1st - Jehovah's Five

Beat The Best is a new, exciting and competitive game show, hosted by Gary Lineker. Each week, it gives three members of the public the opportunity to test themselves against top athletes and walk away with big prizes. The format of the show is simple, while the tasks themselves are anything but.

Each contestant must complete three physical or sporting challenges against a professional in that field. Obviously this is not a fair contest, so, in order to level the playing field, the contestant will have a chance to gain an advantage before each challenge. This will consist of a short round of general knowledge questions, with the contestant’s performance determining the level of advantage they get.

Examples of physical challenges
Darts: 501 vs Phil Taylor
Golf: driving distance vs Rory McIlroy
Cycling: time trial vs Laura Trott
Archery: target shooting vs Alison Williamson
Basketball: free throw contest vs Luol Deng
Athletics: 100m vs Adam Gemili
Shooting: target shooting vs Peter Wilson
Swimming: 100m vs Fran Halsall

The contestant’s performance in the question round would dictate how big an advantage they get in each physical challenge. For example, in any race the contestant would get a time advantage, or in the basketball, archery or shooting challenge the professional would have a distance penalty. The challenges that any contestant will have to compete in will be selected at random for each round. Obviously this is just a sample and there is scope for more challenges to be added at any time.

In each individual challenge, the contestant can win a cash prize for beating the professional. In addition, they might also have the opportunity to compete in a final challenge to win a major prize. Major prizes will be things like a holiday, spa weekend, TV, bike, luxury food and drink hamper, etc.

Outline of show format

Question Round 1: A two minute round where the contestants are asked questions one at a time (like The Weakest Link). For each correct answer, the contestant gains a "bonus" for the upcoming challenge.

Challenge 1: Darts vs Phil Taylor!
One at a time, the players play a game of darts against Phil Taylor! Phil starts at 501 and has to get down to zero. For each question answered correctly, the contestant gets to start at 50 less (so one correct answer would mean they start at 451, two correct would mean starting at 401, etc). The contestant goes first and take it in turns with Phil to reach zero, throwing three darts per turn. If the player reaches zero first, they get the different in points between the contestant and Phil, times two, in cash. If Phil finishes first, they get nothing.

Question Round 2: Same as round 1.

Challenge 2: Cycling vs Laura Trott!
Each participant must ride a 5km time trial on a relatively straightforward road course. In order to win, the contestant must beat Laura’s time. Each correct answer in the question round subtracts 30 seconds from the contestant’s time. If the contestant wins, they get £10 for every second they beat Laura by.

Round 3: Same as rounds 1 and 2.

Challenge 3: Basketball vs Luol Deng!
Each participant has to make 10 shots at a basketball hoop. The contestants all throw from the free throw line, while Luol must throw from further away. For every question that a contestant gets right, Luol must throw from an extra metre further back. If the contestant wins, they get £100 for each basket they won by.

Final showdown: The player with the most cash at the end gets the chance to win some star prizes by beating an expert in their own field. For example, they could go up against David Beckham in a Soccer AM shootout type thing, with 5 holes, each with a different star prize. The contestant goes first, and if they can kick a ball through one of the holes, they'll win the prize assigned to the hole. If Beckham gets a hole first though, that prize is gone! They get either 10 attempts, or if all five holes are claimed before the 10 attempts it'll end there and then.

2nd - Team Adidas

The Room - Presented by Phillip Schofield

1 team
5 contestants
25 minutes to escape....... THE ROOM

There are no windows or obvious exits. The only door into the room has been locked and is only used by eliminated contestants. The contestants have to search the room for clues and solve puzzles to reveal new hidden truths about the room which will help them escape. Can they put all the pieces together to help them find an escape?

Every 5 minutes, the clock freezes and the contestants have to stop searching. They are then each asked a quiz question (no team mates can help). The contestants can choose from various categories. However, these could be a whole range of topics from things like Guess the Song to identifying famous quotes etc. Each contestant has a choice from two categories.

If they all get it right, they're all permitted to continue the search and a minute is added to their clock. However, if 1 of the 5 contestants answer wrong, that contestant will be eliminated from the room. If more than 1 contestant gets the answer wrong, the group has to choose in 10 seconds who to dispose of in the search (obviously you can only choose to dispose of people who gave a wrong answer). The disposed person leaves through the door leaving only a team of 4. With 25 minutes and the clock stopping in 5 minute intervals, it could end up with just one person trying to escape for the final five minutes or a whole group of five contestants still searching as the clock ticks down to a finish.

If they escape within the 25 minutes, the group win a £100,000 cash prize between the contestants who managed to escape. The twist is that they have to choose whether to split it between all five members of the group giving them £20,000 each or just to split it amongst those who managed to escape the room. So in theory, one person could walk away with £100,000 or five could walk away with £20,000 each. Or you could have a horrible scenario where 4 people escape and share £25,000 each and then decide not to include the poor final member who sacrificed himself in the search. Greed and generosity at it's best.

The goal is simple, yet challenging. GET OUT IN TIME and escape.....THE ROOM.....

1st Elimination (Penalty Shootout) - Takes place in studio. Each team has 1 penalty per member, after which if it is tied it goes to sudden death. Winner progresses, loser eliminated

2qbdv05.png

Top scorer progresses. Bottom 2 into elimination challenge.

2nd Elimination (Crossbar Challenge) -
Again, would take place across length of studio. One attempt per member of each team, highest score progresses. If level, goes into sudden death.

