Still waiting for this Scunthorpe goal that has been coming all game. We're not as bad since the goal though, bit of pressure off, which is the situation we're used to being on the other side of

Where was this Scunthorpe goal then eh? They never looked like scoring and niether did we, but we did get one so there you go. Lol

What a shit match by the sounds of it, six of our players booked too, this is league two.

This is so similar to last week. We have dominated that first half, don't think Carlisle have had a shot. Yet we have wasted chance after chance. Can't wait for a lapse in concentration to let Carlisle score from their first shot.
So predictable.

I just cannot comprehend how we lost that game. Carlisle were one of the worst sides I've ever seen and we lost. As predicted we let them score with their first shot. 14 shots to 3, 14 corners to 1. Yet we lost.

We are absolutely doomed. If we can't win this game then we never will win one this season.

You truly are doomed mate because we are usually the team who are always the first to get beat off of the winless bottom of the league team.

So an even more worrying sign for you.

Any tips for non league? You spent enough time there should be able to help us out
Yeah my biggest tip is try not to get down seeing away ends with hardly any fans in them, although as you follow Scunny that should be pretty normal to you anyway. :2thumb:

Oh and p.s: mind the gap.

Those huge away followings must have benefited Grimsby so much. I wonder why their biggest achievement for 15 years is being above us with all those huge followings

One of our biggest achievements did a massive favour for Scunthorpe - getting Brian Laws sacked.

BTW Chris Balderstone was a proper footballer and cricketer. Ian Botham was not up to scratch as a professional footballer - nowhere near - it was just a gimmick. Made up for it with the cherry and willow...

Sounds like we played absolutely shite and won. Makes a change because recently we’ve been playing well and not winning.

Big result for pressley. Thered have been calls to sack him had we lost today. Also Ends the dismal away run.

Just a little watch of the highlights

https://www.skysports.com/watch/vid...s/league-two/11799173/scunthorpe-0-1-carlisle

First off, the positioning of the camera at Glanford Park is terrible. Can't see the near touchline.

Secondly, it looks every bit as one sided as it sounded. No idea how we won that. Was a bit of a fuck-up in defence for our goal, though was well taken advantage of by McKirdy and Loft.

Thirdly, could even have gone two-nil up. Splitting hairs but McKirdy's pass to Sagaf later on could just have put Sagaf clean though had there been a bit more pace on it, and even so it was a shooting chance Sagaf could have taken.

Fourthy, but for Adam Collin, Scunthorpe would have scored, though they were still all saves you'd probably expect him to make.

Fifthly:

Well we failed to win a game we absolutely bossed last weekend so maybe due a fortunate win that we didn’t really deserve.

Pleased to hear that pressley saw the performance for what it was. Utter shit.

It’s a results business though and like I say we’ve played much better and not won. Hopefully performance levels will go up for next week as we’ll need to be faultless against Exeter.

Sounded like we improved in the second half at least. For the first time this season we scored the opening goal in a match and didn't concede an equaliser shortly after and while it continued to be tense defending a one-goal lead, as the game went on it sounded less likely the Scunthorpe were going to equalise.

Hopefully we do improve as the season goes on and put these kinds of performances and the one at Cheltenham behind us. While it's easy to look at our away performances last season and see that as the only reason we're continuing to be bad this season only Bolton in the whole EFL have changed more of their squad. Thanks to Hope's sending off and injury in the friendlies, none of our forwards have had a preseason, while I imagine we might be the only team in the division fielding a back five who had never played together until a month ago (six if you include Mellish who has featured plenty).

Webster and NKP have both looked error-prone but they've also both looked like competent centre-backs the rest of the time and the communication at the back hasn't been great so far with some of the errors being courtesy of a lack of a shout. I'd expect things to get better rather than stay the same.

Don't think we'll beat Exeter like but hopefully an improved performance.
