Playing the Crewe fans like a guitar. Pissed them off so more turned up Saturday = extra revenue and now he's had abuse so giving it back.

Retweeted one trolling him on Twitter, pointed out his wife had been threatened at Gresty Road ( wouldnt be the first Vale personells relative to have reported it).

The press haven't really helped publishing the cringey letter from the Crewe fan. Not sure what the obsession with him not having an MBE is? Most Valiants would never want someone with an MBE again near our club after Bill Bratt MBE!

As if any Crewe fans turned up because Vale's cringeworthy cretin of a chairman said they wouldn't. The guy is a total embarrassment and an idiot.

He seems to think we brought double since his comments, when in fact we had sold 950 by the time of his comment. At least 300 odd were always going to buy on the day anyway with no price increase. Not a single Crewe fan would have thought "I'll go Vale today to show Smurthwaite"

A lot of Vale fans seem to think he's got to Crewe fans and made us angry towards him and the Vale. I can't speak for all Crewe fans but for me and most I know that couldn't be further from the truth. The mans a clown a laughing stock. I can only laugh at him and feel sorry for the fans of Port Vale that you have such a clown running your club. Good luck because I fear you will need it with him. The promises of investment and championship football sound very enticing. I just prefer to believe it when I see it and would bet that you will end up in the basement again before you go up.

I personally can't see the fuss, he made a tongue and cheek comment (accurate one) and Crewe fans have over-reacted trolling him on twitter and going mental on the local radio phone ins. Its a bit of banter (although he was more referring to the police costs than anything).

Similar happened when Smurf wished Coventry luck against Crewe to a Coventry fan on twitter (Smurfs a boyhood Cov fan).

Do I worry about the future of Vale because Smurf has upset a few Crewe fans not really, after years of our club being pillaged I am pretty happy to have a chairman who has invested heavily in the club on and off the field and provided us rare stability and progression.

He's said he will invest heavily to get us into the Championship which is a statement. He is hardly going to state he wont invest and hopes we go down!

I don't want to give Smurthwaite the oxygen, he looks like he's stepped out of a Little Britain episode and acts like a 10 year old who's just discovered the internet. LOL TROLLED. Top bants.

But... Absolutely astonished there are Vale fans who are not cringing at his tweets.

I don't really care about his tweets, he can tweet what he wants as long as he runs and invests into the club, we've just got used to his grumpy side and don't really get to stressed about it. He has his outbursts but as I say he has turned the club around on and off the field so we can put up with that to not be getting rinsed by owners and having money taken away from the club as it plummets to getting battered by the likes of Macclesfield Town and Accrington (with all respect to those clubs) with players like Ross Davidson and Chris Slater in our side.

His point was taken out of context by a lot of Crewe fans in that he doesn't understand the low support for such a local game (Oldham took 3000 the similar trip to Dale for eg) and in turn both sets of hooligans mean that the away support doesn't cover the police bill.

Crewe fans got mega self righteous about it and went over the top not aided by the two local papers in Crewe and Stoke in all honesty.

This has resulted in some pretty horrendous abusive messages on twitter by Crewe fans to which he's responded about his wife getting bad abuse at Gresty Road this season (The same happened to Luke Rodgers family a few seasons back so it certainly happens at Crewe).

To be honest as good as the idea seemed when Twitter took off so Chairmen could reach out to fans its probably better not to touch twitter at all.

Pretty much, Davis spouted crap about our retruitment (ironic as he's had to borrow players to prevent certain relegation in the end). Gradi and the video tape. Both times Adams basically told them to shut up and Crewe fans we're seething yet it's ok for them to do it.

VF16 is Smurthwaite.

The man is hilarious, he's riled no one other than a few degenerates. I hope he continues to be such a prat.

On his twitter telling Crewe fans he's dealing in facts and they're wrong, when in fact his facts are made up nonsense, hilarious.

It's like he's a Peter Kay character. He should do a new show based on a chairman running a football club and base the character on him.

Honestly, I think Smurf is a WUM and at first he succeeded in winding us Crewe fans up. However hes taken it too far and he looks like a teenage keyboard warrior trying to get one over on our fans. His wife feared for her life at Crewe? give me a break its all cheap shots at the Crewe fans that have snapped back at him.

One thing though, if I was a Vale fan Id be seriously worried about this guy as an owner. The way he throws his toys out the pram, the embarrassing twitter comments, the high ticket prices and so on. I can also see him making some rash decisions financially to try and get you promoted, which could work in the short run but I think it would end up with Vale back in the red. What the Vale have needed is a stable owner after the last decade or so, and Smurf is not that. There has to be some nagging voice in the back of Vale fans heads telling them this. However I could be horribly wrong and Smurf could get Vale into the Prem with 20k attendances. Doubtful though.

Our match prices are £22 except the Lorne Street which is what your charging today?

He's not likeLy to throw his dummy out simply because the money he'd lose. To sell us he'd want a return on his investment so it would not be in his personal interest.

Hey, stop it. The guy has said he wants to invest heavily to get them promotion. What could possibly go wrong!?!

Why do people give this failure of a club the time of day? They will die soon, thankfully so just let them get overexcited been mid-table in League One.
