One of those days though for best defenders, flint involved in yet another clean sheet and who’d thought he’d done well yet good old mickey again out did him with his last minute exploits!

Two terrible teams, neither of which seemed particularly up for the game. Surprised at Sutton's lack of desire to win, given their league position, as we were absolutely there for the taking. As it was, keeper makes a mistake at the end and they go home empty handed.
Not sure what you’re expecting from the bottom club in the division. We’ve gone away from home to a side that win a lot at home and had 18 shots and more possession, hardly sitting in and hoping for a 0-0 is it? Both teams came off the back of long away trips Tuesday lateish in the season, I’m sure it takes its toll.

You wasted time all game and were clearly playing for a point. Usually wouldn't question such a thing, but we were clearly there for the taking and you need all the points you can get.

Utter shambles at home again. Our performances at Gresty Road have been concerning all season. Even when looking comfortable in games we concede easy goals and self destruct. Ryan Dicker's subs today were absolutely suicidal. No midweek game and he took our 2 best players off just as Morecambe were injecting pace and fresh legs into the game. Bell must never be sent off again in future. Tracey had his best game for us in ages and nullified their threat. So Dickhead subs him off and surprise, Morecambe sensed an opportunity.

Davies a shambles for the first goal. Adebisi had his worst performance of the season and at fault for the second goal and Holicek, who was abysmal today considering he's been in excellent form, with a daft foul that led to the third after we failed to stop the cross going in, failed to clear it and Davies was once again AWOL.

Players were arrogant and thought game was won at 2-0. We did this vs Accrington too. We clearly underestimate the smaller clubs in this division and we got what we deserved yet again. No point being up for the big games away from home if you're blowing a 2-0 lead in a winnable fixture.

Credit to Morecambe. They didn't have to work hard for that win which sounds bonkers considering they were 2 down and we were inches away from 3-0 before they immediately scored. But we made it far too easy for them.

We go again next week. Need to kill sides off and need to perform better at home if we want Top 3. I don't fancy us in the playoffs at all.

According to your gaffer you deserved to win and were the better team by a country mile.
What a deluded plank.

Wasn't at game but checked the stats that showed both goalkeepers could have brought their deckchairs (after 1st goal and only shot on target)

Actually Cotterill has a small point when he said FGR were better team with 65% possession.

Looks a thriller but obviously all about the 3 points when it's a relegation 6 pointer and the trapdoor to non league is staring both in the face.

They did absolutely nothing with the ball though they created nothing all game which is why his ‘better team by a country mile and deserved to win’ line is absolute bollocks.
If ever we’ve been completely outplayed I’m an honest guy and will say so but yesterday was far from it.

It was a huge game, one FGR really couldn't afford to lose so once that happens he's bound to be very disappointed and say rubbish. We've all experienced past managers talk trash and painting a false picture after a loss. Nothing new..

Plus he must be massively disappointed that he failed to score a goal at BP. That takes some doing.

Looking much much better for Grimbo after this result and Sutton's defeat. Phew

This is the new Grimsby though - a retro-styled, Paul Hurst inspired approach, by Artell…

Because the referee didn't blow his whistle and point to the spot.
Ah, gotcha. So I guess the question is, WHY did the ref not think it was a foul?

No argument beaten by the better side and nothing lost as the bottom two didn’t make any ground

Because the Crewe player is running away from the action and goring the other player like a demented Spanish fighting bull.

You can see that he's got Demetriou in a headlock and is dragging him away from the action right?

Mansfield the better side. Look a solid unit particularly at the back. Good midfield too. Will be surprised if they don’t go up.
We huffed and puffed and gave it a go but with a midfield of Bennett, Morris and Wildig we aren’t energetic enough. Without the ball we just lump it to SPH and Evans - not a great tactic v Flint. How tall is that fucker? We improved with Charsley in the 2nd half but we need all our first teamers playing to have any chance of the play offs. Macca and Delaney out for the season makes it a tough run in. Anyway onto Stockport away as our tricky March continues.
Looks like we will be the current longest serving L2 club for 24/25.

It's funny, don't get me wrong, but fuck me it's just a poor standard of refereeing in football. Would it have changed the game? Maybe, maybe not, we were second best in general and deserved to lose - it's just a bit crap that we're all suffering from these kind of official performances.

The football at this level is generally poor, don't expect the officials to be better.

That's rich coming from a fan of a club that is more accustomed to non-league football.

You should be in awe watching L2 level considering where you came from.

Make that a long standing fan who's more accustomed to seeing Notts in the top 2 tiers than the 5th :2thumb:

I've seen us in all 5 tiers during my lifetime so not sure where we came from or what we are used to. A bit of everything but I know the 4th tier sadly very well buddy.

Did you manage to catch Carlisle United's peak in 1974/75? Or are you too young for that one season?

Never a penalty that at Crewe in a million years. What's the number 5 doing? Looks like he's in a Rugby scrum. Should have been a free kick to Morecambe. When he starts charging at the Morecambe defender, the defender is clearly not holding him he's got his arms out. Defensive free kick all day.

I'm still smiling. What a win. Absolute limbs when our goal went in. The ballboy who Ronan Curtis lifted up in celebration described it as the best day of his life. Gwon you Dons and fuck off franchise.

Think about us, we're paying the referees off and still get plenty going against us.

See Liverpool's goal at the weekend? Same thing happened to us against Bradford except Bradford took even less time after the wrongly awarded dropball to score.

Well we didn't turn up and still should have got something but for a dreadful miss from Wearne in a relatively open goal. The last minute loss is a kicker, but we were never winning that.

Fair play to AFC, for a game they self admittedly (until they get humiliated) don't care about they didn't half make a fuss of coming over and celebrating in front of us in the away end. Just goes to show that their entire mentality for years has been wrong and if they stopped acting like children and made an effort to treat it like an important football match, they have a chance.

It just means we need to get something on Tuesday now. March was always our toughest month and it's a pretty poor start.
