The bank of HMRC. I guess they charge less interest than normal banks.

Agreed. I've said many times before we utterly take the piss, Ron uses the system to get away with it. None of his other companies ever have issues with paying PAYE.
Until the FA finally makes HMRC preferred creditors over all football debts, clubs like Southend will just use them as a bank loan.

I've said elsewhere I'd also like to see the Italian rule of being allowed only 3 court trips for non-payment before you are deducted points and they do that even if you pay up.

Surely he must be getting fined for late/overdue payments though ? Which is going to cost him in the end. Think I'd rather stay on the right side of HMRC tbh.

The knock-on effect of wages increasing in the top levels means every normal sized club has to overspend to survive at this level. Looks like Sarfend are the latest victim but there will be more.

We’ve had so many it’s a disgrace. Money is definitely tight at the moment, having to get rid of Bond wouldn’t of helped things

But if you can get other people to pay for you then there's no issue.
It's why our pie in the sky new stadium is not actually any good news for us as Ron has so many people to pay back for bailing him out that even with better revenue sources most of the cash will be paying off old debts.

I may be wrong but I'm sure I've read that HMRC is going to become a preferred creditor again as they were before very soon.

I would like a comprehensive financial audit to be introduced for each season and if you take the piss financially then it ultimately will lead to forced relegation at the end of the season. It can be done as leagues in other countries manage it and do relegate clubs (France springs to mind). And I say this with us getting WUPs last season.

At least Ron can renew his regular parking place at the court. :cool1:

But this isn't new for our Essex chums, they've been up to these tricks for years and years. Most clubs would worry about being issued an order and get themselves sorted (if they can), whereas Martin takes the piss on a regular basis - it's not even surprising to hear they're up again! They'll get through this and then get another one in 6 months, nailed on.

Yep, as a I said before until the FA actually gets serious about financial rules in this country Ron will continue to use HMRC as a loan system. It'll be paid off with ease, the next part of the golden share gets paid end of September.
He owns a much bigger company than SUFC and it's not once appeared in court for failing to pay HMRC. He plays the system and he plays it well.

I would also like to see this, sadly it won't happen though as if you brought this in end of this season or next you'd lose at least 30% of the 92 in one go.
No rules like this will ever pass in the PL/EFL as it's turkeys voting for Christmas stuff.

In an embargo, so no signings
Says who???
People are assuming this but no evidence of it anywhere. Wages have now been paid, there's no winding up order. Can't see any reason for us to be under an embargo atm. No signings due to no funds not because we aren't allowed my guess.

We're not under an embargo. Yet more bullshit from Ron though and still won't tell anyone just who wiped out half our debt. And no Ron I don't believe you 'moved some money around.'
I'm expecting some movement player wise but we're struggling to get rid of the high earners due to their current attitude shown at Southend. A couple of them have been offered to most of League 1 and 2, no takers so far.

Can we have Tom Hopper back? Probably the most underrated player we've ever had

No, you really can't.
One of the only ones who bothers. Pleasingly under contract for next season, although I fear he may go this window as he's one of our only assets that we can get some cash for and is certainly good enough for this level.

Reliably informed he has a relegation release clause.

At least you know there won't be points deducted using Bolton's example.
