Canned it last year. I just wanted the freesat channels with sky and bt sport but you can have that package you have to get all the crap with endless repeats as well. Package was £52a month (all channels bar sport and movies, broad band) and if i had added sport on would have been nearly 90 quid so canned it. Got bt broadband and tv for 28 quid a month with bt sport and buy now tv passes either weekly or monthly depending on what sports on. The stuff like uk gold is endless repeats so i just take out now tv entertInment package on a ad hoc basis. No record function but loads on demand

I had BT TV but got rid primarily because Youview is a bag of shite. Stayed with them on infinity though.

Been installed for a few days now. Absolutely no issues with the minibox connection to the main unit, no dropouts at all. We also had a power cut yesterday yet the minibox reconnected within 60 seconds of the power coming back on with no intervention needed. The installing engineer connected the main unit to the router using the network cable, something I read they didn't do. But regardless of the reason, I've seen none of the issues Abertawe talked about.

Not too fond of those new controls though, very shiny and slippy and the touch pad is entirely too easy to operate by accident.
Yeah, they bombed in all the research done before launch (the touchpad ones) but some senior guy wanted them in because he thought they were cool (this is at least what I've heard).

Anyway, that's why they give you two remotes for the main box, because no one likes the touch pad one.

My main issue with the remotes is that most of the TV's primary controls were achievable with the old classic Sky remote. Beyond changing the source, altering the volume and powering the TV on and off, that doesn't appear to be the case with either of the new ones. Not having a direct button to the TV Guide also pisses me off. In simplifying the remote controls, they've taken them backwards for me.

Yeah but Pagz have you tried losing the touch remote yet? You should, it's the greatest thing ever.

Annoyingly, we have lost one of the remotes, but it's the one that came with the mini box so the locator beep doesn't apply

Have you had any sound issues with your box Pagnell ? My sister had a new setup on Friday and has regular sound dropouts and it looks like it's a common thing with the new box.

Nope. Downstairs the silver box is connected to the TV via HDMI and the TV is then connected to my NB4540 via the ARC port. No dropouts at all that I have noticed. Upstairs the mini box is connected to a small 27" TV via the HDMI and the sound is simply via the TV's internal speakers. No dropouts there too.

Anyone find the Remote sometimes just refuses to work with the box. Pressing buttons and nothing.

The touch remote is shit. I've thrown it in the cupboard and have no intention of using it again. No issues with the standard one though, although the lack of features and buttons in comparison to the classic remote is annoying. As I said above, they've gone backwards.

Also, am I missing something, or is there no way of separating recordings in the planner into categories like you could on the classic Sky box? For example, into sections like Kids, Entertainment etc? I go into the planner and, thanks to 90% of what's recorded being children's programs, it's fucking painful trawling through it looking for something. I know you can go to the A-Z bit and look that way, but it seems an unbelievable oversight by Sky. I hope a firmware upgrade puts it back.

OK, it's safe to say this was a failed experiment. Sky Q is shit, and was released far too early. I'm going back to my 2TB Sky HD box, engineer coming out to replace the LNB next week.

I'm amazed that they're pushing it so hard given the problems it has. Amongst other things - bugs, shite remote controls, parental controls that don't work and render it completely unsuitable for anyone with kids (there is literally no way of making programs like The Walking Dead and Game Of Thrones from the planner ask for a pin if they've been recorded live and, unlike Sky HD, there no way of manually locking a program to ask for a pin) and there is still no way of separating the planner into categories so all you have is one gigantic wall of thumbnails for content that has been recorded. All of this was bad enough 12 months ago, but for these things not to have been addressed by now is ridiculous. I'll miss things like not worrying about clashes and the mini box in the other room, but nothing else. And even better is that I threatened to leave if they didn't allow me to revert to Sky HD box so I got the same package for £30 a month less.

Sky Q is a complete joke. I’ve had it for a year and a bit now, and it’s utter crap, would love my older box back, though I do like the multiroom aspect.

The multi room is the only thing I'll properly miss. But I have an old YouView box that'll do the job upstairs as well as a Minix.

The problems above I mention are only half the issue as well. The UI is shit too, the old HD interface was far better, something I've thought every time I've used HD Sky boxes since I "upgraded" to Sky Q last year.

More people need to do what I'm doing. Sky need to be made aware that people think it's shit.

They’ve invested too much into it (believe it or not) to stop pushing people onto it. It is amazing how badly they’ve messed it up.
