match discussion here (It's late i just wanted to name the thread)

but yeah, on paper another winnable game, even if we didn't exactly make light work of winning our previous winnable games.

I'd like to think we're capable of getting a point here, the big pitch suits our game, we are due a more clinical performance...... 3-1 Carlisle.

These thread titles are getting worse...:err:

Looking forward to this game, should be a half decent crowd again. Crawley have made a good start to the season and shouldn't be underestimated, but I think we're capable of winning.

Big injury list dahn sarf. Much as I love him when Bobson Bawling starts you know you are down to the bare bones. Boldewijn seems to be playing with an injury. Banton has a virus. Harrold and Payne wearing blue boots and Roberts may be a myth we've seen so little of him. Add to that Yorwerth has been loaned out to Merthyr because of family issues (he is Welsh) and some if our other Chelsea reje... er youngsters never get near the team means we cannot name a full subs bench. A lot will depend on Mark Connolly being fit. He is one of those defenders who hates losing and will throw his body into blocks and goal line clearances. He was subbed on Saturday due to a groin problem. He would be a big miss.

When the going gets tough the tough get going. 3-0 to Carlisle.

Dunno how this is going to go. 4 wins in a row but felt we weren't great at Stevenage last week.

This will be a tougher test. I think we have enough to win the game, but Grainger missing is a blow because he provided a lot of goals and assists recently.

Looking forward to my 2nd visit.
Not sure what team we'll put out as no recent update on those players coming back from injury.
If a similar team to last week then a narrow loss. If we could get Payne and Roberts back playing then maybe a draw or narrow win.
If we can keep him fit, Kaby Djalo is our best player of recent games. A L2 Kante as some of our fans call him.
We won't play boring defensive football though.

We'll certainly need to adapt the way we play going forward rather than defensively, even though it's a defender we're missing.

Whoever we put at left-back won't be providing as much support going forward as Grainger does. Could we maybe put Kennedy onto the right and Adams on the left. Dropping Kennedy with his goalscoring form at the moment would be unthinkable, but I don't think it really matters where you play him in midfield in terms of how much of a threat he poses as his goals are largely the result of him rushing into the area at the back of the attack and picking up rebounds, loose balls etc, and he's not really a wide player anyway so maybe it doesn't matter which side he starts the game. Adams has maybe had a couple of off-games by his high standards and a different position where we need some creative football could change things. Or we could go back to the drawing board and think up a new side, as there are people like Reggie Lambe, Jamie Devitt, Joe McKee who would love some game time, doesn't look like McQueen will be signed (if he signs) in time though.

The former Chelsea trialist we're still looking at, Kevin Wright, is a left-back by the way, but again nothing is likely to happen in time.

Don't worry, if you play him on the right, an afternoon against Blackman will revitalise him. Also, Nicky is a nice bloke.

Oh aye forgot he was a former player of yours
He was our best player for quite some time back in our league 1 days, a moment that stands out is when he scored against Reading in the FA Cup after about 15-20 seconds with a cracking long range effort. Fantastic player.

Tajbakhsh makes his football league debut.

McNerney dropped (prob injury).

0-1 down long throw keeper misses and Ibhero scores.

Davey plays in defence and we leak goals.

All we can do now is win the second half.

It's all clicking, we' re cruising. This could end up any score.

Crawley are actually a threat, but we've been absolutely cold in our ruthless finishing.

not any score. For example, 1-0 to Crawley, won't be that. Nor will it be Carlisle 2 Crawley 0
Technically it could, if the game got abandoned and had to be replayed from minute zero.

The only good news from this is we have now played Pompey, Carlisle and Doncastor away from home.

All three should be right up there at the end of the season.

Fantastic. Clinical finishing in the first half, and a superb strike from Joyce killed the game off. I thought Crawley played some very nice stuff but we took our chances.

Jabo had another great game up top, Joyce and particularly Jones were excellent, Ellis played well in unnatural positions and everybody played their part.

Crawley did seem to crumble in the second half and I feel had we wanted, we could have run up a cricket score, but created some good chances in the first. Even then, they never really tested Gillespie.

Second half was a non event. I think the message at half time was the game is won, just see it out without over exerting yourselves or picking up any stupid bookings.

Tom miller's injury cud be a concern, but if McQueen signs we'll be OK.

The referee was shite I thought

With the proviso that the guy who puts these together knows fine well they don't tell the entire story, it's interesting to see how this panned out and how the e361 view of the match differed from those who were actually there. I felt I was pretty much on the money in saying that Crawley threatened first half and were just undone by our clinical finishing, but collapsed in the second half. The e361 summary was of a dominant second half performance from Crawley. They did waste a few chances while we sat back, but I can't remember them having any particularly great opportunities. Expected goals are based on position and type of shot only, so it could be that some of their wild and wayward shots from just inside the box counted for more expected goals than appeared on the day.

The stand out chance I remember was when they worked it from left to right via Collins who then slipped it in to their number 7... 1v1, 8 yards out.... completely miskicked it to go embarrassingly wide.

I'm thinking of compiling a YouTube clip of Jason Kennedy's greatest goals. Who could forget that time he picked up a loose ball in the box and bundled it in from close range? what about the time he pounced on that rebound to bundle it in from close range or the time he was first the goalkeeper's parry and bundled it in from close range?

I wonder if you added together the distances of all the Carlisle goals they'd ever scored, who would be higher? Jason Kennedy or Luke Joyce?

well there was that overhead kick I guess
