I don't get Stoke. They've changed their football under Hughes and are a much better side to watch and looked like really stepping up a level with past signings, but they've done nothing in this window. Absolutely fuck all. Other than tie down Arnautovic. But where are the additions?

Joe Allen's a decent signing, should be an upgrade on Glenn Whelan anyway.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Bardsley a little lucky to be still on the pitch...

Fucking hell that's a ridiculous pen decision. Dean just loves the attention.

Which is precisely why I put them in the mix to go down. They have bags of quality but not doing anything in a whole window (or just buying Joe fucking Allen) is simply not going to get you anywhere.
Liked Iheanacho's composure on the 3rd goal to set up Nolito. He looks quite cool in front of goal (and Given is still a very good one). Sterling needs to be more useful in the box or he won't stay on the pitch.

The lack of replies in this thread is staggering! How small-time are City in England?

There aren't really any city fans on this board. I don't know of any others besides me and Silkyman actually. And I don't post much :)

Not exactly the most welcoming environment for City fans!

Had to follow most of this on Radio 5 and Twitter. Radio five were very adamant that City's penalty was correct by the letter of the law (aren't they supposed to be tightening up on the rucks at corners this season) but also that Stoke should have had a pen in the first half.

Good result though. And it seems we know that Nolito can 'do it on a wet afternoon in Stoke' now.

City's penalty was correct. Stoke should have had 2 more than the one they got for fouls on Walters (kicked in the midriff) and Allen (clearly barged over) and Iheanacho's goal should have been a free kick to Stoke for a foul by Iheanacho.

Not to mention the 2 studs up challenges he didn't book city players for in the first 20 mins. Fair to Say other than giving the City and Stoke first penalties had a shocker unless you're a city fan

Just catching up with MOTD, and yeah, they should have had a penalty, but he made up for it in the second half with a really soft one that the Shawcross didn't think was a penalty and he pushed Sterling first! I can sort of see his thinking though. He's looking for fouls at corners and set pieces so will see more of them rather than just in normal open play.

It's going to be a bit of a wierd season with different refs interpreting it differently as apparently there could have been a few in the Leicester game.

Meanwhile it's nice to hear Phil Neville - in the same fucking sentence - moaning that Sterling doesn't get enough assists and that he passes to team-mates in better positions for them to score.

Mike dean is such a cock.

Referees ignore those incidents week in week out and with good reason. You simply cannot expect the rules to be applied the same way in open play with fewer players running from different postions as when almost two full teams are piled into the box with players moving from a standing start.

You start giving them and there are going to be at least two pens a game probably more. You could potentially get one given almost every advanced set piece. Whatsmore it's almost impossible to tell in live action who is at fault in these incidents. Attackers knowing whats to gain with so little to lose are going to back into defenders waiting for arms to come up or be pushed then go down. It jsut sets a ludicrous precident.

So to sum up, Mike Dean is a massive cock.

City may well break the record for penalties awarded in a season by Christmas at this rate.

Do appeals still delay suspensions, like could they be appealing just so he can play vs United?

I think they speeded up the process to avoid that happening.

Academic now, but you can only appeal once, and unless you have a game on say, Saturday/Tuesday, you'd be hard pressed to use an appeal to get the player in for the next game.
