I went to the 0-0 game at Vale Park and whilst it was a shit game I really enjoyed it, atmosphere in our end was brilliant that day and I remember just being happy to be playing a league team again with us being stuck in non league. Think we all celebrated the 0-0 at the end as if we'd won the cup because of how hard we had to battle just to keep it at 0-0. Happy days. :gr:

Serge Makofo isn’t even close to our top 10 worst players.

That FA Cup replay was horrendous.

Rob Taylor playing up front as a striker. Truly remarkable.

Not one of Micky Adams finest moments! Their winner was a handball if I recall too in the build up.

We’ve tended to have decent results against Grimsby at Vale Park in the league mind. Remember a cracking performance in 2003 by MBW in a 5-1 win. What we’d give for that 03/04 side right now!

Anyhow as for the game, buzzing!!! About to set off from Leicestershire in an hour and the chore of a drive seems less today!

Be a tough game and don’t expect miracles on the field after two days but fans who haven’t gone for months/years are coming today so should add another couple of thousand on the gate and the atmosphere should be superb.

That great night four years ago against Burton when the 94 side including Rudge was paraded at half time was immense noise wise so should be a great occasion for Valiants when they are welcomed back, especially Rudgie after all he did for this club! Flat Cap protests when sacked harshly because we were struggling in the Championship! (How times have changed!)

Hopefully we get at least a positive hard working performance and the lack of effort on display at times has been unforgivable. If the lads can’t raise to it today they shouldn’t be at the club.

Just to have the fans together with pride after the last 12 months will be nice in itself as the club was dead up until this appointment off the field. I want to feel a bit of what it felt that night against Burton again (although don’t anticipate a 7-1 win and over 10k home fans though this time!)

Loads of police here today, apparently Grimsby bringing a fair few idiots looking for trouble. Didn’t even know they had hooligans. No doubt our idiots will be out to taint what should be a great occasion for the club.

Interesting team news to say the least... not sure what formation it is...

Worrall benched is a shock and only one up front but looking at the line up is he playing 4-5-1 with Denton in midfield or 3-5-1-1 with Harness behind Pope?

Decent first half, two poor teams but we’ve been comfy and got the goal, McKeown doing a Roos and gifting the pontiff the goal. We’ve been here before though this season and this is now Aspins time to see us keep it up second half. Could of had a goal or two prior but need the next one.

Great reception for Aspo and Rudge!

Because we aren’t pot hunters and support shit teams?
You got it. Only so much someone can take though. Sad to say I enjoyed us being non-league a LOT more than I've enjoyed any minute of this season since the opening day. Looking like we could easily be back there soon, too.

Got to say you’ve brought decent numbers today considering the distance.

Is what it is, these are our clubs darkest days but I wouldn’t swap it for being a United or Arsenal fan.

It’s shit but it’s our shit!

Let's see if new Vale can hold onto, or build on a lead as the old one couldn't. It sounds promising so far though.

Dembele embarrassing Gunning before winning the corner that leads to our equaliser. Now that I can enjoy.

I unsubscribed from ifollow 3 weeks ago, can't even bare to listen to it nevermind watch it, been out with the family today instead got back in just before half time looked at the score and realised I didn't miss it.

Sooner Fenty and Slade go the better, though I fear we will be non league before than happens and I certainly won't be going back if that happens, despite it being fun for a couple seasons.

I don't care about being mid table, but we could at least try to win games, rather than the shite we are playing this season.

Second half has been better as we have actually had a go at keeping it on the floor. Dembele has been fantastic today.

Meh, we're playing a team at the bottom, a win today won't change anything.

A long way to go before I think about planning to listen/watch instead of something else, like something other than Sladeball to strikers that can score, and a defence that doesn't give away stupid goals.

Firstly fair play to Grimsby, took advantage of the 25 minutes or so in the second half where they were dominant. Thought Dembele for them was excellent, looked a threat all game.

Vale did ok first half and not so ok second half. This squad is just useless, too high in quantity and lacking quality. Midfield with Pugh and Tonge is non-existent, that needs looking at. Goalkeeping situation is a joke, probably the worst I can remember at the club. Sadly for Aspo he is stuck with this mess Brown has left behind until January.

Mess is an understatement. What the fuck has this fitness guy been doing too! Another second half where we are lacking too.

See what Aspo can do with a full week to see what he’s got but it’s a huge job for anyone.

Soon as they equalised you could see our head drop. Need to sort confidence and fitness fast. That’s crucial.

Grimsby are shit. As far as I'm concerned I hope we go bust to save the hassle of 4000 regular supporters throwing money away week after week. The extra few today can fuck off. Somebody please set up a acc port vale and start from scratch bollocks to this shite. I'm not watching this shite ever again players are a joke chairman joke aswell just close the place down please.

I can't disagree with a lot said before, but, Thought we played reasonably well today.
They had some nouse,we haven't got that, we aren't used To it, (winning) and their winning goalscorer ran it second half, he wasn't offside to me, we fell apart when they eqaulised, fair play cods we're shit.
22nd this season is the holy grail.

It was an odd one as at half time I felt comfy that we wouldn’t lose it at least! That niggling feeling of Accrington/Yeovil/FGR was there though as I mentioned at half time.

Had we kept the level up from the first we would have won but fitness isn’t right that’s clear for all to see and confidence is at the pits. Once they equalised we just resorted to hoofing it again although we should of scored at the death.

Kay is too slow, id have played the lad from Burnley with Smith and Mad Gav. Thought he did alright, only one who put in a tackle on their 27 all second half!

Their 27 was like Enoch Andoh, stature, looks and style, where we’d be now had he not done his cruciate.

Feel flat, Grimsby were poor enough for us to win that but we lapsed in those 20 minutes they had pressure, was almost a carbon copy of Accrington game.

Haven’t won in over six months at home and only six I think in 2017, when we beat MK this time last year to sit 4th in league one I never in my worst nightmares thought we’d sink this low. Been a complete an utter nosedive of a 12 months, I could handle us struggling at times in league one as plenty of huge clubs and big budgets but not at this level. Why oh why did we keep Brown on after relegation. He’s left so much mess to sort out.

Vale were much better in the first half and should’ve had a couple. Was impressed with Harness. Second half, they crumbled, we started playing football and Dembele tore them apart for 20 minutes. We were under the cosh for the last 10, after taking off most of our attacking players, but we scraped though.

Mckeown was completely at fault for the Vale goal but was generally solid throughout. How Scott Vernon is a footballer is beyond me. Both defences were pretty rubbish.

I said to my brother at halftime that I felt the first 10 minutes of the second half were going to go a long way to deciding if we won or not. Grimsby were clearly going to come out offering a bit more as I suspect they had a bit of a rocket from their manager during the break and it was down to whether we could ride it out. Clearly the answer was no. Once the equaliser went in I have to admit it seemed like the second goal was going to be inevitable.

There are things to work with, I thought Gibbons did well as did Whitfield and Denton but we really need to offer more in the centre of the pitch than we do at present. I don't think there is a more pedestrian midfield than our present one in the entire football league. Also thought the crowd was very good today and stayed with the team all game, Grimsbys fans helped to create a good atmosphere as well. Looked like they were having a good time in the away end.
