Well we exceeded my expectations in August which I thought would be s tough month for us. As for September it's all about keeping our feet on the ground.

Burton (H) tinpot trophy match: couldn't care less what happens here, I'm expecting us to make changes. Out record in it since winning it has been poor, long may that continue. Crewe 1-2 Burton

Grimsby (A) Two teams you might consider suprise packages so far. Grimsby scoring lots of goals and Hanson is looking a handful up top. I'm expecting goals and were due a draw (not had one since March) Grimsby 2-2 Crewe

Cambridge (H) Cambridge look better than last season, but I'm not expecting them to challenge the top. Mid table side, with our home form I expect we might be abit much for them Crewe 2-0 Cambridge

Leyton Orient (A) another club that look likely to settle into being a midtable sort of team. I think this will be a tight one though. I will go for a hard earned draw Orient 1-1 Crewe

Salford (H) not sure what to make of this lot. Got a few stand out players and a few with little/no FL experience. Hoping there still not used to the football league. Home win. Crewe 2-1 Salford

Cheltenham (A) they have a superb home record of late, very similar to ours. We seemed to have improved on the road, but can't see us going a month unbeaten in the league, so il predict a narrow loss, but I wouldn't be surprised if we got something. Cheltenham 2-1 Crewe

8 points would be reasonable, but I've tried to edge on the side of caution so it wouldn't suprise me if we get double figures again, from what looks on paper a decent month for us.

We did better in August that I thought we would, was a tough start to the season with playing fancied sides, Mansfield, Swindon and Salford as well as surprise-package Cheltenham and we picked up 7 points where I thought we would only pick up 5.

We need to improve in September or we'll be dragged into trouble. There are currently teams below us who I don't expect to stay below us and our performances have worse than our results. In particular we need to tighten up at the back.

Somehow though our September fixtures don't look much easier, there's another three fancied sides in there so maybe there were just too many teams fancied to do well and when you add in the teams who've actually started well then it seems like more than half the teams in the division I'm classifying as 'promotion challengers who we'll struggle against'.

Exeter (H) - Lose 2-0
It'll be amazing if we get anything out of this. They're very good defensively and while they don't score loads of goals they score enough and against our defence I can't see them scoring fewer than 2.

Stevenage (A) - Draw 1-1
Stevenage have struggled at the start of the season and only scored their first goals this weekend. They do have a good record against us though, and with our current form I can see us having another stinker. I'll have their form balance that out though and go for a draw

FGR (H) - Win 2-1
They've started better than performances would suggest, as it seems they're nicking results in scrappy games. If they can beat Bradford then they can definitely beat us but their luck may be running out. I'll tentatively put this down as a game where things start to turn for us.

Bradford (A) - Lose 2-0
Bradford haven't settled into life in League Two yet it seems but this match will see Devitt line up against us. They have obvious quality and I can't see us presenting too much of an obstacle to them.

Oldham (H) - Win 2-0
Oldham only managed to score three goals in January, and this is our one game in September I see as where we really do need to put them to the sword. Hopefully their poor attack, like Scunthorpe's will struggle to take advantage of our defence (and hopefully our defence has improved by then).

This would see us pick up 7 points in September, same as August. 14 in total after 11 games, which last season would have us in 16th place. It's only two points less than we had at the same stage last season and would probably set us up for an unremarkable mid-table season.

3 home and 2 away for us this month. Hopefully we can kick on after our decent start and cement our place in the top 4 or 5.

Orient (a). Orient are no mugs and I fancy us to take a point in a 1-1 draw
Macclesfield (h). Macclesfied defying pre-season expectations but I think we should be too strong 2-0
Colchester (h). They beat us 3-0 in the league cup but we played quite well until we fell apart. I think we'll make it 3 home wins in a row. 2-1
Cambridge (a). Over-confidence will see us slip to a 0-2 away defeat. The Fridge was a legend at Swindon and I think he'll mastermind a win for them as Cambridge gaffer
Newport (h). Newport will nick a late point in a clash between 2 sides who will be up towards the top of the table this season. 1-1

Newport A - Tough game, probably the type of game we’d draw though... in fact both visits to Rodney Parade we’ve drawn.

Plymouth H - Mega tough, read they struggle against teams that high press them which we tend to do very well. Would take a point.

Exeter A - mixed recent fortunes at St James, don’t seem to score many but grind out results, probably lose this.

Mansfield H - memorable win against them last season to kick start our survival, they seem to be struggling under inexperienced management... probably our most winnable tie in the first four games which isn’t a dig at Mansfield but how tough our first four are!

Leyton Orient A - they seem to be a side that will rattle around the lower third of the table so far which would be a decent achievement under the circumstances, need to be looking to win here but a ground that’s given us nothing in recent visits.

Couldn’t get a rougher month on paper but if we can get out of it with six points it would set us up for a much kinder run until Christmas and maybe keep the decent form going.

A result at Newport would set us up nicely.

Orient (A) - Should be an entertaining game. Think both teams can be got at judging by their fans comments. Hopeful we will have a bit more firepower and be able to nick the points. 2-3 WIN

Macclesfield (H) - May be similar to the Morecambe game where we control the game but look iffy in patches. 3-1 WIN

Colchester (H) - Tuesday night home game? 1-2 LOSS

Cambridge (A) - Control most of the play but silly errors cost us the win. 2-2 DRAW

Newport (H) - Very tough game. They could be up there again. Late winner in a scrappy match. Wouldn't be shocked to see a draw or narrow defeat but think we'll edge it. 2-1 WIN

A bold looking 10 points out of 15.

I'd like 4 points from the 2 home games, would be annoyed if we lost either. 3 tricky away games, with Grimsby improved, Orient on a Tuesday always tough and Cheltenham good at home. 4 points from those 3 would be nice as well.

