Obviously only those who have the immense style and grace to have been dumped out of the FA Cup will be playing in the league this weekend, but so be it.

We have the mighty Brewers away, so with two sides on mediocre to poor form (16th plays 17th in the form table), can't see this game being one for the purist.

But both teams will see it as a winnable tie - and with both clubs closer to the arse end of the table than they might like, it's exactly the sort of game to be targeted to push closer to safety.

Unfortunately from our perspective, this marks the first game of midfield hardnut Josh Scowen being suspended after a straight red on Saturday - and we generally look worse when he's not on the pitch to break up the opposition play.

20th v 21st in the form table at SJP - Can see it being absolutely dreadful for both sets of fans.
If we go 1-0 down, it's going to turn very toxic, very quickly.

Caldwell has said he's hopeful of 1 signing before Saturday, so we'll see who that is. (Probably Harris from Fulham)

City 0-2 Carlisle

This will be a war of attrition- both sides afraid to lose so the quality will be even worse than normal. Think conference north in the mud.
I’m going for a 1-1 draw.
Not going to this as Lichfield city are through to the next round of the fa vase and that is more appealing. Sorry…

One of two things will happen in our game. Either we win and Appleton goes within an hour of the final whistle or we do a Vale and lose in miserable fashion with “Andy Crosby your football is shit” ringing out for a huge portion of the game but he still remains. Don’t think we’ve doubled a single team since returning to L1 so my money is on the latter.

Depends largely on what team we can field, Boomer and Carol might be the midfield!

Wouldn’t fancy a 16 year old scholar against their winger who’s one of the best at this level… Blackett-Taylor is it? hopefully similar opponent to Blackpool in that they are poor away and we can get a similar outcome but at the moment it’s the toss of a coin as to which Vale your going to get.

Got me thinking on the double as I don’t think we have either…

I’ve just checked on that and our last double was in the 21/22 season at Hartlepool when DC first re-appeared. Since then not one and blew our most recent attempt at Carlisle so all signs point to Charlton in this really.

I miss Crawley… we used to always double them!

Game of the day at SJP. Get yourselves down there and wear your ear muffs if you don't like booing.

Must win. So we won't.

We are on a really bad run of form with things a bit toxic (again!) at the club at the moment. Think we will lose this one

Another big test for us. Cheltenham no longer the cannon fodder they were when we played them at the beginning of the season. We have struggled against really well organised defensive sides this season. Hopefully Monday will give us a boost. If we get a win regardless of the teams below us having games in hand it gives us a bit of breathing space. I'm hoping for a clean sweep in the FA cup with all the top 6 winning their FA cups, or getting replays.

A Carlisle United clean sheet? Away from home? We haven’t had one of those since April last year.

As for us actually winning? We’ve won one away game all season.

That home win on Monday over port vale doesn’t change the fact that we’re still the worst team in the league. We aren’t a threat at all from open play. Our only hope is we get gifted another penalty.

Comfortable home win for Exeter.

We're very up and down and virtually down to our second string team....absolutely ravaged by injuries.Great opportunity for you to get 3 points. Your forwards are very capable and we are so soft at the back that you'll almost certainly score. You looked poor at the back when we played you last but we haven't got the forwards to trouble you.

Doesn't seem to matter who we play or their predicament, we just don't win away. May was out injured the game just gone and not sure if he'll be back. Appleton plays him at RW anyway, where he's ineffective. We've currently got a player we had to recall from Southend starting up top. We're still always a threat but as you said shaky at the back so it's usually a case of who outscores who. We are much worse than we were for the reverse although sounds like a similar story for you.

I think it's 6 games in a row we've conceded after the 80th minute and we've also already done that against Vale this season, defence just shuts down

For some reason I'm really confident about Saturday. Something about playing in front of a big crowd against a big team at the top of the division tends to bring the best out of us.

As I said on another thread, I've predicted 3-1 to Cheltenham on our podcast. I'm going to stick with that, even if it does make me look a numpty come Saturday evening.

Its nice to see some positivity from someone here for once. Usually its full of pessimism or loaded with pre-empted excuses for an upcoming defeat

Down to our youth team in a few area's!

Disagree on the forwards though, we've actually been scoring lately... all be it one forward seems to make the difference in Mr Wilson!

If we lose Devine, Garrity and Debrah who went off v Carlisle or were limping through the last 10 minutes in Devine's case we are in trouble. No idea why we get hit so hard but that would be something like 12 players out, most of which or crucial to us like Ojo, Garrity (11 goal midfielder), Devine, Debrah who has been class after his shakey game at Rovers, Clarke and Sang... its nuts it was similar last season and no idea why we end up in this season year after year.

We could end up going from a midfield of Arblaster, Ojo, Devine, Garrity to having a youth player (Walters), an ageing centre half (Lowe) Wilson and Chislett

Still decent going forward but that holding pair will get over ran.

You may sneak a win, but only 1 side has scored over 2 goals against us in the league and that was Blackpool

And Blackpool scored the third and fourth goal when we had ten men and were chasing the game. We generally don't concede many and I'm hoping now the players can have some rest, they can build on that excellent win on NYD. We can't be dropping points having already donated two to the Cheltenham cause when they were terrible, but I'm expecting a tough game won by a single goal.

 It really is…and I’m saying that knowing that I’m just as bad for being a moaning bastard.

It *used* to be just the L2 forum where everyone was, “oh no, we’re shit, you’ll slaughter us”, but now the negativity seems to have festered upwards to these heady heights.

Despite a couple of new signings I still don’t see enough in the squad to see anything other than a repeat of what usually happens when we go away from home this season. A defeat.

We’ll probably gift the home team an opener, then we’ll get dominated and comfortably lose.

Its strange. One win and people suddenly forget that we’re the worst team in this league. Well I don’t forget I can assure you. We’ll need a lot more quality brought in for that to change.

Exeter City 3-1 Carlisle United

A result that I’d probably class as the first nail hammered into our relegation coffin.

If we score 3, you deserve to go down.

Well you’ve already stuck 2 past us this season at our place. We’re much worse now than we were then and we’re much worse away from home in general.

Everything points to a comfortable Exeter City win.

We have only score 6 goals in 12 home games. Thats the worst in the EFL.

We've signed Harris this week but still no striker. 0-0 is most likely.

If we manage to scrape a point it would more likely be 1-1 than 0-0.

We’ve kept 1 clean sheet in 25 games this season. None away from home since April. Keeping a clean sheet tomorrow would be a miracle.

Back after 2 weeks away, not surprised we binned Johnson and his batman. Charlie Adam interesting appointment and he has nothing to lose, hopefully he can get some passion and fight back into the team
The club have signed a guy called Ronan Coughlan from our sister club Waterford, prolific goal scorer over there. Bearing in mind we have the worst goal scoring record in league 1 he's not got a lot to beat !
Mighty Derby County at home tomorrow with the match on Sky News ( just hope we dont let ourselves down too much ). Straight forward win for the visitors and we continu

I’m positive that our 100% winning record this year will be intact by the end of Saturday’s matches.
