Haha not a single shot on goal, and playing total rearguard by the sounds of things on the radio.

You just know this means we'll nick it in the second half.

Happy we are losing is much deserved. Curle won't last till Oct with his atrocious approach to football

Only one team had anything to play for and it showed. Nothing to do with Curle's tactics, we were just physically out fought.

No problem with the lineup, the 5 at the back has worked recently. The problem was Wyke came off after 2 minutes injured, beck came on and couldn't hold the ball up, so we were losing it Everytime we went into their half. Once we brought Rigg on in the second half we started playing and actually could have nicked an undeserved point.

Unfortunately beck hasn't developed at all, he doesn't look good enough for this level.

Listening on the radio it sounded like a case of coming up against a better team, with more to play for and making it hard work if not particularly difficult for the opposition. Onwards to a joint* survival party against Hartlepool.

*pun not intended.

Definitely deserved the 3 points today, a good showing against a Carlisle side who in all honesty looked like they were just relieved to be safe... First half was possibly the most one-sided half I'd seen us produce this season but it was still 0-0 at half time, couldn't believe that!

Play-offs confirmed too, can't wait for Luton next week... Let the mocking begin! :D

It goes to show how funny a game it is really. If you'd told Carlisle fans who witnessed us beat Stevenage 3-0 at Brunton Park back in September that next time the two clubs met it would secure Stevenage's play-off place you'd have been laughed out of the place. The consensus was largely that Stevenage were in serious trouble and indeed anyone who finished below them this season would go down. I still would say that in all the games I've been to this season, Stevenage on that day were by far the worst team. Funny really.

I glanced through this thread pre-match and I have to say the general confidence from Carlisle's fans made me slightly concerned we'd be in for a really tough test today, shouldn't have worried as I doubt Chris Day had a easier afternoon's work all season.

Comfortable win all told, should have won by a greater margin than 1 goal, but a win's a win and our play-off place is now officially confirmed. Thought Dean Parrett had another great game, rapidly becoming our most important player, also Andy Bond deserves credit, far from a fan favourite but has put together a string of solid performances in recent weeks so fair play.

I'll jump at any chance at optimism at this stage, truth be told it was always going to be tough for us. Looks like you've got every chance going into the play-offs so best of luck to you.

Sides with nothing to play for have the potential to be quite dangerous opponents, generally depends if they play with freedom, as you were hoping, or with their flip-flops on! Have to say you boys looked like a side waiting for the holidays, I guess you would have taken safety going in our match if offered it a few weeks back, seemed like a couple of your fans were preparing for life in the Conference if this place was anything to go by.

sort've gave up listening in the end it was just so boring.

For me just more proof they need to get rid of Curle ASAP, I think if we keep him it'll be the 3rd year in row we make glaring error of keeping hold of the wrong manager and letting him blow the entire summer's build-work before doing yet another change soon after.

1 good week seems to have covered up months or terrible ones.

I think if nothing else Curle has shown he's pretty good with recruitment, so that should stand us in good stead over summer. Wyke, Kennedy, Corry, giving Rigg his debut, Buddle; all good signs that he can actually spot a player. Of course some of the loans have been hit and miss, but I wouldn't expect anything else given our position. Certainly seems better at it than Kavanagh, but then so is my nan.

The positive thing again is we look like we can defend.

In the first half we were dominated, but they didn't have any real glaring opportunities, they had a good shot that curled wide from outside the box, and forced a good left handed save from Gillespie but other than that we dealt with their pressure quite well. Second half we switched off and let them get an early goal, they also hit the post, but we stated in the game despite being outplayed and outbattled in midfield. There were plenty of blocks from our back 5, defenders putting their bodies on the line, headers being won against their physical players.

We've capitulated when under the cosh this season, but the last 4 games have shown that with this system we can be solid even when we play shite.

There's a Derby fan on our forum, who has recently developed an interest in CUFC, for unknown reasons. He's saying that Dempsey is overrated, based on this single game, amongst other bullshit. Massive WUM.

well i hope you all are correct.

I am not saying get rid of Curle now because i am trying to be ultra negative but we made 2 glaring errors in the last 2 years which was deciding in May to stick with who we had and 'give them the summer' then found out by August that was a horrendous decision.

i have still not really seen anything yet from Curle to make me think he'll improve us in summer, hopefully i am totally wrong on that, but i think its another relegation dogfight if we keep him as it'll be same mistake made 3 years in a row.
