Given its a first look, I don't think its a bad teaser, a look at pretty much every member and a good look at the Joker. I was expecting them to hold back a look at him until right before the release as possible. As for Leto's Joker aside from the physical appearance seems crazier and more violent then Ledger's Joker.

I think there might be enough in the plot and certain characters to make this work, just. Think Quinn, Deadshot and the Joker will be the only memorable characters from this film. Interesting to see that they have Batman in this trailer. Wonder what role he has in this film, I'm guessing a small one. The more I think about it, the more I think that if Leto did do a similar Joker to the one Ledger did, that wouldn't be a bad thing. Such a shame however that Ledger isn't here anymore, would have loved to see him go up against the Suicide Squad.

Think the Suicide Squad may be set up for the purpose of catching people like Batman. We see Harley Quinn as a normal person to start in the film, I expect her to change to her more psychotic self fairly early unless the clips of her transformation etc are flashbacks. Anyway I expect the Batman/Joker interaction to happen very early, hence Waller's insistance on needing a squad, to take down people like Batman, Superman etc.

I didn't mind the trailer, actually. However, I saw someone comparing Leto's "I'm just going to hurt you... really, really bad" to Ledger's "Let's put a smile on that face" and they commented on how one is far more menacing than the other. I have to agree.

Thing is Ledger's Joker was fully in control so to say, I'm expecting Leto's Joker to be more wild, violent, sadistic etc

So tired of comic book culture dominating the box office. I can't wait until they all start to bomb, they're as tedious as remakes.

Never understand why someone with a clear active dislike of comic book superhero movies would click on a thread title that is obvious about said subject and then offer his opinion about them. I can't stand WWE, so I'll go and post how much I hate it in the Wrestling thread. Oh no wait, no I won't because that would be stupid and a waste of time. Thanks for your stunning input, now kindly go away.

To be fair, I'm not a fan of them and didn't have a clue what the subject was referring to until I clicked in. Suicide Squad sounded like a teen pop group.

I just had the courtesy to click straight back out again (after posting this pointless message).

It's not like that. People can enjoy what they like, I'm stating I hate how it's overwhelming the box office. Don't you think the oversaturation is harmful to these adaptations? Surely as a fan that's a cause for concern?

For me, the films are different enough to stand on their own. Take like, Iron Man vs The Winter Soldier vs Guardians of the Galaxy for example. 3 films that are a part of the same franchise, but each are completely their own. Iron Man is more of your usual "man becomes a hero" type thing, but Winter Soldier has more in common with say, the Bond movies or what ever, based on intrigue and such. And then GotG is closer to Star Wars, being a full blown sci fi space opera. For me there is enough variation to keep me interested right now, and in fact I think that Marvel in particular on a very good run since Avengers of superb movies.

The way I always look at it is that they're just action movies that happen to be based on super heroes/comic books. To say that the super hero genre is being over done is, to me, to say that the action genre is being done.

I dunno. I'm a massive comic book nerd so I guess it wouldn't bother me. Until they start to really run out of ideas (and they've got 60-70 years worth of stories to draw inspiration from) or drop in quality (which doesn't look to be happening any time soon, Ant Man looks like another winner) I'm just going to keep on enjoying it.

Really good post. I'd argue that action films have become superhero films. Once the general public give up on this genre of action the studios will find something else to make money from and shift the genre into a different form for another generation.

You might notice the nuances of the films but the general population won't see it like that. I do like comic adaptations, but even I have hit a point I f disillusionment. When they're bringing out Antman you know they're milking the genre for everything it's worth while it's hot.

I'm not sure I agree. I think there is a strategy behind their thinking. They have a ton of heroes that they could be making films about, heroes far more well known than Ant-Man or GOTG but they lead to a bigger picture.

I get they're building to more team based films. I might be completely wrong, maybe the hardcore fan base is large enough to keep the films profitable, as well as the inclusion of the child market. I just think the general public will grow tired of them in the next 5 years, especially now so more and more are coming out every year.

No, I think a part of you is right, in so much that it's only going to take one balls up or so before the collapse comes. They'll always be Batman or Superman films but it'll slow back down to how it was a decade or so ago. You only have to look at Sony and their desperation to get Spiderman right. I'm the biggest comic nerd on here and I think it needs to slow down!

I think WB have accelerated quicker into getting to the Justice League and Suicide Squad due to the success of The Avengers. They want in while the buzz is there but I think they're jumping the gun and it'll backfire. The next time they wheeled The Joker out was always going to be big business, Batman too. Now they've rushed it and it'll only taint the draw of the characters.

DC came out a while ago and said that they weren't in competition with Marvel when it came to films and they would take it slowly....which was a load of crap! I think they panicked as their "brand" came out before the Avengers and yet everyone thinks it's the other way around. They needed to do something...they tried to bring out the "first" female superhero film but that lost directors left, right and centre and then threw in a reasonably big name male to help it along. Batman is their biggest franchise and so they need to milk that for all that it's worth...Suicide Squad was probably the next obvious choice. Birds of Prey didn't do too well...!!

What Ledger did with The Joker was mind blowing!!! An anarchist who seemed on edge but was in control the entire time. His adaptation was a masterpiece.

I think Leto will take the character to a more sadistic violent side more towards the comics. My only concern is he looks too much like Marilyn Manson.

In regards to superhero movies overwhelming the box office, I kind of agree and I think by 2017 the bubble will bust and people will get sick of them.

DC should have a monster year, finally the 2 most iconic superheroes in a movie together then they will introduce a new set of characters along with the most iconic villain.

Marvel however need to slow down, Dr Strange, Captain America....another Spider-Man...and even on TV with Agents of Shield and Agent Carter..It's getting a bit too much. Although Daredevil was superb!! Avengers 2 did not deliver for me and they really need to make the 3rd one work.

Ant Man...early box office records show it didn't drum up initial interest but I understand it was needed if he will play a big part in future Avenger movies. Movie was ok...I enjoyed it but not a movie I want to watch again.

After seeing that trailer, I think Leto's Joker is the closet to the "real thing" that we've ever had. Minus the tats.
