A bit of an anti-climax? What, Gestede scoring a second half winner in-front of a reverberating Villa Park under the floodlights? Certainly wasn't an anti-climax from my position in the Lower Holte..

In fairness to Small Heath, they could have sold 50,000 like they took to Bruges if the ticket criteria was set correctly / if they weren't all protesting against their owners / the JLR plant hadn't closed down in 1987. A city of one million people who all support Birmingham City, yet can't sell 23,000 tickets for their cup final. Hilarious.
got out played first half and then managed to scrape through in the second. 8k empty seats was a bit disappointed but we won and that's all that matters. I was right next to the bastards in R2 north stand lower. After the game our normal route got blocked off and had to walk to Perry Barr to catch train back home to staffs. Nah 50k will be waiting outside for the 2k bastards in claret and blue. SOTC.

Not a lot happening so far...Birmingham with one close chance but ball wasn't fully over the line. 0-0 at the moment.

Isn't this derby meant to be fierce?

Atmosphere is dead, not even the Villa goal has livened it up.

Reduced allocation and a 12:00 kick off isn't conducive to a good atmosphere. Not defending it, but that is a reason.

Good finish that, Cotterill likely to cause problems till the end now. 1-1 about right so far.

Villa would be pretty lucky to escape with a point here, criminal if they snatch a winner.

No surprise to see Wiggins injured again, spent most of his career in the treatment room.

Shame, is a good player.

Fair result in the end, we edged the first half, Birmingham bossed the second. I can't complain with a point. :dk:

Watched this on the train earlier and despite it not being full of quality, the game was very competitive and very watchable. Brum the busier but a point was fair.

I enjoyed Ryan Shotton doing his best to pick out planes on their approach to Birmingham International Airport. Tasty clearances.

Typical blues villa Derby. Scrappy play, lots of fouls and a tight game. It's either one or the other in these games, meaning it's either very eventful or very tight, no In between. Overall a fair result but what pissed me off is that we never looked like scoring again and every throw or corner we had it ended up straight to their players. They seemed up for it and battled well, and we did OK to match them. I think we will finish above them and maybe will mount a serious push for play offs. Disappointed we gave away the lead, but overall a point is a decent point at a difficult ground to play at.

WMP are to blame. Reduced allocation for both clubs and an early KO on a Sunday never helps. Look at our midweek games over the years to see what this game is about. It's no big a deal as any other Derby depending on what team you support, but this is more prone to disorder than a lot of them.

We still have no midfield, come January when we can hopefully sign a decent midfielder or two who don't all do the same job (albeit some don't do it as well), we should be alright. Still don't think we'll clinch promotion this season, if we get play-offs I see us bottling it, and we lost autos with the first 10 games of the season.

when I saw that midfield today I thought that's shite, but I believe we have the right manager to mount a play off push. Personally I don't think we will go up this season because as you pointed out we have no bollocks. I'm hoping that changes, but it's a massive task.

I personally never expected promotion this season, always expected us to consolidate this season, and after last season, that is an improvement in and of itself. Last season's team wouldn't have survived in this division either, it was always more realistic to go for promotion next season. The squad has already been overhauled and is just clicking together, it's still not good enough to go up, small additions in January and next summer are the key to get promotion next year.

Yeah I agree. It's not the end of the world if we fail this season, which we probably will. My worry is if we don't go up next season.

I agree. This season was always about consolidation following years of dross. Not sure we'd be 'ready' if we were to sneak through the play-offs this season. Plus I've a number of grounds I'll need to tick off next season..

Content with a point today. And the swathes of empty seats behind the goal in the upper GM and behind the dug outs. So difficult to get a ticket, obvs. I look forward to welcoming Small Heath's thirty coaches to Villa Park in April.

you there today mate? Thought we were a bit quiet, but i maybe wrong. What cracked me was everytime we had a throw in, you could see all their lot getting all excited and throwing abuse. Bet they only go once a season and that's when they play us. I was in Coventry watching the game and some bloke came up to me out of nowhere and said, look im a city fan(Coventry)and I hate villa but I hope you beat them. I asked why, and he explained how he always rooted for blues in these games but after working with a few of them over the years he can't stand how bitter they are over villa. If they lost a game they wouldn't give a fuck and just say well villa lost too so fuck it. Also he pointed out how much they hate us more than they love themselves. In the end it done his head in how vile they were and said atleast villa fans have a bit more pride in themselves. I think that's the difference between the two sets of fans, they hate us more than we will ever hate them. I can see how that is true as they have always been the poor relation, hence the bitterness.

I’m not sure why you are so fascinated with coaches but I thought you might appreciate this. There was at least 12 there as you can see, x that by 50 on each and that is around one-third of your following today. The car park in the Gil Merrick was rammed in that QF in 2010 for the simple fact that you had a bigger allocation.

A real shame, I thought he played really well. Looked a better player than our regular left-back.

Anyway, hope you had a nice and pleasant journey back to London Victoria. Did you go on the Megabus? National Express, maybe?
you still on about coaches.

Yeah, get all that. First part of my post was tounge in cheek really, have seen plenty of fiery Brum/Villa games in the past. Today was disappointing as a neutral though.

Was injured a few times with us.

Poor bloke, it's not just re-occurring injuries with him either, has had problems with his ankles, knees, metatarsal and caused by innocuous challenges like today. Agree though, decent player when fit.
