Looking forward to today. Should be a good game with 2 sides who sound like they have defensive issues. One of the Tranmere fans predicted 2-2, I don’t think that’s a bad shout.

FWIW I liked Olly Banks when we had him last season, he can pick a pass, has a decent shot on him and is good in the air. He seemed to fade after Flitcroft left and I think Doughty is probably the better player but he’s definitely a decent league 2 midfielder. Hopefully Dave is now fully fit and we can nullify your midfield.

Our issue is at the back and if you have a fast right winger (I think you’ve signed one on loan?) and we play Matt Taylor at left back we could be in for a long afternoon.

Safe trip to all the Tranmere fans coming, at least there will be no issues with floodlights today :)

Be a good game this afternoon. We surely cant keep missing hatfuls of goals while at the same time defending like Oleg McNoleg. Be nice to get an early one for a change.

Given everyone agrees there’s lots of goals in this, anti-logic states it’ll finish 0-0.

Any other team we would have just gone on to beat 4-0 today, but because it's swindon we get a man sent off at 2-0 up on 18 mins and lose to a pathetic own goal

Isn’t Football great!

We were pants, really. Even against 10 men we looked likely to concede again. Plumbed the depths of defensive incompetence today.

Thank God for Doughty and that Tranmere twat who got sent off - dreadful challenge, too. We’ll go nowhere without a major defence rebuild.

Did anyone note the actual number of Rovers fans at the County ground today?

Pretty ridiculous game of football. Tranmere scored two very simple goals based on our pathetic centre back partnership (to be fair one of them is a youth but he looked way way way out of his depth at times) and I feared a hiding. The red card changed the game, pure and simple. I actually thought our player jumped into the challenge but was surprised to see a red for the Tranmere player.

We subbed off Diagouraga who had done nothing and brought Marc Richards on and the pendulum swung our way with a decent goal by Adebayo, good work from Doughty. I did fear Tranmere on the break, they were incisive, sharp and looked dangerous.

Second half we took control and the extra man told. Alzate came on and Doughty and he ran the show. Alzate picked out Richards and he finished neatly. We were knocking on the door and from a corner and I think another Alzate pass our youth team defender miscontrolled the ball and it somehow squirmed into the corner of the goal, an utter fluke!

Before the game I picked out the Tranmere 5 and 6 as weak links but how wrong I was! McNulty isn’t exactly mobile but was solid and the big brute Monthe was class, nothing got past him. Not going to mention the time wasting as any side would have done the same but Monthe’s time wasting ‘injury’ towards the end of the first half amused me.

Harsh result on Tranmere but a very welcome 3 points for us.

Is this the same James Norwood you used to call fuck out of every week for missing loads of one on ones?
He still does. Just creates that many chances for himself that he scores. If you read that mail article you’ll see he references it himself.

Feels like we've had a ropey start to the season yet still have 2 league wins from 3.

Defensive recruitment required with some urgency, but then it has been all summer.

Our recent record against Swindon is truely abysmal. I’ve been the county ground four times and we’ve lost them all.

Just looked at our head to head record since 2009;

Tranmere 1-4 Swindon (2009)
Swindon 3-0 Tranmere (2010)
Swindon 0-0 Tranmere (2011)
Tranmere 0-2 Swindon (2011)
Swindon 5-0 Tranmere (2012)
Tranmere 1-3 Swindon (2013)
Swindon 1-0 Tranmere (2013)
Tranmere 1-2 Swindon (2014)
Swindon 3-2 Tranmere (2018)

Swindon have won 8 of 9 meetings with the other a draw. Fuck me that’s depressing. Actually thought we’d break the streak today.

Any other sides have a bogey team and who?

That Harris challenge is disgusting. He tried to go in on the player in the previous challenge too - what the hell happened?

A pretty fair assessment. I am absolutely gutted as some of our football in the first half was great, even when we went down to ten men, and without the red card I don't believe we would have drawn, let alone lost the game.

However, Swindon played exactly as you should against ten in the second half, moving the ball from side to side to the point where we were knackered and could not get up the pitch to press. They just ground us down in the end.

The first three matches have still given me confidence that we can compete in League Two, as Norwood, Smith and Jennings look naturals at this standard. Despite the scoreline, the defence was excellent today as well, with the exception of Caprice.

Doughty looked a good player for Swindon, although he had all the time he wanted in possession in the second half as we were so deep. Add him to the list of thousands who are better than Ollie Banks (possibly).

Our defence was a shambles yesterday. Not too much of a worry in the long term as not having a proper left back did effect the balance of it, but certainly an issue for the next few weeks.

Harris gonna Harris. Short man syndrome is a terrible affliction.

Should be done for 10 matches for that.

Won’t be many more blatant sendings off than that. No need, either. 15 minutes without any needle from either side and your team bossing it. Their keeper was winding up our fans, too. Good to shove that right up his arse.

I did not actually think they were. I thought it was more a case of coming under so much pressure in the second half, with the ball constantly around our eighteen yard box, that something was going to give. Defending set plays is the responsibility of the whole team, not just the back four.

Caprice was useless though.

Could pick any of about 8 players who could have handled the 3rd goal in particular.

In fairness, it was at the other end of the ground and I have not seen the goals back yet. I still think the defence did well to keep us in it as long as they did.
