So you had a cafe breakfast, KFC dinner, Macdonalds tea, booze and pizza supper in one day? You're on the way to myocardial infarction central young man. My aging pyloric sphincter would be crippled by the time the match started.

A complete one off. I don't usually have pizza...

Nah, seriously, I'm quite a healthy eater but we don't get to away games together very often. That was a freak day in terms of food and certainly not the norm! Couldn't tell you the last time I had a fry-up or fast food.

The Noodle Bar at the front of Peterborough Services is well recommended, especially their crispy pancake roll for the bargain price of £1.50.

Left for Altrincham at 11.30. Had already filled up with petrol at a local Sainsbury's for 98p a litre so when we stopped at the Away Day Footballing Hub that is Warwick Services, none was needed. Saw off a footlong steak and cheese Subway before returning to the car.

Arrived at Moss Lane at about 4pm so went into Manchester for a cheeky Nandos. They seemed short staffed when we arrived but soon there were almost too many employees when the 5pm shift started. Had a plain (Lincoln Pantywaist) chicken burger with chips and chicken wings.

Watched Woking lose.

Stopped for petrol pretty soon after leaving Alty. Got PRICED OUT by Shell for 112p a litre. The bloke inside had the Liverpool v Stoke commentary on full blast, so I quickly exited #AgainstModernFootball. Returned to Warwick Services which was empty. As we walked in, I recited the line "50,000 people used to live here, now it's a ghost town" from the Call of Duty 4 intro. No one knew what I was going on about. Got PRICED OUT of an Orange Tango and some Haribo Tangfastics.

Got in at 1.45am.

How the hell did you use a tank of petrol going from Woking to Altrincham?!

To be fair we only used one tank as well, soft southern drivers I guess.

Our day went as such, first stop petrol station (most important part obviously) Drove a bit, got stuck in traffic, drove a bit more, got stuck in more traffic, drove a bit more, got stuck in even more traffic. At this point I was very agitated, calling all the stoke fans knob heads from the safety of my car (i'm a hard bastard). Finally got there 5 hours after we left and straight to the pub, quickly necked a few pints then to the ground. We were shit and I went home pissed off, sleeping the whole way home, the end.

We didn't, but knew we'd have to fill up at some point on the way back so stopped early.

Tangfastics, nandos, what a day.

How was your nandos and how long did you wait?

Paying 112p a litre is awful. I'm assuming you didn't do a full fill up? Id put in 5 pound then storm off.

Luckily I can manage around 500 miles a tank, so fill ups are planned days if not weeks in advance

Cobham services are a must on South East bound away trips. They've literally got everything.Auntie Anne's, Carvery Express, Chozen Noodle, El Mexicana, Greggs, Harry Ramsden's, KFC, McDonald's, Mint Leaves, Papa John's Pizza, Starbucks, Tossed, Starbucks on the Go, and Krispy Kreme plus some shops, Quicksilver arcade etc etc. And they've got Ecotricity charging points (obviously). Awesome place.

Can't wait for Dover in April.

Start of the season away at Cheltenham for me. Left work around 4.30pm to make the journey up to Cheltenham, stopping at Michaelwood Services on the M5 en route. Didn't get any petrol as I already had a full tank but I did get an iced coffee from Starbucks and a kit kat chunky. Also walked past a player in a Cheltenham FC tracksuit in said services, which was quite a coincidence. Got to Cheltenham around 6, went to Nandos and had a hot chicken burger with chips. Walked to the ground, saw a 0-0 draw, not much happened, then walked back to the car and drove home.

Not technically an 'away day' but needed to update everyone on the petrol prices in and around the Tonbridge area of Kent.

As it was too far to go to watch the might Gulls capitulate once again, I made the brave decision to go and watch Tonbridge Angels take on the Not Police in the Ryman Prem.

But, first things first... petrol... having run low from the previous week's fuel stop near East Grinstead (see my previous post) and in need of some white spirit to clean some brushes after a bit of DIY, I headed first to the B&Q in Tonbridge and purchased the aforementioned white spirt (quite reasonable at around £1.80 for the bottle). Was tempted to get a cheeky burger from the Grumpy Food Co trailer situated in the car park, but it was closed (on a Saturday!)... so I forego the burger and head over to Sainsbury's petrol station approx half a mile away.... and, once again, topped up with £30 worth of unleaded at a very reasonable 98.9p per litre and, as I didn't partake in any delicious Grumpy Food Co, I decided to purchase a Wisper bar and a packet of Cheese & Onion crisps.

Petrol and goods paid for, I headed over to Stad de Longmead and parked up.... strangely though, some people were exiting the ground and shaking their heads - this normally happens at the end of a game, not half hour before kick off! .... I asked the gateman what was happening and he said that the game had been called off - half an hour before kick off! ... it was sunny, it was dry.... but, apparently, part of the Stad de Longmead pitch was a 'a bit wet' and the manager of Not Police was determined that the game would not go ahead.... and convinced the matchday referee accordingly - he must've been concerned for the safety of the team he was fielding*..... I can only think the hordes of Not Police fans were not too well pleased having travelled for over an hour only to have the game called off! .... so it was back to the DIY for me and listening to the mighty Gulls capitulate (once again).

*...just to add... Not Police had at least FIVE of their first team out injured....
