The 6th of February is the last time Liverpool conceded 2 goals in a game. Within 45 minutes of Skrtel coming on they have conceded a penalty and 3 goals.

Putting Skrtel on was baffling, and he's been extraordinarily shit, but some of the comments here are a bit fucked. He's been with us for ages and this is one game.

Klopp should take half the blame for this, no doubt.

#LFC have conceded as many goals in 40 minutes with Martin Skrtel in the team than their previous 795 minutes without him.

Fair play to Saints, they wanted it far more than us in the second half. Very disappointing.

That was just pathetic. Classic Liverpool right when you start to feel a bit hopeful about the league, you crash back to earth. Equally shit every time.

Skrtel comes on concedes a pen and fucks up for 3 of the goals.

As I was watching the Tyne-Wear derby am I to understand that Skrtel was responsible for all the goals conceded then? Or is it just a convenient bit of scapegoating?

What a contrast. First half they couldn't cope with us and we could've gone in 4-5 up. I kind of get why Lovren was subbed at half time but the introduction of Wanyama and Mane changed it for them and Skrtel couldn't handle it, and Sakho looked lost paired up with him.

Our attacking threat 2nd half was minimal and maybe Sturridge should've stayed on and Ibe should've come on to give us an outlet to try and hold onto the game.

He gave away a pen within 3 mins of coming on then looked very shaky for the rest of the half. We looked so much more solid with Lovren in the first half and as a unit we were defensively poor once Skrtel came on, although credit where it's due the introduction of Wanyama and Mane changed it for Soton, although I don't think we would've crumbled the way we did had Skrtel not come on.

It's a convenient bit of scapegoating, but it doesn't make it wrong. He was involved in all of the goals conceded and also managed to give away a pen that Mignolet saved.

He's not just shit, he makes everyone around him shit. But the blame's on Klopp, Skrtel was absolutely awful for the U21's the other day and Kolo, who has been immense when called upon, was left on the bench. It didn't come as a surprise to anyone, basically.

What an atmosphere once we got a goal back.

My favorite chant of the day came from the Liverpool fans though... "Adam Lallana he's winning 2-0".

Awkward.

Over the moon with the comeback despite us being against 12 men.

You talking about the ref who disallowed a goal for us and gave you a pen?

Yeah he had our backs, he did.

Clear pen for us and a red for your £20m flop at 0-0.

I've not seen your disallowed goal again but a few up that end of the stadium say it looked harsh. Hopefully it was the wrong call.

Yeah, Long knocks the ball left and takes the run to the right going straight into the path of Lovren. It's not clear, because he's very much looking for it.

Anyway, you got your pen early in the second half.

As for the disallowed goal, I genuinely don't know because the rule is weird this season. But Sakho isn't interfering with play so if it's the correct call then you pretty much can't shoot if you've got a player in an offside position.

Sakho was actually onside when Allen hit the shot, a Southampton defenders leg was keeping him onside but it was a tough call to get right. Strange how it took about 20 seconds into the celebration for the lino to give it though. As for the pen, it was softer than the one Benteke got against Palace, and if the Long one was given then that would've also been very soft too as Long out his body in front of Lovren then went down so easily despite the touch on his back being less weightful than the shirt he was wearing.

Wasn't Skrtel sent off last week in an U21 game for headbutting an opponent ?

I'll have to see Long's call again but at the ground it did look stonewall.

It was quite amusing how Lallana wasn't interested in applauding the Saints fans today. He was keen to do it after the 6-1 game....

Wanyama and Mane changed the game.
