Starting to look like Sutton are favourites to be coming up automatically from the NL again.
IF they beat Maidenhead on Saturday they go 4 points clear of Torquay, who then have to play away at 3rd placed Stockport on Sunday.
A Sutton win followed by a Stockport Win/Draw would mean Sutton realistically needing 3 points from their last 2 games for the title.

Would be nice to get Barrow first game of the season then tbh.

Win and we’re going down again, draw and we’ll challenge, lose and we’re going straight back up.

Bristol Rovers 0 Barrow 1 Tom Davies (89mins)
whether that's a goal for a Barrow player or an own goal by a Rovers player depends on your released list.

If Sutton come up, the playoffs are going to be one hell of a fight. The level of teams in there is incredible really:

Torquay
Stockport
Hartlepool
Notts County
Chesterfield
Halifax

Possibly Wrexham. Some big clubs involved there. So glad we got out when we did!

same here, it's getting tougher with every passing season to get out of it.

Imagine what it will be like next season with Grimsby and Southend added IF say Sutton win it and Bromley get into the play off's and come up too.

Three years today since the game that aged me by 5 years and led to one hell of a celebration. Was drunk for a week.

you were lucky finding out that soon - we had to wait until 17th June last year to have promotion confirmed - and Harrogate didn't win the play off final until 2nd August......

Well it has always been strong. We had Oxford, York and Morecambe to contend with in 2007

(And Morecame prevailed...)

and Morecambe were still classed as a 100% tinpot non-league side then - they had never been near the EFL before

When you beat us at Wembley, the play offs were Exeter, Torquay, Cambridge and Stevenage, which was pretty strong. But there was at least one traditional non league club in each of our play off seasons - Stevenage in 08, Histon and Burton in 09, Halifax and Gateshead in 14.

Great set of teams.

Would love Torquay for a local day out, but then it’d be fantastic to see Halifax & Stockport back in the league. Always liked Hartlepool as well.

County and Chesterfield are kinda nothing teams to me, but it would still be good to see them back.

Might actually watch the play offs tbh

Yeah I’m quite relieved that we got out of it in 2016 too, fuck trying to compete in a league with that lot in it. :bg:

Don’t forget there are a bunch of other teams with decent history in EFL in Wrexham, Daggers, Yeovil & Aldershot

and further down National League North has;-

Chester City*, Kidderminster, Boston United, York City, Hereford United*, Gateshead*, Bradford Park Avenue*, Southport, Darlington*

*reformed clubs

and Workington and South Shields both ex-league clubs would have also been there if either of the last 2 seasons at the league below had been completed.

South Shields and Gateshead effectively the same club. SS moved to G in about 1928.

Bradford PA went bust and out of the league in the 1960's, Workington and Southport were voted out in the mid to late 1970's

We replaced Bradford PA in 1970 - they failed re election and we were elected in their place. I remember a poster on our message board who said they still aren’t happy about it.....

Glad we only gave it a fleeting glance as we passed through it on our way here, mind you 20 odd years in leagues below the NLP makes us thankful we are not down there now.

Love what you did with Halifax Laker. Traditional non league indeed. Mind you maybe Wrexham should start being classed as a traditional non league side now they've been down there for so long.

I'm cheering for Sutton & Bromley. Just because a couple of local journeys wouldn't half help.

I've seen us play Bradford, Southport & Workington in Div 3. Players of note were Jimmy Scoular at Bradford Eric Redrobe at Southport & Mike Rogan at Workington. Remember when Bill Shankly was manager at Workington.
