1-1 a fair reflection of our game with Reading, could've gone either way at the end, some dogged defending and goalkeeping from both sides. Being greedy I thought Dan Agyei should've won it for us when he capitalised on some poor defending by Readings right side and Button saved the 1v1.

If Reading keep their first team fit, they can stay up, they performed alot better today than they did in the first meeting last September between us, when 6 of the starters today didn't feature.

They do look ropey at the back and out of possession though, a few times I thought it was there for us to punish them on a number of occasions. Which probably explains their shoddy away form.

Massive result that, we were outstanding first half and could have been out of sight.
Still had some chances in the second but understandably Barnsley laid seige and we were hanging on at the end.
Only down side was the injury to Harper, who has only just come back from a lay off. Cluelessly booed by the Barnsley fans.
Yep that’s a top quality win to round off a great week. Aitchison is really looking a brilliant player of late and Reece Cole is a silky bugger. But what’s really impressive is our resilience defensively. Diabate has made a huge difference.

And, GC said in his post match that Harper is fine, thankfully.

Deserved three points today. Controlled the game from start to finish. Finishing again was the problem as it has been for the last month or so.

Penalty decision was 50/50 but when you spend so much time in and around the opposition box you do occasionally get a decision.

Can see the Vale fans on here once again blaming refs, as is their wont. The simple fact is that Vale couldn't muster a shot on target at home. That should really be the thing to focus on rather than making excuses for some violent twat trying to attack a ref.

Just watched the Vale - Pompey game and its a blatant foul by the Pompey player. How the referee hasn't blown up, I'll never know. Although, I do know. Big team bias and all that.

Totally agree, we were very poor today. Once again we watched a team knock it from side to side and also allowed Morell to Once again referee the game.

That doesn't hide from the fact that we would have got an undeserved point from the game but for a terrible decision from the referee. It wasn't 50/50, it simply wasn't a penalty.

No matter how bad a referee performance, that should never happen. Ever. Get a grip! Hope he's banned for a very long time.

Totally agree. You should never enter the field of play (except if you're Reading, then it's OK). However, you didn't see the performance of that referee today....he was utter dog dirt. Basically every time Pompey dropped to the floor, he gave a foul (and that was a lot). It frustrates me because they didn't need to do it.

We were poor today. I'm not denying we were but Pompey looked like another one of those sides that knock it about for knocking it abouts sake. I genuinely don't think they'd have scored if they'd played all night.

It’s a modern day foul that catching Chislett like that on the follow through, probably not given 15 years back, put it this way there is far more contact there than the tackle for the ‘penalty’. He booked Smith for a cleaner version of that tackle in the first half.

The penalty is a dive, he’d done it two or three times first half and did it again, the fact Grant reacted how he did at full time says it all on that. We seem to have this with Portsmouth a lot, 4 pens in 3 games and we know what they’ll do, get in the referee’s face etc go down, the 2-2 last season they were at it every set piece so we ought to have known what was coming and being more streetwise.

The fan was an idiot, not helped by the incensed crowd cheering which probably won’t help our cause with the EFL nor will the go fund me to pay the lads fine. Referee was dire yes, cost us a point yes but doing that won’t help anything, aside from Ben Speedie and the Accrington debacle that it the most incensed I’ve seen VP to a referee.

That doesn’t hide from a poor performance though where a better side certainly from a forward line perspective would have been us with ease, if that’s Barnsley, Posh or Bolton we lose that 5-0 and yet again we set up like San Marino at home to a side near the top not realising that they are in poor form and certainly not at the level of the top sides last year (although we had a real go at Ipswich down here!)

Far too much respect and playing for a 0-0 was ridiculous and Crosby is really boring the fan base with this whenever anyone of note plays down here. Where did the attacking play from Charlton, Wigan and Blackpool go? In losing Uche (again poor ref) from a hideous dislocation we didn’t have the target man to lump it so may as well have gone back to playing it on the deck but instead kept lumping it and getting it come back at us. That said as the game wore on Pompey seemed to run out of ideas and we didn’t really seem in much discomfort as the half wore on until that incident.

Injuries are killing us though, Weir is clearing more attacking and him and Gore were exposed in that holding role, desperately missing Ojo and Garrity there.

Ended up having to take Wilson off and replacing him with a 16 year old left wing back which is not ideal although he did well with Uche probably done for the season now we have a massive few days out. Flickers saying we are not even thinking about relegation the other night is a worry as we can’t sleep walk like we did last season and get away with it again.

Huge run of games, plenty winnable in coming weeks but today’s performance was the worst of the season at home and that leaves me more uneasy. Fleetwood next week is absolutely massive.

I'm getting pissed off with star fucker refs who are just excited about refereeing big clubs in their big grounds.

Firstly we have Bolton on Tuesday which led to the ref sending Clarke an apology and then today we have George Lloyd being volleyed in the gut and the ref giving absolutely nothing for it. Two mins after that, Derby get the softest of free-kicks and they score their equaliser.

For the second time in a week we have been absolutely brilliant against a promotion contender and come away with nothing, and a large part (though not all of it) was down to horrific refereeing!

More green shoots for us, and the draws against Derby and Posh have been more than deserved and had performances to go with it. On the face of it, we're still a little bit Kennedy like with low possession stats and well organised but actually over the last handful of games we're pressing better, better on the ball when we do have it and look more threatening as well.

Big month, February. A chance to start getting points on the board again.

We've had it regularly since we got back into league 1. It can't be a coincidence. It's like Manchester United of the 90s. If there's debate over a decision , the 'we used to be a big club don't you know ' get the decision by default.

Anyone seeing the ITV highlights show tonight will wonder how the ref has missed our penalty shout.

When the opposition manager says your team should have had a pen, then you know it's a bad decision.

Still, another apology letter will be just what we need to help us get out of the relegation zone!!

Having seen the replay, there wasn't really a foul on Chislett, but most refs would have given it. The penalty was quite clearly the ball won. It was one of many decisions the ref gave in favour of Portsmouth. Fuck me your players like the floor don't they?

Having said all that, we were pretty poor today and did that classic of watching a team knock it about. Thought Portsmouth looked OK up until they got to the box where I thought that dick Colby was shite. They would never have scored if they'd played all night, but for the penalty. We'd have got a point, in spite of being poor, but for the ref. I don't condone people going on the pitch but the ref brought it on himself. I hope he has a serious look in the mirror tonight.
I think you was at a different game than me. You are probably the worst side I've seen this season. How we never scored 4 or 5 I'll never know.
Thanks for the 6 points this season

I knew the little boy would come out eventually. I agree, we were very poor today, as bad as we've been all season really. But although you had a lot of the play, you never really looked like scoring until it was handed to you on a plate. I don't remember 4 or 5 really good chances for you...a few snapshots maybe. In fact, you'd run out of ideas. Bolton were far superior in the good half they against us, as were Barnsley.

You were there for the taking today as, apart from your wingbacks, I thought you were pretty ordinary. Unfortunately, we've lost our midfield through injury and recall and it showed. Gave far too much respect again to an average team and by the time we realise it and give it a go, it's too late.

I know you're a bit slow but I assume you have eyes. You clearly saw our player win the ball right? That's not a penalty, it's called a fair challenge. Is that simple enough for you?

haha you are so funny. It was a penalty and we scored from it.

Was that you running on the pitch? What a lemon. Enjoy your lifetime ban
No, I'm not stupid. You did....see you in 2 seasons when you're back here again after spending more than you can afford.
