That's because by any half decent nations standards we are tbf. Good at qualifying (apart from 08), shit at tournaments. Still miles better then the Jocks though.

I'm not only confident of us qualifying next time around, Andy Robertson will be the player of the tournament, and get the winner in the final against the Gerries. With him and Michael O'Neill in charge, we can't go wrong.

I've often wonder why we call you Germans anyway, instead of Deutschlanders or something. Never got that translation. I won't dull you to ask why, I'll look it up mate.

I am no linguist but maybe:
The ancient tribes were called "Germanen" (or Teutonen or Alemannen or....
Maybe that's why you call us "Germans". Why not "Deutsch" or "Deutschländer"? I don't know maybe not to confuse us with the "Dutch"

(btw: I always wanted to know why you call them Dutch....because I see that in the english translation of the Netherlands Hymn "Het Wilhelmus" (whose text is from the 16th century) there is some "confusion" in the english translation:

The text in original (in dutch which is a germanic language): "Wilhelmus van Nassouwe, ben ik, van Duitsen bloed" is translated in English "William of Nassau am I, of Dutch descent;" but "Duitsen" means "Deutschen" (German) so it has to be "William of Nassau am I, of German descent (blood)"

Yeah was reading that Caesar called your tribes Germania and we anglicised it from the Latin. Dunno why it stuck though, as seeing English is a Germanic language anyway. It must just be like how the word dog arose from nowhere in the medieval period when in old English a dog was referred to as a hund (to which we get hound) which is a direct adoption of the German word for dog to begin with. Its also strange because we've adopted so many words in English from the German anyway.

Anyway! Back on topic, we'll be in the semi's at least for the Euro's, mark my words!! We're back baby!!
