I don't know who the other candidate is but they'd have my vote.

I think two candidates have dropped out so its just her and a middle aged man running. I know who my money is on.

I hope that zero tolerance policy on student nights stretches to her offensively bad dancing. Has she got some sort of degenerative bone condition? No-one can lack that much coordination, she dances like a broken puppet.

I am not going to comment on bad dancing on student nights. Dread to think what I looked like some nights after way too much rum/vodka etc. Thought she wasn't too bad though. The ones at the back are pretty bad especially far right!

It was a Carnage event night last night, best two nights of the year if you avoid the main crowd so that you don't que for half an hour for a drink. Still in recovery.

Really hated Carnage back in my student days (graduated in 2013), don't think I went to one after first year

Third year History student at Sheffield Hallam.

Applied for a PGCE in Secondary History at Sheffield Hallam, University of Nottingham and Manchester Met. Made it to interview at all three, but withdrew from Manchester and didn't make it past interview at the other two. University of Nottingham were extremely unprofessional, by the way. I would not recommend them. Thankfully the other day Hallam went back on their initial decision in December and I was offered a place. :)

Now battling hard to find the will to write my dissertation. Currently bordering somewhere between a 2:1 and a first. I get an extra £5,000 in bursaries next year if I can get a first, but I just don't think I have the will or the ability to be consistent enough.

Oh and my dissertation is on the evolution of Nazi ideology 1919-33. Think I picked a decent topic, there's a wealth of primary material because the works of all the major thinkers have been translated. It's just, 14,000 words, man.. it's impossible.

Got my January exam results back. Did really well in 4/5 modules and absolutely awful in the other, when I thought it was my best one. Result: Averaging 69.8%. One more mark in any of my modules would've bumped me up to a 1st. gahhhh.

Sounds like a really interesting topic.

Finding it hard to motivate myself to revise when I only need 3 E's to get in. :D

What are you averaging overall? If you finish up with a 69.8% there is a chance they'd bump you up.

69.8% would be a first definitely. It's like everything else whereby the grade boundaries are generally just below. You definitely wouldn't miss out due to 0.2%

the grade for one semester doesn't really matter much in the grand scheme of things anyway, its just the frustration of it if those results are accurate.

Can only be better than when my final undergraduate grades came out. Everyone was meant to be emailed a list then you matched up your student number with the result. Instead half of the people got sent a list with everyone's names on and the other half (which included me) were sent nothing.

bloody hell. Seriously dont understand what's so hard about it. They must have our results at least a couple of days in advance and be able to make sure everythings in the correct places etc. so they just have to 'hit go' on results day.

Liverpool are absolutely awful when it comes to results. Every time the website is an absolute joke. Last summer they sent out people's final results to random other people rather than those who they actually belonged to and last time released them accidentally for a few hours but then the rest of us had to wait about a week for them to come out 'officially'. How hard can it be?

Is it normal to be emailed results? My final degree results were posted on the wall in our department, just a list with student numbers instead of names, there's not a lot of technology that can go wrong with that.

These days I think. I've never had to leave the house to get any results.

We always had to log on to Learn (the intranet thingy I assume all Unis have a version of) and you had a results page that updated. It was pretty unreliable because they'd just give a rough time but there was never any issues, there was always a few nerds that sat refreshing all day then sent a group Facebook message to say they were up.

I got my final results on my birthday last year whilst on holiday, which had the potential to be a nightmare but wasn't.

we have to guess where they'll post them on our intranet. Its genuinely guess work as so far they've been at a different place every time and they don't bother emailing you where or when to find them.

I thought a 9-12k word count was bad enough...

Sounds like a really interesting topic.

Was that sarcasm or are you serious? :D

It's okay. I am just about to finish the first chapter on anti-Semitism which has been eye-opening. Obviously they didn't like the Jews, but some of the stuff the Nazis published was horrific, especially in Der Stürmer.

Here's two from the 1928-31.

The Jew as objectionable creatures such as rats, spiders and worms was especially common. It's hard to imagine such hatred.

Approaching it in chunks doesn't seem to make it any easier, either!

My masters dissertation was 20k which wasn't as hard as I had imagine it would be. My topic was about how state interference in East German football effected society which was really interesting which always helps when you have to write something of that length. I think it also helped that most of the essays we had to do were 7k so you got used to writing a fair length all the time anyway.

No, genuinely seems quite interesting, would love to do a dissertation like that on something over time, measuring a change.
