First time we've played Shrewsbury since I started going regularly (1998). Surprising, as I've always pegged them as L1 club in terms of size.

Don't expect much here. We're being too way reliant on youth to fill out the squad and there are some question marks over the commitment of some of the more senior players. On the other hand, Shrewsbury are coming off the back of a promotion high and will probably play without much fear. Would take a point all day long.

After gaining promotion at the first attempt we really couldn't have started with many better games than this!!
Confidence amongst the supporters and around the club is sky high at the minute, with many of our supporters (myself included) tipping us as dark horses to be in and around the play offs.
Should Grandison sign in time, then I think we'll lineup as follows:-
Leutwiler
Grandison Ellis Goldson
Tootle Sadler
Lawrence R. Woods Ogogo
Barnett Collins

Think it'll end 1-1 but would not be surprised if we won by 2 or 3.

I don't mind having all the untested youngsters in our team, it has to be better than overpaid veterans sauntering around not caring whether we win or lose. Looking to forward to seeing how Fred handles the step up.

Mellon hasn't used the 352 system all pre season as far as I'm aware. Rather he's opted for 442 so think he'll probably line up :-

Leutwiler

Tootle Goldson grandison (if he signs) Sadler

Brown R.woods Lawrence akpa akpro

Collo Barnett

Don't know much about Tootle but Sadler doesn't strike me as a "wing back" type of player to play in a 352.

I'd have taken a draw beforehand, so to win it, excellent. Was it a penalty? Hard to tell from a Soccer Saturday stream.

From the radio it sounded pretty comfortable in the end, possibly even could have won it by more. Fred sounded outstanding.

Only away winners in the division this evening (in fact, this season! ;))

The Town defender involved, Mat Sadler, confirmed in his post match interview that it was a penalty.

This squad isn't geared up to play 4-4-2. There is no quality in the squad in wide areas, I wouldn't be happy with the options we have in wide areas in League 2 let alone in League 1.

We have an abundance of good quality centre midfield players and centre backs, particularly once Wesolowski and Knight-Percival return from injury, so 3-5-2 is by far the better choice in terms of playing to our strengths and getting more of our better players into the starting eleven. If not 3-5-2 then 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 would be far better than 4-4-2.

Unfortunately I agree. Although I'm willing to give the wingers a few games to prove themselves before judging to much. Even tho akpa akpro isn't an out and out winger he's performed well there over pre season and wasn't awful yesterday. M.woods shouldn't be playing on the wing imo. More effective in the middle. And like you say we've got and abundance of talent in that area.
