Purposely waited until after the Palace game to start this thread as I wanted to see how the players who came into the side got on last night got on before predicting a team.

Can't wait for this one, squad's riddled with injuries though so I'd be well happy with a draw.

Fielding
Pisano Flint Wright Bryan
O'Dowda Smith Brownhill Pato
Reid Taylor
I hope Reid, Smith, Pisano and Paterson are ready to go but that's perhaps a tad optimistic.

Sunderland 1-1 Bristol City (Jones 12', Reid 79')
1,957 City fans.

LJ said his plan was to only give Pisano 45 mins to an hour tops Tuesday, think he may be on the bench this weekend in favour for a back 4 where we don't have to make a substitution if not necessary. Expect him to start soon after and at latest after the international break. Baker is back so 100% he walks back into our team as our best centre back, Leeds and the first 30 mins vs Palace show what its like without him. The question over Pato will be whether he's ready to start a game as well, big difference between chucking him on for 30 mins vs potentially needing to get 90 out of him. Could this mean Mags or Kelly at LB with Joe at LM again... And think Holden said Reid would be fit for this as would Smith.

Think we have a couple of ways to play this depending on player fitness, note to say if Pisano is fit to play 90 he starts instead of Wright.

Fielding
Wright Flint Baker Mags/Kelly
O'Dowda Smith Brownhill Bryan
Reid Taylor

The other option being

Fielding
Wright Flint Baker Bryan
Brownhill Pack Smith O'Dowda
Reid Taylor
Is Paterson is fit then he'd come in for either Mags/Kelly in #1 with Bryan to LB and O'Dowda LW, in option 2 take out Pack and move Brownhill to CM.

Going to this one. We’re leaving tomorrow morning and staying for two nights in Newcastle, as you do!

They haven’t won at home since December? Did I hear that right?

Good news re Baker, Reid and Smith, massive boost to us. If they’re fit and start, I fancy our chances Saturday!

Narrow away win for me.

Likewise mate, I'm heading up tonight and doing a night in Leeds followed by two in Newcastle.

if Baker's back I fancy our chances.

Thank fuck for that Palace result, that'll give us a lot of confidence for this game. Shame we've had a little bit of an injury crisis in recent weeks, with Smith, Pato, Pisano, Baker, Djuric all coming back from injuries hopefully we can manage a narrow win. Hopefully Mags doesn't have to start, in the first 30 mins vs Palace he looked poor.

Goal against the run of play.
Unfortunately Baker taken off injured.
Hope it's not serious, too many injuries right now.

Up to 4th now. Hopefully signals we’ve not fallen into the slump like last season.

Didn't play at all to our best, second half much improved though and I think we deserved the 3 points in the end.

Was fearing the worst when baker went off injured and I think if he was still on the pitch we wouldn't have conceded just before half time!

Sunderland did look awful though, wouldn't be at all shocked if they end up relegated.

Sunderland could easily go a full calender year without winning at home. I think I'm right in saying they haven't even taken the lead at home this year. It's amazing that they have any fans still going at all.

It's a credit to the Sunderland fans that quite a few still turn up!

Must be so depressing....

I don't have any sympathy for Sunderland. They continue to play fucking John O'Shea still, what do you expect.

Not sure about anyone else, but there seems to be little interest in Sunderland this season. Usually a so called big club club comes down and you get a lot of talk of past glories and this and that. Even their own fans have lost interest. Lost 15k on the gate and away support is not as good as it has been in the past. Can't blame them though I suppose, they are utter shite.

I'd hate to have your head at the minute, and come to think of it your wallet too. Bet you had a great weekend though.
Just checked out of our hotel in Newcastle, going to find a bar to watch the football all afternoon and then flying back at 7ish. Cracking weekend, set me back quite a bit but we go again Tuesday, night in London for Fulham away.
