Walsall - score for fun, play free flowing football, get aggressive in order to dictate play.

Team sets up to stifle that - SHOCKED FACE.

We went for a point, and we got it. Good job. It's a better point for us than it is for Walsall, and it was a good day out with a tasty game. Can't argue with that. Also, the ref was shite for both teams, and nothing the ref did benefitted either team. He was just shit.

PS: The Locker is fantastic. Great setup that Walsall have for fans before the game. Really good day out.
The locker is great for home and away fans mate made a huge difference having it.

I'd love Artell to take Grimsby into the play-offs and take them up.

a) Because I like Grimsby fans, they're a great bunch

and

b) because it would be good fun. Having seen the modern English football tier 3 close at hand, I know what a high brow, classy league it is. Having Grimsby there would like taking a dog to watch the opera.
I'm dubious about this high class League 1 claim when the division houses Birmingham, Bolton and Mansfield fans. We're definitely dogs and not opera goers though, that's not something many Town fans would argue with.

God knows what I'm on about mate. Just arsing about as usual.

John McAtee played against us for Bolton yesterday, usually has a good game against us but was very quiet.

Having seen the highlights back that penalty decision is a shocker, the keeper takes him out with both hands and if he doesn’t Ronan has an empty net. Terrible.

That said Stockley missed a chance that was easier to score than miss and you’d put your house on him scoring so he does that we probably park the bus see out a 1-0 and we would be talking about a great away masterclass again so it’s fine margins. We’ve been on the right side a few times and this time we fell the wrong side.

We do seem to be great playing the footballing sides but struggle more against the direct, physical or dark art masters and it’s something we do need to crack as the season gets on, especially now teams will respect us more with our league position etc.

It may be time to bring Smith back into the fold as a pure defender and battler for those kind of games where we need someone who can give it back, throw in his dark art mastery.
Somebody posted on onevalefan earlier that in the sun newspaper it said something about Gillingham have gone 60 games without conceding a penalty. Don't know if that's true or if it's league games or all competitions but that's good going. They obviously haven't played Portsmouth recently as they get about 15 penalties a season.

That’s seems a bit harsh on J McA - with car crashes going on behind him…

If we can keep within touching distance of the playoffs until Davies, Thompson and Vernam all return then we could well sneak in. If we can have as good a window as we did last January as well then that speculative hope has a bit more substance. Similarly though, I could also see us easily slipping into lower midtable obscurity.

New-Notts in a nutshell that. Some lovely interchanging play and then just whack it into the box for the big man. It's Spain 2004 meets Wimbledon 1988.

The problem is everyone else going around thinking they're better than they are when in reality it's a fairly standard but tight division. We seem to know what we are and where we're at whereas plenty of others don't. Winning more games than pretty much everyone else also helps too. The fact that with even a tiny bit more home form we'd be right up in the top spots having had an injury crisis and played all but two of the top 14 shows you what a bang average set of sides it is this season.

Would be good to see a better angle, didn't look like a foul at all on Wright from where I was though.

If we're going down that route then both of your bookings where from incredibly cynical chop downs in your own half when we were overloading and very likely to be in on goal.
I’ve only seen you in the game against us and the first half against Donny so you’ll forgive me if I’m a tad sceptical about your league position. I’m sure you’re much better than you showed in those two.

Not sure about the quality of this year’s league. Our game yesterday would have graced any league 2, two footballing sides going at it with fantastic tempo and quality. I do think people overstate the relevance of the league table at this stage. It’s only after Christmas that it really sorts itself and the actual contenders get themselves near the top and maybe start to pull away.

Funnily enough, Colby Bishop came off the bench for the first time this season after injury on Saturday, and scored a penalty within 11 minutes of being on the pitch.

If they get away with decisions like Saturday I am not surprised, what is missed is there is actually 2 stone wall penalties within seconds of each other there with the shove on Stockley from the initial ball in!

Even the Gills fans are convinced we should of had it, so then you know its stone wall but then v Tranmere we should of had a Sang sent off for a last man tackle and got away with it so swings and roundabouts I suppose!

My 1st visit to Salford, dour game but 3 points is all that matters.
Got to say, Salford is a poor away day. Lack of pubs nearby, poor view if away end full, toilets are embarrassing, poor home support!!
We're closing the gap on teams above us, last two games have really boosted us.

Standard, think they had three or four pens against us in the 4 meetings didn't they?

Look like they might come straight back down mind which I am sure PompeyBlueBoy will be enjoying!

Yeah. Two in one game. Aiden Stone saved one and they scored the rest.

Yeah, seems like he's had a stuttering start at Bolton. Not sure if they're playing a system that doesn't suit him or what. I'd love to see him at the tip of a diamond behind a front two.

Yeah our match at your place and the first half against Donny definitely aren't really accurate reflections of how we've been all season. They are good evidence of how when we're bad we mostly very very bad though. Agree that it's too for the table to hold any real relevance. What I am confident of though is that we are better than last season and not gonna be in a relegation battle.

Were you standing near enough directly behind the goal?

I kept hearing someone use the word claptrap. It’s not a term I often hear so it stuck in my mind.

No was in the seats.

I think it’s just some very
Broad Cumbrian that not many people use.

It’s like people at my work in Manchester don’t get used to me always saying ‘gan’ instead of going and ‘Tara’ instead of bye.

Always interesting you say it without thinking said I’d never pick up manc but now always say ‘y alrite’ all the bloody time

You love Mansfield fans SoC, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.