Round 3: You What? (Distorted chant/club song and guess what it is) - Teams hear a distorted music clip of a football chant/song and have to buzz in to guess what it is, recieving 10pts per correct answer. 5 clips, loser, out, winner progresses to final round.

(distorted)
10 points for exact song - Forever Blowing Bubbles
5 points for correct club (if the song isn't named) - West Ham United

Jackpot Round: (Tinpot or Not) - We asked 100 people to list 7 clubs in order from most to least tinpot. Team has to guess correct order, each correct answer adding to the jackpot goes in increments, 1k, 2k, 5k, 10k, 20k, 50k, 100k. And it would start off easier before getting progressively harder. Example: Forest Green Rovers, Lincoln City, Plymouth Argyle, Luton Town, Preston, Bristol City, Bradford City.

4th - League One & A Lemon

Take Take Take (2015)
Named after what my Mum used to say to me when I was being ungrateful. Late teens are faced by their parents in a gruelling 5 round thriller of both mental and physical challenges. Each round is played for a prize and the person who wins the most rounds, keeps their prizes. The prizes differ for each side....a washing machine for Mum? Or a PS4 for the teen? The winning side is then faced at the end with a difficult choice, do they keep their prizes and stick two fingers up at their beloved children or loving parent? Or do they risk it all in order to win prizes for their relative as well? This is the ultimate test of a family bond.

*but the children don't realise they were actually playing their parents till the end

5th - Five Guys on a Fact Hunt

Premise and how to win.

Contestants have to track down a list of 3 specific DVDs/BluRays at people they meet at a cinema’s houses! Along the way they will have to answer film trivia questions, travel in a stretched limo, complete a film themed inflatable obstacle course and avoid 'Knock Off Nigels'! First team to track down all 3 films on DVD or BluRay win the prize!

The Prize

An all expenses paid 2 week trip for the whole team of four to Hollywood, to stay in a 5 star hotel there, Universal Studios pass, and behind the scenes access to the filming of the latest blockbusters.

Hosted By
Simon Pegg & Nick Frost

Part One – Pick your cinema screen!

The game show starts at a multiplex cinema in a British city on Saturday evening (location changes each week). Each team starts off as just 1 lucky contestant. There are 3 opposing contestants at the start and they are asked a film trivia question. The first contestant to get it correct gets first choice of which cinema screen they get to look for somebody in. Obviously, if the DVD they are looking for is of a certain genre then it might be good tactics to pick a screen that has just shown a film of that genre.

At the end of the film, they can run into the cinema and look for someone who owns the first DVD they are looking for in the audience. If they can find someone who has the DVD at home, and they agree to join the game and their team, they have to return to the cinema foyer.

Part Two – Film Themed Inflatable Obstacle Course!

Before they can head off in the limo, the team has to complete a red carpet inflatable obstacle course. The first obstacle is a massive inflatable Al Pacino head that they have to jump through the open mouth of. There is a speaker inside blaring out “Say hello to my little friend” whilst Al Pacino look-a-likes fire water and foam pellets at the contestants, using the most expensive Super-soakers and Nerf guns that were available at the local Toys R Us.

The second obstacle is an inflatable version of the Nakatomi Tower from Die Hard. There is netting on either side and the contestants have to scale up one side and down the other whilst look-a-likes of the fat black cop from Die Hard throw twinkies at them.

The third obstacle is a huge inflatable robotic Brachiosaurus which will try to block the contestants off, whilst Jeff Goldblum, Richard Attenborough and Sam Neil look-a-likes throw foam dinosaur eggs at the contestants to try to put them off.

Obstacles change on a weekly basis.

Part Three – Going to the most recent contestant’s house.

Once the obstacle course is complete, they take a DVD Hunt logo’d stretched black limo to the person they found in the cinema’s house. Cameras are following everything so the contestants can’t cheat (much to Rammy’s relief) and buy the DVD at a store somewhere etc. It has to actually already be in the person they found in the cinema’s house.

If the person has the correct DVD/Blu Ray, job done and they then have to return to the cinema and pick another screen to go into at the end of, in search of the next DVD, repeating the same process as before to track it down to the contestant’s house. The winning team will have 4 people on it by the end.

Knock Off Nigels

HOWEVER – there are also ‘Knock Off Nigels’ who are planted undercover in the cinema screens by the producers of DVD Hunt. These people will pretend to own the DVD title the contestants are looking for but when they go to their house the contestant only finds counterfeit DVDs and a hard drive full of illegally downloaded films. If this happens the contestant/team gets a 30 minute time penalty which must be spent watching bad film clips. For example 30 minutes of only Jar Jar Binks clips. If this happens the contestant/team gets a 30 minute time penalty which must be spent watching bad film clips whilst sat on Knock Off Nigels' sofa.

My personal favourite was 'The Room'. Probably because I used to love those games on the iPod a few years back.

Shall we just leave now and save everyone a lot of time :fl:

In all seriousness, we have been ridiculously unlucky so far. That's two games now where we've been just 1pt off 2nd and 2 off 1st

Tbf though, The Room and Beat the Best both also sound awesome

I've just told this to Jehovah's Five in their PM, so I'll make it clear to the rest of you too.

After the first elimination, yes scores are reset. The overall score from all played games will be used as a tiebreaker if required, in the second and third eliminations.

I fancy taking tinpot or not to the League 1 forum. I reckon it'd end in multiple bans and even death.
