wonder boys and grab a win.

Bradford still in it but they not only need Barrow to lose they need to have Crawley not beat an on the beach Grimsby.

What a run from Doncaster. It's got heroic run to the final and then damp squib passed off the park 3-0 defeat to MK Dons at Wembley written all over it though from where I'm sitting.

Exactly my thoughts, I think if MK get to Wembley they will definitely win at the final.

If Sutton win 3-0 and Colchester lose 1-0 on Saturday they will both be on the same points, same goal difference, same goals scored and same goals conceded. and they’ve drawn 1-1 both games with each other

That’s a humongous if. We’ll be a bag of nerves in the stands if we come out of the away leg with a chance.
Thing you’ve got going for you though is you will probably be playing an out of form team in Barrow or Crawley who have both been shitting the bed recently.
I know it could still be Bradford but that depends on us getting something at Crawley which is possible but unlikely.

The next decider is games won, so we would just about come on top with 11 wins versus 10.

That won't matter with us. We were the strongest team in 21/22 and coming into the Play Offs in decent form (6W, 2D, 2L from last 10) and went and fucked it away at Wycombe because we decided to play it their way instead of our own. I definitely wouldn't call ourselves the strongest team going in the play offs at the moment.

The Alex have successfully appealed Ryan Cooney's red card from Saturday. Quite right too.

Was obviously a handball and a free kick but certainly wasn't a goalscoring opportunity which is why it was a ridiculous decision to award a red card in the first place. Not that it would've changed anything mind given we were bobbins on the day.

Had to laugh at one of the BBC post match interview questions for Jamie Robson last Saturday.

"Could it make a difference, back end of last season after being relegated you lost most of your games, whereas this time after being relegated you've responded with a win?"

Talk about scraping the barrel looking for positives. Gotta feel for Robbo, only been here 18 months and gone down twice.

We owe Colchester a favour after they beat Preston a few years ago for us to secure promotion from League 1.

I’m guessing Preston must’ve still gone up through the play offs that season then because my Sister in law used to like in Milton Keynes and we were visiting her on the day of your first home game in the Championship and I’m sure it was against Preston.

They did, yeah. If I remember rightly Preston came to us that day unbeaten in about 27 games or something ridiculous, and just needing a result to go up. Whilst as well as winning our game, we also still needed about three other results to go in our favour so would have been very long odds on us staying up that day.

I've just checked and it was 18 unbeaten, so not quite 27 haha.

They were quality that season, under the dinosaur Simon Grayson of all people. We blew a big game thanks to an own goal against Chesterfield and they popped us to the playoffs, it turned out to be irrelevant as it was one season when the best team won them comfortably. Think that was the season Aidan Flint got like 15 goals for Bristol City and they beat us 6-0 to secure the title. Not kept an eye on League 1 since we dropped, but it was quality back then, this feels like a pub League in comparison tbh.
