So that's how you got your big move to Manchester?

Ironically there’s one across the road too

I know you know a few of the stags fans would be wonderful to meet up for a beer when we play, you’re london way though aren’t you?

Yeah I'm up for a beer for sure mate. Would be good to get a few together. I am in London yeah but I'm gonna be at the match at Field Mill in December as long as I can get a ticket. Have met Stagat several times so have experience in meeting Mansfield fans off the internet.

Certainly are.
Last season I knew we'd be ok,but struggle for goals,
at the moment its a bit of an unknown.
Looking forward to going to Walsall,but one minute I think we'll surprise people & win,the next,we won't gel & get a tonking.
Not sure what to expect from either side being honest so i will go for a 1-1 draw

Like everyone else I have not a clue what to expect from ourselves this season with majority of what we brought in being completely unknown or unproven. Not seen a minute of pre season through work so don’t have a clue personally. From what I hear we look a lot more structured than we did under GL at the back end of the season, where a lot of the time we seemed to have no game plan at all.

Would definitely take a point to start the season off at this point but who knows.

If you can take anything out of pre season, I don,t know.
We,ve had what you would call 3 tough games (last 3).

1v div 1 side, 2 v Champ sides.
Scored 2 goals, Conceded 3 goals.

Lads from north of the border, More than capable footballers from what i,ve seen.
So we will see.
Anybodys guess.

We seem a lot more balanced, two proper wide players in Hastie and Ndjoli as opposed to just having Molyneux last season, we were so one dimensional under Lee, the tactic was literally give it to Mols because we had no one on the opposite side, Niang has to be play CM every week, it's good that he's versatile but his ability is wasted in defence, I like the look of Lacey and Murray at CB but worry about the lack of pace between them, hopefully Menayese has some about him.

Can see us being well organised and drilled but not showing much on the ball or going forwards as it is still mostly a new squad with the team gelling. I think that is a very solid 11 on paper though, EFL Experience and hard work all over the pitch.

If you didn’t have a good manager I’d be backing that starting 11 to struggle

I’m wary of Flynn being a good manager outside of Newport if I’m being honest aswell.

Most people I’ve spoke to seem impressed with Niang and thinking he is going to be a fan favourite, sounds exactly like what our midfield has missed for a long time

Agree about Naing.
If he's cente back Saturday & the midfield is Feath,Shelton Crawford,my heart will sink.
We'll the same problem as the back end of last season,
no ball winners,no pace,no forward thinking.

Pulled Walsall out of the shit last season though.
At one stage, after they were beaten at Scunny,it looked like another relegation.

I dunno about them getting relegated again, but yeah he did do fine thus far. Just always had a feeling he may ultimately struggle elsewhere, nothing more.

Those 3 Centre backs wouldn't inspire confidence.

Buzzing for the start of the season, always so good to have football back in your life.

Tricky game for us at home to Grimsby, I think at full strength we would have the edge, but with recent injuries, players returning from long lay offs and a couple of annoying suspensions we'll be running at about 70%.

Seems to be a feel good factor about Grimsby right now, and rightly so given their promotion.
JMD nailed on to score or get an assist against us, he has his flaws but I think he's one of the best crossers of the ball I've seen at this level.
I rated Khan as well, think he'll have a good game against us too.
We've got some real stand out individuals who can turn a game at a moments notice, Smyth, Archibald, Soutiriou, probably Moncur too though I've yet to see him play, but we're a couple of weeks off playing the system Wellens prefers I think.

1-1.

It's interesting to see comments from other County users on this board as to whom they would start.

For me, it's got to be:

GK Ben Hinchliffe
RWB Macauley Southam-Hales
RCB Joe Lewis
CB Fraser Horsfall
LCB Ryan Johnson
LWB Ryan Rydel
CM Callum Camps
CM Will Collar
ACM Antoni Sarcevic
STK Paddy Madden
STK Kyle Wootton

Suggestions of Croasdale over Camps and Quigley over Wootton can get in the bin. Camps and Wootton are just better players (in MY opinion)

Don't get me wrong though, I love Croasdale and Quigley, but they don't get in over Camps and Wootton.

I’m not suggesting Camps isn’t a better player than Croasdale - I’m saying that he isn’t a defensive midfielder and I’d like one in the midfield three otherwise it’s unbalanced.

How do you know Wootton and Camps are better than Quigley and Croasdale? I can understand Camps on paper but he's defintley a different type of player. How many times have you watched these players?

Time will tell.

If I was in charge of County, I'd be tempted to put Croasdale in instead of Sarcevic and push Camps forward.

Khan is injured. Not sure yet how serious but won’t be playing Saturday
