Yes i am not disputing Championship finances, i am saying in League one and Two with both Crawley and Rovrum he had loads to spend hence they rightly were expected to go up, now they are a small fish in a big pond and one of the lowest budgets and spenders.

The latest finances for Rotherham are for when they were in League 1 when they clearly were not one of the biggest spenders...... and their turnover was much more than twice what they spent on wages. That's a better ratio than at most other clubs. They also more or less broke even in League 1 and League 2, suggesting they weren't splashing out on players either.

Why not? It is his first job in management (in this country, second after a decent spell at Antwerp) after McClaren recommended him to them after he'd been coaching here for a short period. He's won 27 out of 42 games, which is quite some record with what a lot of people agree is a very average side.

The Derby job is not and will not be available, but our spending power could quite easily persuade him. He will be a Championship manager by Christmas, but it will be at a much better club than Rotherham.

Absolute stunned! very strange decision from the board after winning back to back matches, cant be for football reasons why he's been sacked.

Not being an admirer of the man, possibly because of his "charisma"
~ I did think he had a very healthy relationship with his employer, inasmuch as he could talk freely and sometimes demean {almost} the hand that fed him. But it was just joshin' I think.I can't think of another manager so direct and uncompromising in his remarks about his employer.

And it all seemed to go down as Steve being Steve ~ no reprimands nor any public dispute.

So, I am like you Reaper, a bit confused. It can't be for football reasons, not after the last 3 weeks.

He reminded me originally of a Barry Fry, a downmarket version ~ if such exists.
Barry Fry had 48 pro's {cheap} - signed up at the same time, and he had a his P45 pencilled in when David Sullivan found out that Bazza was taking a cut on all transfers ~ in and out ~ apparently the way they did it in his unsupervised earlier days.
Karren Brady as CEO then took over all financials regarding transfers.
I'm not saying Evans did that.

It's just that the similarity in my mind to Bazza Fry made me think twice.

There's only one reason for it and all it could possibly be and that's that Tont Stewart won't let new signings leave (agree with him), won't renew exisiting loan deals or sanction new ones, Evans said fuck it I'll leave then and Tony Stewart said no worries. Trigger for it would have been renewing Vadis' loan deal, we were paying 12k a week of his wages (massive amount for us) and Tony Stewart obviously didn't fancy it any longer. Ironically that also would have been the compromise in the situation they should have settled on, just renew Vadis' loan deal and leave everything else be (fucking good player btw too).

So now we lose our greatest ever manger (on a par with Ronnie IMO) and we'll be worse off for it. Steve Evans will succeed wherever he goes and we'll suffer from this point onwards.

Had the very best of my footballing memories because of Steve Evans and countless nights out and weekends away because of where he's took us, so I'm not affraid to say I love the man and that I'm extremely sad.

I'm also concerned about there we go from here. (It'll be Eric Black on a permanent basis so he can sack him and start again when we go down).

My pick would be Nigel Pearson, his son has been training with us for two months with Guly Do Prado (who Tony Stewart won't sign) but I know that won't happen. Failing that bring back King Ronnie.

Agree with everything you say apart from bringing back Ronnie Moore, we will struggle to find a winner and great motivator like Steve Evans who always seem to win the big matches under pressure when it mattered. I would love to know the real reason why he was sacked but unfortunately we'll never know. My best days supporting the millers has been under Evans by far then any other manager and i think we'll go back to our boring selfs from before, always losing big games and no passion on the pitch, hope im wrong. I would love someone like Nigel Pearson but i don't think that's realistic so ill go for Jimmy Floyd if we could pursuade him to come.
