I agree that its a bit shit luck that your first word was easy, as it's clearly scared you into thinking they are all easy. They aren't.. Our first word was Aviva stadium ffs! Then under that it was a much easier Ireland (which still took a few guesses to get correct)

There's basically a good mix of easy, and hard words.. So if played like our gane it would of been more enjoyable. Unless you're losing 4-0

We rejected the rule change because of the whole Play Your Cards Right thing. After we won the tiebreak you went back the next day to count posts etc - basically play hard ball. Now we are doing the same thing (justifiably), in other words "wearing your masks" and you don't like looking at yourselves.

Unfortunately you lot miss out the bit when you got mardy for Rammy taking the free turn lark meaning you went first.

End of the day its 2-0 and you made us wait 51 minutes? To pathetically get an answer out when 4 of you had said you quit and one wasn't even bothering to reply. Don't go acting all goody two shoes in the thread.

I'll give my opinion since people are judging this on nothing more than bitchy comments and hearsay.

Our first grievance is being forced to go first despite winning what we have come to call the toss. By this, I mean we were first to answer Rammy's question which, in nearly all cases, would mean we would get an advantage. Apparently not. For some bizarre reason, we are forced to go first, essentially having to pick a letter and, unbeknownst to us, ultimately handing the point to the other team.

I say unbeknownst as we assumed the game would be played like LR's where the team who picks the letter gets first guess after seeing it. Again, for reasons bizarre, this was not the case and we lost th first point despite the rules not being made explicitly clear. That's grievance number two. I hear you say that we would have guessed 'golf' but that's not really the case as that was purely an initial instinct from myself and no one else on the team had been able to discuss.

Grievance number three is a rule change while the game is taking place. Rammy inexplicably takes away the free letter guess rule, which again only helps the other team.

These early proceedings unfortunately led to both teams guessing random things in fear of handing the other team an advantage and ultimately ruining the game. Eventually, it was us who picked a letter again and, while I don't dispute the point scored on the second word, the underhand tactics from the other team in refusing to pick letters left a really sour taste in the mouth.

Rammy finally offered a rule change at 2-0 but knowing full well that they'll more than likely go on to win under the old rules, the other team again displayed totally unsporting actions by refusing which unfortunately led to stalemate and myself and Blade throwing the towel in.

I have since offered two solutions to the problem (scrapping this entire game or resuming play at 1-0 under the proper rules) but both have seemingly been rejected. I'm not entirely sure why neither Rammy or the other team are willing to compromise but it's only added to our discontent and I'm genuinely thinking about jacking the whole marathon in to be honest. I've worked quite hard to keep my team in this thing (as has been acknowledged) but the fact is that we could easily face elimination on the back of this and I'm not prepared to continue playing if that's the case.

I understand that you all may look at this as an Oaf-style meltdown but the situations just aren't comparable. The rules were not clearly explained here and we have been fucked over by a number of poor decisions.

I'd like to give Tom some credit for trying to diffuse the situation and actually understanding our grievances but I have to admit that I'm very disappointed in a few others on their team for their unsporting play and constant jibes.

InceptiveLemon went back and counted that very night. He was the only member of our team to think of doing so, credit to him. That Rammy saw the post and recounted the scores the next day is totally irrelevant. InceptiveLemon's decision was justified as the scores had been incorrectly totalled so I'm not sure why you are still hung up over that.

Let's get one thing right we didn't start those stupid underhand tactics. You did. After you went on another mardy because the free turn was removed.

And on another point i was open to the rule changes but others on my team declined them and after having a 5 year old tantrum over it we aren't prepared to lose a lead after your attitudes in this game.

You talk about being eliminated you are bloody top ffs. We are bottom at the moment and need it more than you.

I left as it was pointless waiting around. Besides the whole first point issue your team did appear to be playing the whole thing very unsportingly. Just after we went 2-0 down Mike asked if we were going to play the game properly, how it was intended, as opposed to just random guessing. Something that you threw back in his face Stag with pointless digs, a mere 'yes' would've sufficed. So there we were, about 1h30 in and only 2 points decided. Rammy offers the rule change to speed thing up, you decline. We're now about 2h in and still 2 points scored. Any offers of speeding the game up you rejected Stag.

I was not going to hang around playing 'who can be luckiest with a random guess'. At that rate it'd have taken all night. And indeed it has, after 4h of playing there's still only 2 points scored. I have far better thing to do than spend over 18h (at that rate) doing so. So yes, your unsporting tactics pissed me off along with Mikes other grievances. You trying to drag the game out was the reason I threw the towel in. As I said at the time, sorry Rammy. You've obviously put a lot of effort in to this but twice games have gone way over time/restarted through people not playing the games in the way they were intended.

I don't think it's fair to say that the rules weren't explained properly, this sounds pretty clear to me.
Each team will take it in turns to either guess the word(s), or request a letter.

