Didn't Oldham turn a profit of 400k last year though? There's no reason they should be in any difficulty they clearly spend within their means and then some.

We didn't pay players in December so took out a finance loan. We then put on a season ticket offer with 50 quid off your season ticket for every game we won in April to pay the loan back. We won 3 and it cost the club 150 grand roughly. Rumour has it this has left a 150 grand shortfall in next year's playing budget which has been covered by the compo for Sheridan.

We operate hand to mouth, robbing Peter to pay Paul. It's very short term thinking. We currently have 2 first team players contracted for next season with no out of contract players likely to remain. In 3 words...

We are fucked

Was an amazing deal for the fans at the time. But the disks who run the club simply saw all this money coming into the club with no way planned to pay it back without seriously damaging the club. In hindsight it's been disastrous but you can't blame the fans for taking it up. We were under the assumption it was covered.

Tbh I'd have happily paid 150 quid more ( I pay that price any other year) if it meant keeping Sheridan and having a real go next year. Now we are certs for relegation as it currently stands

I see Antony White of Oldham's coaching staff has left to take up a position down here. I imagine we paid some compo for that, and it frees up a slot on the staff for whoever a new manager wants to bring with him.

Our club is probably the worst run in the football league. These last 18 months have been an embarrassment.

That season ticket offer is one of the funniest things I've heard. Christ.

Sheridan's compensation was 'well below 6 figures' according to our local journo too. For what it's worth which is not a lot.

That is ridiculous from Oldham's board, are they supposed to be professionals?

Tell me about it.

To be honest, the offer itself is a good one, and given the home form at the time it brought more numbers in and no doubt aided our upturn in form (along with Sheridan obviously).

The issue is the lack of foresight from a supposed set of business professionals, however I'd like to think there's other reasons why our budget is now suffering other than there being weapons-grade levels of retardation flying about the boardroom.

I honestly presumed they would have put a limited amount of people doing it. Say 100 people? That's a lot of money for anyone to lose under the championship.

Protest happened outside the club yesterday with around 40 people demonstrating. Plans in place for a public meeting for protesters going forward.

The initial emotion has been on show yesterday, whereas all the noises going forward are about construction of an action plan which can make the protest reach the masses. Talks of boycotts pretty season protests and refunds for season tickets

The Charlton/Oldham fixtures should be fun next season then.

What with us Charlton and Bolton making a right cock and balls of running a football club there's only one relegation place left. Pity blackpool went down everyone else wouldn't even need to bother this season

Judging by the pessimism of the Bury fans on here, they may be taking that role...
