Other than the first 20 minutes we were fuckin rubbish today. Clearly saving ourselves for El Cuntico next week.

Great Barrow social club pint pre match.

I think some of the other City fans have been quite harsh on the team in their modesty, that wasn’t just a little bit better that was light years in front of anything from this season. We attacked, we pressed incredibly well from first to last, we controlled large parts of the game against a side who has had a brilliant start to the season with some top players. If that had been against Tranmere who we lost to on Tues I dare say the score line would’ve been much higher.
Performances like that justify the Hughes sacking, not once have we played like that under him not one single game, all he wanted was both centre halves to knock the ball between themselves and that that was it, the intensity of today was faultless.
Yes Swindon had their chances I expected nothing less but 19 efforts from us and a stonewall penalty not given (thought ref was very good other than that) in a game is unheard and you could’ve made a case for every single one of them to have won MOTM.

We looked like a different side to Tuesday. Pressing high, creating chances. Almost scored a lovely team breakaway goal but wasn’t to be. The game was still closer than the scoreline suggested, almost everything went in first half and our defence was still shaky for that 45. But 2nd half after riding out the first 5 mins we looked much better at the back and had it pretty comfortable - could have scored 2 or 3 more really. Hopefully a bit of a confidence injection might make us a bit more competitive going forwards.

Gutted not to have won that at the end when Whitfield missed an absolute sitter. Wasteful in front of goal again today, otherwise it was a strong performance.

The Entertainers™ good for the first half an hour but quickly became predictable and couldn’t really get going second half. They seemed weakened by their changes but Old Man Wild got his spot on.

That's sounding like an accurate review of today's proceedings.

It's a great sign that The Entertainers can only play well for a 1/3rd of the game , away from home, and still come away with a point.

Williams seemed narked , verging on moody and not pleased at all. Good.

When the league leaders are leading and you don't win you should be pissed off and upset.

McGee made an absolutely amazing point blank save at 2-1 which kept us in it. Tactically poor from us, with Dennis barely getting a sniff all game as he's incapable of jumping, and our second half game plan involved hoofing it up to him. Jolley offered nothing when he came on, Hawkes had a shocker and when Morris went off we lost all attacking threat from midfield. Grimsby looked very organised, albeit lacking a bit of spark. Great finish from Rose for the opener, although our defending was comical for both goals. Thought 2-2 was probably fair overall, though the fish brigade were the side pushing for the win towards the end, not us.
Think that is fair. Yarney really struggled in the last 20 mins or so and Tranmere grateful to hold on for a point at the end.

Nice having a manager whose reaction to a basically fine result away from home but when you played shit is to completely ignore the first bit and be like ‘that can’t happen again’, ain’t it?

A bit of a smash and grab but I'll take it. Good result.

Okonkwo is looking a top signing already.
We should've been clear by half time in my view. Thought we were gonna get Wrexham'd late on but held on well. Defence were immense.

Williams hasn't got to grips with Notts expectations. He's pissed off at not winning 2 or 3 to 0 by half time, I'm thinking an away point at unbeaten Barrow with Pete "hard to beat" Wild in charge is a good result first season back after a couple of tough fixtures.
Love Williams mentality, as a fan I'm needing to raise my sights beyond mid table survival and build from that.

Yeah but we only got the point cos Whitfield somehow managed to miss 8 yards of goal from 10ish yards out.

I think any self respecting manager would be pissed off with how that game panned out. And shit second halves are becoming a bit of a thing.

Watching the highlights my god the officials were even worst than i thought not only the farce of the 2nd Salford goal. But Powell hits a free kick that hits the post, comes back to Powell and he's flagged for offside.

He wasn't offside, he touched the ball twice from the free-kick before any other player touched it - if a free kick hits the woodwork, another player needs to touch it before the taker can touch it again.

Did you pop and see your buddy Spanishstag while you’re over there?

Nah he's run out of money so sadly couldn't meet up.

Where we go has to date avoided English and Scottish invasion and their need for a cheap full English to start the day and daily happy hours.

You won't be finding this special part of Spain on Channel 5 :cool1:

Yep, this is it unfortunately. It's a freak occurrence, probably never happened for a free kick before. But it was correct.

Strange game yesterday. I don't think we played badly at all, and had the goal that was wrongfully and shamefully disallowed stood, I think we go on to win that game as we were the better side up until that point. I'm not even going to blame the players because the flag was so late, they'd looked over a couple of times and it was still down so they naturally assumed it was a goal. I don't blame Salford for trying to take a quick free kick and gain an advantage either but our players don't have eyes in the back of their heads so the referee should've informed them it was disallowed. He effectively gave Salford a free goal as half our players were celebrating with fans in the corner. I'm not going to go into the allegations made about him by our fans post match, instead what I'll say is that our players should've been so incensed by that they should've been dying to right the wrong. Instead, they wilted and conceded two more soft goals. 4 goals absolutely flattered Salford but when you have an absolute sieve for a goalkeeper, these things can happen.

Need a keeper, a RB and a holding midfielder in January. A better keeper than Davies may well have had us top of the league. I hope we can send him back in January but Tom Booth isn't the answer at this current moment in time. Any fan saying bring back Dave Richards isn't serious either. He'd be just as bad as, if not worse, than Davies.

Still never seen us win at Tranmere (actually I could say that about quite a few grounds), but yesterday was very close. Loads of effort but again looking for a bit of luck and extra class. Thought the ref had a poor game, but he didn't change the result, just poor and easily conned by some, sadly not by Danny Rose who annoys me by throwing himself to the ground far too often.

Wrexham complaining about stonewall decisions is even funnier. I'd be more focused on my manager appealing stonewall red cards and basically donating money to the FA personally.

That’s a shocker - shades of Schumacher on Battiston.
Interesting. I hadn’t seen it clearly at the game and it looked like a coming together when both players going for the ball, as they were entitled to do, with McGee winning the header. However the way that he had his knee out when jumping for the ball, which made contact with Wilson effectively taking him out of the game, would have meant he’d be in difficulty had the officials seen it.

Disagree with the comparisons with the Schumacher-Battiston incident however. In that Battiston was in possession and Schumacher took him out, here McGee was making a legitimate effort to win the ball, but endangered an opponent due to the way he jumped.
And Tranmere scored while we were down to 10 men while Wilson was being given smelling salts
That’s not right, incident happened around the 30 minute mark score at 1-1.
