Looking strong! If we sign a strong/experienced CM I'd be happy to start the season tomorrow.

Yup, same. Though I'd want Kabamba loaned out and a promising striker loaned in to be really happy with it. McGee is a class signing.

We are looking stronger with every signing. Kept the nucleus of a team from last year so didn't need a massive overhaul. Kept a strong defence together with the addition of Rob hunt from Brighton today on a 3 year deal at left back. How we have pulled that one off ill never know.

Davies is a gamble up front but shez has managed him 3 times now so knows how to get the best of him. Holloway up front is probably the best hold up man in the league (he doesn't score enough) so if Davies can play off him we should have a strong partnership. Rumour of a kid on loan from Everton and also Jose coming back in after his drugs ban, also from Everton. Again Baxter is a gamble but if they pay off our team Is looking good. We should hit the ground running with us not overhauling the squad.
Ripley coming back is another rumour and if that happens I'll be in dream land.
Seemingly gone about business very wisely this summer which must be a first in 10 years both on and off the pitch. We have true latics men on the coaching staff this time around and the positivity is back at bp.

All this means we will finally go down this year just watch

We have lost arguably our best two players and 90% of our goals.
But we have signed a couple from Yeovil and a Southend reject.
Ooohh the pre season excitement is becoming too much.
I haven't been this excited since I bought a new tin of creosote for the garden fence

Add Brett Pitman to that list. Best finisher in this division now Vaughan has left Bury

Alex Jones is the best finisher I've seen at our club in a long time, the trouble is he hardly gets in goal scoring positions. He scored 5 in 15 for us and I can't remember him missing in the games I saw, but in the same breathe there were games in which he didn't have a sniff. A contrast to Jordy Hiwula who got in fantastic positions it was a real strength, he'd get 3-4 chances a game, one problem, he couldn't hit a barn door.

If Jones can keep fit and be in and around the box, I can see him being one of the top scorers in the league comfortably.

It's cute that you all argue about nonsense accolades like "best finisher" because you know Ledson has the best player thing absolutely sewn up.

In all honesty. Can't wait for this season. Some really decent looking squads. Looking forward to playing teams that will try and win and give us a game, rather than camping in their own half trying to get a corner or long throw in for a smash and grab!!

And Makelele barely ever scored. Terrible player.

Oxford have had some very good young players over the past few years. Appy knows the youth teams very well. Hope the new bloke wants to try and play football like appy did. Easily the best team we played at Fratton Park the year you got promoted

Grigg managed 28 goals in a Gary Caldwell team last time we were here. Scored more than Pitman last season despite being injured for over half the season. Having said that, Pitman is a bloody good signing.

@northamptonfans

Cheers lad. Seems like we are going in a different direction now, but all at OUFC enjoyed the last three years I'm sure.

This is true, but we rested half of our team that day as we were already prepping for the play-offs. I'll be diplomatic and say you were both very good that season.

We're all fast approaching our first friendlies, and the squads are starting to bulk.

So, what do you have so far?

KEEPERS:

Colin Doyle
Rouven Satillmaier

DEFENDERS:

Tony McMahon (RB)
Nat Knight-Percival (CB)
Matt Killgallon (CB)
Adam Chicksen (LB)
Jacob Hanson (youngster)
Kwame Boateng (youngster)
Tom Windle (youngster)

MIDFIELDERS:

Romain Vincelot (DCM)
Timotheè Dieng (DCM)
Jake Reeves (DCM)
Nicky Law (CM)
Alex Gilliead (RW)
Tyrell Robinson (LW)
Dan Pybus (CM)
Danny Devine (CDM)
Callum Gunner (CM)

STRIKERS:

Charlie Wyke
Alex Jones
Shay McCarten
Dominic Poleon
Paul Taylor
Omari Patrick
Reece Webb-Forster

As with most squads, our business this window hasn't finished, we're still way short in defence - but this squad will be the youngest we've had for many a year.

Doyle

McMahon - ??? - KNP - Chicksen

Vincelot - Reeves

Jones - McCarten - Law

Wyke

That's as good as anyone's can't believe Blackburn are 100 million in debt I feel for their fans.

A squad of 30 and you want 5-6 more players??
Since I wrote that, we've signed another 2 players. Carlton Morrris on loan from Norwich and James Bolton from Gateshead for an undisclosed fee.

We've released Jim O'Brien and still looking to get rid of Leutwiler, Burton, McGivern, Dom Smith and Leitch Smith.

With all those players still to leave (hopefully) and the fact that squad is made up with a lot of 1st year pro's - we still need another 3-4 players.

Very happy with our business so far!

Morris could turn out to be a shrewd signing for you. Was unfortunate for us as he came in at a time when he should have started a lot more due to our lack of firepower and overall quality in the final third last season (Danny Ward aside), but didn't because of injury and then being unable to get a run in the team.

Warne and Johnson (recruitment) must have seen something as he was hyped up quite dramatically, however, many of our fans saw a lot of it as hot air and nothing more.

You'll have to let us know how his performances turn out with fitness under his belt and a run of starts.

They always say build from the back. We do the opposite. No.1 GK and 2 more CB's still to sign. Probably another couple of wingers/forwards with new investment money.
*UPDATE CB's signed. Still need a keeper and a Forward. I don't think I've ever been this excited for a season before. Its very unnatural.

Goalkeeper(s)

David Cornell
James Goff (neo-pro)
Defenders
Brendan Moloney RB
Aaron Phillips RB
Leon Barnett CB (Bury)
Aaron Pierre CB (Wycombe)
Regan Poole CB (Man Utd Loan)
Ash Taylor CB (Aberdeen)

George Smith LB (Gateshead)
Midfielders
Matt Crooks (Rangers)

I imagine you'll loan him out and attempt to develop him.

With Woods yet to feature this pre-season, I imagine he'll be competing with Vermijl for the right back slot initially.

Will give him the benefit of the doubt.