Rammy didn't explain that he was running it differently to LR's game. In fact, the night before, he described it as 'LR's word ladder game'.

As I said, I've offered two solutions to this problem that have both been rejected. All I know is that if play continued as it is, we have been put at a distinct disadvantage and my heart just won't be in it any more.

I really don't see how you've been put at a distinct disadvantage. The first word in your game was relatively easy to guess, and your opponents guessed it first time - well done to them. If they'd been the first to choose a letter, then maybe your team would have guessed the word before they had a chance to. Perhaps it would be better if the letter isn't revealed first to the team who didn't choose it, but either way it's the same for both teams.

Edited - due to me being incorrect in my reading of the rules.

But anyway....

It's still a massive overreaction to be fair Mike. We didn't throw our toys out and basically stick 2 fingers up to Rammy and all his hard work when we wrongfully lost the life in Play Your Cards Right, and threaten to pull out of the game.

Okay, things haven't gone your way, but each semi final is played under the same rules, so there IMO was no advantage / disadvantage to any of the teams. So, it was an 'easy' word in your game after Sport, but as I said earlier it could have been anything sport related beginning with G.

We've had a mixture of easy and hard words in our game.

Get a grip.

What would you have done then if you were in our situation? Ignored it?

And here, I'll bring it up again. Every team wants to win this thing right??

Which is exactly why not one of the teams raised their voice (Tom apart) about us unfairly losing a life. All we got was sarcastic comments. Now you've had something not go your way and you throw a total strop, and threaten Rammy with a big fuck off tablet after all his hard work.

That's nice.

I think every team has had a time where they felt the rules weren't fair or felt something went against them. Everyone else has complained then got on with it.

As mentioned, the rules were completely and thoroughly explained in that game. In this, they weren't, and I don't see why one team should benefit and one team shouldn't from it.

I know Rammy has put a lot of effort into this but it also takes up a lot of time and effort to play and frankly this whole fiasco has made me question why I am even doing so, hence the very real possibility of me abstaining.

we felt the game went against us from the start, yes. But we did get on with it. That's why we are 2-0 down, we didn't throw the towel in straight away which seems to be what some of you think. As said above I threw the towel in as the other team were continuing with their shitty sportsmanship which meant the game would have taken ages due to neither team wanting to get fuxking letter. The only time Rammy tried to rectify this they rejected it.

I'm not talking about this. Personally I wouldn't mind continuing at 2-0 with the changed rules, as has been said, shit has happened to every team. The Play Your Cards Right incident however is absolute and you can't argue that. Neither was that our fault in any way and the fact it's been held against us is quite frankly, pathetic.

Waiitt shitty sportsmanship you made us wait 50 minutes before you decided to answer. Then RavenBish had the cheek to say I'm setting my alarm every 59 minutes so we don't forfeit... No wonder Rammy was questioning whether you were playing. Total lack of respect shown to Rammy for all his hard work.

This is rumbling on and on so in a final attempt to put this to bed, would Five Guys on a Fact Hunt be prepared to resume play at 2-0 but the the proper rules in place?

I know you have twice rejected this already but it might just save this shitter of a game.

Just some confirmation we discussed it last night and our team aren't willing to agree to the rules change.

and there we go again. So its going to carry on as guess the random word and take ages, wasting everyone's time?

Bish was taking the piss, hence how he commented he was going to wait ages...then posted 2minutes later.

And therein lies our problem, everyone. 2-0 up but not prepared to adjust the rules despite every other team (including those in the other game) agreeing to it. If we can compromise, why can't you?

End of the day, man up and get on with it. You started the stupid tactic of just guessing words so it's up to you whether you play normally. You play properly and so will we.

As an outsider, albeit one with experience of running a game on here, this is my take on this current impasse:

(a) a simple oversight in the laying down of the rules from a guy who has put a hell of a lot more into the running of this than anyone will ever put into playing it has turned it into a whole horrible nest of moaning, which I don't think anyone signed up for. If anyone thinks that's the thanks Rammy deserves for this so far, then carry on.

(b) How old are we all? And how important is this round of this game really, in the grand scheme of things? Specifically, from what I've seen, Mike and Veggie have always got on in my eyes, and been good (team)mates on here. Don't you lads be bitching to each other and be building any bad feeling over this. <now dragging you both separately away saying it ain't worth it mate>

(c) It's not even about this round only. Every round you've played so far has been building to this. Someone (Mike?) said they were gonna quit? And throw away every other effort you've put into previous rounds? Mate, let Rammy make a decision on his, accept it, and move on. There's no elimination after this round, is there? Make up for it next round. Don't get bitter, get better.

Seriously, this whole game is bigger than this round. Some team might be eliminated because of an honest mistake by Rammy, but who cares. He's earned enough credit by running the thing to make up for that. Thank him for even putting you in the position to be wronged and, if you're out, be big enough to wish the other players luck as you go.

Ta.
