Cambridge and Cheltenham to be promoted this weekend ?

Impressive seasons for both.

The former probably weren’t seen as one of the favourites and the other bounced back well after play off disappointment last season.

Stevenage at home for us. It's usually a pretty big game in terms of crowd as their ground is only about half an hour away from ours and we had a decent rivalry with them in the Conference. So it's a shame from that point of view that we can't be there.

Anyway, forget all that - it's all about three points on Saturday. Win and we're promoted.

Forest Green remain doggedly at base of current form table, even with the new manager bounce.

Crawley are little better in same table, down in bottom half.

But this is a BIG game for FGR that could help determine whether they stay in play-offs while Crawley will end season mid-table whatever.

Jimmy Ball’s team does not seem as concerned as in Mark Cooper’s reign to lose possession of ball if they are more of a threat to the opposing goalkeeper. Obviously the defence must be more alert but alas it has shown a few frailties that Crawley could exploit.

Jimmy Ball is a great motivator and has reminded his team that they were in auto-promotion spot for much of season so they are indeed a very good side. One piece of good luck and FGR could steam towards play-offs in remaining games of season. But even the most optimistic thinks that auto-promotion is now too far away.

My forecast is a FGR away win.

You'd think, playing 4th from bottom, I'd be really confident of almost clinching promotion on Saturday night.

Then you look at our record against the bottom 4....

Easy 3 points for Port Vale.

We are playing as bad now as we were under McCall at the beginning of the season.

The honeymoon period for Trueman & Sellars well and truly over now, lots of fans already wanting them demoted back to the youth team.

A very bizarre post match interview last night with Trueman suggests they are out of their depth. Still glad we didn't go with Paul Hurst though

Season end cannot come quick enough for me now

Stevenage will come to spoil the party and try to frustrate and hit us on the break. They had a mini revival but now seem to be heading for mid table so this should be the game we are finally confirmed as promoted. A point will do but let's do it in style and win by 3-0.

Seems a long time ago now but are they just appointed until the end of the season or longer? Suppose from where Bradford were when they took from McCall they have done what they needed to this season if not necessarily the long term answer.

Not sure what sort of team we'll use for this so this game could go a number of ways, presumably will be a bit more experimentation. Hopefully Will Swan gets a good run for the last few games now as I would really like to explore bringing him back next season.

Tough game, would love to keep the run we are on going and another clean sheet towards trying to get the club record. Keep saying we are due a shitter which hasnt come but is always as Clarke puts it a kick in googlies around the corner.

We will make changes again, expect the same backline mainly down to injuries, maybe Gibbons back in.

Assume unless injured Rodney will be back in so would like to see Pope have a go with him to start as that looked promising in the one game they had together.

They did a brilliant job whilst in their caretaker/interim roles and pulled us away from the drop zone.

I think the initial thought process from our CEO was to keep the interim title and review in the summer. However, there was rumoured interest in them from another club and all of a sudden they were given contracts until the end of 21/22 season. Since they signed those contracts we have reverted to performances seen under McCall. I've a feeling the new CEO is now regretting the longer contract.

Trueman and Sellars had previously being done a brilliant job with the youth team.

But you just know...

7 wins and a draw in the last 8 v 3 straight defeats
5 clean sheets in a row and barely look like conceding v a side that's goal shy

Its just set up for an away win isnt it football being football?!

The game at Valley Parade was dour, we had the injuries of course but neither side looked capable of scoring so expect another tight one.

Looking at that results table shows Crawley are normally piss poor v FGR.

Play like away to Bradford and we have a chance. Play like away to Newport and we will have our backsides handed to us.

I really don't know who is going to turn up. We seem to have a player play well and is then dropped and you never hear anything as to why. Tsaroulla and Powell casualties of this at Newport.

It will be interesting to see how we line up up top. Nichols banned for the rest of the season means we only have two strikers. Nadesan and Rodri....Rodri was playing step 7 football before Xmas and with the best will in the world is still learning. Nadesan will run the channels all day but can't hold the ball up for others to join in. Our best tactic maybe to sit deep and try to hit on the break...another maybe to surrender before the game. Well that's what we seemed to do against Newport.

Morecambe were terribly bad at their place but beat us 1-0 with a park the bus, but looked very good (all be it a bit toothless) against us last week when we beat them 1-0!

A win against Barrow and that should be the playoffs secured. Should Morecambe and Bolton draw then we’ve got an outside shot of top 3 but would be happy to just cement a top 7 place.

our players have been on the beach for a week already - so you should win easily.

I suppose everyone fighting it out for the play off spots will be cheering on the Stags this Saturday as I can see us taking points off Salford.

So Elliott Whitehouse has been ruled out for the season which is shit, and Nicky Cadden ruled out for a couple of games at least which is also shit. Squad looks very thin, very few central midfield options and 1 out and out striker in Josh Davison (who isn’t playing a lot). Looks like our fluid front 3 containing a CM (Adams) utility player (Wagstaff) and no.10 (Collins) will continue being our main frontline. Not sure they will score enough, but we did at least create more chances and look more energised on Tuesday.

Shawn McCoulsky is possibly going to be fit enough to train soon which is something although the issue there is that he isn’t actually very good, but still.

Does make me smile at this time of the year when players are 'ruled out for the season', when there's only two weeks to go.
