I didn't chat as I was in the terrace but he arrived alone, shook hands with a few people and spent a lot of time chatting to someone next to him. Fair play to him for going along, I don't think many people bear a grudge against him really.

Relieved to see he has recovered from his July illness too.

I've a feeling Matty Taylor might not be as similarly welcomed if he goes to watch another Oxford game this season.

He got a few pelters when he was warming up in front of us, and I think he might have showcased his celebration at that point too but I'm not sure. He's clearly the sort of guy who'll thrive off that sort of thing though, and I have no real problem with it.

Was pleased by our performance yesterday given we simultaneously rested a few. Dunno what Oxford fans think but I think if that sitter had gone in at the end it would have been a little undeserved in my view given they just seemed to give up after going down to 10.

Was surprised by Sercombe and Lundstram, thought they'd be the main threat to us yesterday but they were second to everything. Was impressed by Hemmings though, running into the channels etc. was good and a great finish.

Onto Wednesday, think we could pick up points from Southend and Swindon so to get something against Bolton would be great too.

Dominated the majority of the game and thoroughly deserved the win. Should have been 2 or 3 up at half time but somehow found ourselves pegged back at 1-1.

We started the second half a little slow but once we brought Taylor off the bench on about 60 minutes we got back on top and should have bee out of sight before Oxford nearly stole a point at the death.

Entertaining game. I think both sides will have decent seasons.

I thought we were very poor on sunday. never saw the game live. But from all the clips and radio commentary our end it seemed we well off the pace. The sending off changed the game, and when the second rovers goal goes in, its was going to be tough against a team with a good home record.
We somehow created a brilliant chance in injury time, and sounded like an absolute sitter and it was missed. On reflection if that went in it would of mean't Rovers had been Dick Turpined.

Its early days, two games in its not a sprint its a marathon.

Not sure it changed the game? We were in control for the majority of the game up to that point and the only thing it changed was the number of players you had on the pitch. We would most likely continued to be in control had he not been sent off.

Happy with the result obviously. Busy week and that's one of the weaker 11 we'll start with this season.

Based off that, both of your defences are shite. WTF was that Oxford defender trying to do for the Rovers winner?!

My eyes aren't the best but I believe it's Sercombe, a CM with an eye for goal who had to fill it at RB after our back up got sent off. Still not ideal but I wont lose much sleep about a poor decision from him.

Anywho I have to be honest and say I think we are in danger of over-egging the glorious triumph of Bristol Rovers. No Oxford fan can rightfully complain about the result but we missed two incredibly good chances ourselves, conceded to two entirely avoidable errors and only really shit the bed in the first five minutes.

I think it's entirely reasonable to say we may have held on to a - slightly fortuitous - draw with 11 men.

Yeah I think that's accurate. 11 it was slightly more even.

The way you lot gave up after going down to 10 though meant it would've been a bit harsh had Roberts' (?) effort gone in, the way it fell to him was a bit lucky in itself. Having said that, the bloke still should have scored.

Agree with all that. Although I'm not sure we would have done much more had we gone hell-for-leather as we were losing every 50:50 and the team we had out just didn't have the physical presence to compete.