As you say, 8 points would be a reasonable haul, probably need 10 to stay in the top 3.

Everything about us screams “inconsistency”. We’ve got a good nucleus of talented players, but they’re mostly quite young and inexperienced at league level. Be more than happy if we could keep up our win one-lose one-draw one pattern for the rest of the season. Still, this month looks like a bit of a bastard.

Swindon (H) - I understand that they have quick wide players and clinical forwards. Should have us on toast. 1-3

Exeter (A) - We love losing at SJP. We particularly love losing by a certain score line. 0-4

Crewe (H) - We generally have an excellent record against Crewe, as their tippy-tappy shite tends to play into the hands of traditional Orient sides with our high press and direct counter-attacks. Unfortunately, no-one in this particular Orient vintage can tackle. 1-2

Colchester (A) - Always a non-pleasure to visit the second-worst ground in the 91 (hello Glandford Park!). Still, they somehow manage to surpass the awfulness of their ground by having the absolute worst support in the league. The game is bound to be dreadful as well. 0-1

Port Vale (H) - I actually forgot Port Vale existed. The game will probably be a forgettable affair as well. 0-0

Southampton U21 (H) - Don't care, probably lose they have a good youth set up I think. 1-2 loss

Cambridge (A) - They've improved by the looks of it and have made some decent signings. If they are physical and get in our faces we could struggle with Matt Mills out. Take a point. 1-1

Colchester (H) - Exactly the sort of side we struggle against if they're anything like last season. We struggle to break teams down at home and are liable to concede soft goals against physical, well organised sides. 0-1 loss

Carlisle (A) - Will be a playing out from the back, tiki taka classic. Lots of pretty passing and very few shots. Proper sophisticated stuff, but we're slightly better at it I reckon. 0-1 win

Stevenage (H) - They've got a lot of injuries but some should be back by then you'd think. Guthrie will probably score but on paper should edge this. 2-1 win

Salford (A) - Seem to be doing ok, even though not made the signings I thought they would. Reckon we can nick a draw here. 0-0

8 points from 5 games should keep us in range of the top 7 as our squad starts to gel and improve.

1.Forest Green H - A draw or a 2-1 Win. I'm going with the latter.

2.Crewe A - Tough game this one. Can only see a 1-3 Defeat.

3.Mansfield A - Think we can hold them to a draw this time. I'm going for a 1-1 Draw

4.Swindon H - Hmm, another toughie. Could snatch a draw I guess but I fear they'll beat us. 1-2 Defeat

5.Stevenage A - We should be able to win here, though it will most likely only be by the one goal. A hard fought 1-0 Win

7/15 would be a decent return I suppose.

Well, a mixed August. Two away defeats were disappointing but Newport are excellent at home and Northampton completely stopped our game plan.

Oldham (H) - Got to be 3 points. They’ve not had a good start, and we’ve controlled every game at home so far. I’ll go for another 3-0 win.

Port Vale (A) - Would take a point here. Not sure how Port Vale set up, but we need to start getting points on the road. 1-1.

Crawley (A) - Think we’ll win this one. 1-3. Crawley seem to like to attack whilst not being the best in defence. Can see that working in our favour.

Cheltenham (H) - Another 3 points at Home Park here hopefully. I’ll go 2-0.

Mansfield (A) - Tough game. Mansfield are a side who I think will be up there come May, definitely play offs. I’ll go 1-1 or a 2-1 loss.

So hopefully 10 points from 15. In what is on paper, quite a favourable month.

Based on paper we should lose every game this month but probably wont.
Newport 2 vale 1
Vale 1 plymouth 0
Exeter 2 vale 0
Vale 1 mansfield 2
Leyton orient 1 vale 1
Got a feeling were going be a poor away side this season.

Newport (a) 1-1 Newport looking strong early on, so certainly one of the tougher matches, but we've shown enough so far to make me think that we might pick up a point here.

Plymouth (h) 2-0 Plymouth lost badly at Northampton last week, and our pressing game and speed on the break may be too much for them hopefully.

Exeter (a) 1-0 not a happy hunting ground for us recently, and I don't think it will be any different this time.

Mansfield (h) 1-0 Mansfield don't seem to have clicked yet despite some good signings, but im sure they will be top seven come May.

Orient (a) 0-1 Orient are doing ok so far, but I think we will pick up our first 3 away points here.

10 points is probably a bit ambitious, but there is no reason we can't do it.

Slightly late to the party here but would've predicted a win against Stevenage purely due to it having been a home game, and against a team who've made a slow start. As for the remainder...

Salford (A) - Would usually say 0-1 defeat or perhaps a 0-0 draw for this given our away record but, because it's Salford, I'm backing us to score our first away goals of the season and win it 2-1.

Bradford (H) - Tough game on paper but Bradford don't seem to have fully hit their stride yet and always fancy us at home. 1-0 win.

Plymouth (A) - Home banker. We don't win these sorts of games. 3-0 defeat.

Crewe (H) - They've made an excellent start and will pose the biggest threat yet to our unbeaten home run. 2-2 draw.

10 points would be an excellent return for the month but the remaining fixtures do look very tough and it could easily go the other way.

I can't argue with this - I may suggest us beating Crewe though and possibly losing the Salford game - if only because that's how it appears to be these days. But that's just looking to be a bit different.

We are looking gooooooood going forward, defence can be shaky, but we have people that will put their necks on the line, like Shaun Taylor did in the past.
With yet another thousand plus fans following the town away again, I can see us winning 3-1

I predicted 3 of mine correct aswell 2 of which are the correct scores. Hopefully I will be wrong with the Mansfield score but with 6 players out it will be difficult to win no matter how bad Mansfield are at the minute.
